Witch or Familiar: Witch, seems to have a dark affinity but he's still not entirely sure as he has shown some talent in fire magic as well

Partner: None officially, he's not one to commit to things long term.

Appearance: Michael's a lanky ass beanpole with a height of 6'3". He has several self-done piercings and a head of curly shortish dark hair. His eyes are dark brown, almost black and often accentuated with eyeliner. His nose is too big for his face and a bit crooked, don't mention it to him, it's a bit of a sore spot.

Personality: Dark-minded and cynical, Michael is a man of logic and realism. He isn't one to accept conventional definitions of normalcy or morality, believing all issues to be a matter of shades of grey rather than black and white. He's stoic with a dark sense of humor. He also has a very bad temper, thats landed him in anger management before.

History: Michael was born to a Vietnamese fire witch of great reknown and her shapeshifting phoenix familiar. The two were quite the flashy pair. Their matching tempers, however, led to their marriage being highly voltile. Michael was relieved to start school and spend time away from being caught between them and their constant strife. His aims in school are merely to hone his own magic.

Headcanons (3+):

He has an affinty towards poetry and he writes a lot of it. It's to the point he has several books full of things he's written.

He has a small dragon hatchling in his care due to his Cryptic Creatures class. He didn't want her at first, but she's grown on him over time and is now one of the few living things he likes.

He is terrible at runes. Several of those projects going horribly wrong has gotten him into major trouble over his years at school.

Full Name: Peter Hanne Thelman

Age: 17

Gender/Sexuality: Genderless Thing presenting Male, Poly Pan

Witch or Familiar: A demon existing in fire but can transform into many forms.

Partner: Looking, I suppose.

Appearance: His default appearance is one of pure flame that can shape itself into any amalgamation imaginable. To contain his distructiveness, he can shapeshift into many forms, animalian and human. He prefers a cat form, but can appear human as well. His human form is a copy of one of the other students in the school, but has vibrant red hair and eyes as blue as the hottest flame.

Personality: He is a worrywart who cares about the emotional and physical safety of his close friends. He tries his best to be aloof and uncaring, and has a slight habit of going on tangents about things that hold his interest. He's a huge gossip, worse than any of his friends. He shows his love by insulting you and picking meaningless fights that you know aren't serious. He has a short temper and tends to flare up in rages that are notoriously wicked.

History: He’s from a community of fire and heat. He’s got no technical family, simply existing with the other demons born in pits of lava that his town between the mountains was known for. He was taken in and raised by a demon familiar and his witch wife, coming to see them as parents and, wanting to follow in their footsteps, chose to go out in search of a witch that he could bond with.

Headcanons (3+):

Quite obviously, water and ice hurts him, but he’ll deny it his entire being because he feels like any weakness makes him undesirable as a familiar.

His hair tends to change color in human form depending on his temperature.

He will take small forms like cats and birds in order to climb into the fireplace to sleep. He likes to sleep in fire.

Full Name: Henrietta Belle Biggle

Age: 17

Gender/Sexuality: Bisexual Cis Female

Witch or Familiar: Familiar, yuki-onna (aka she's a snow spirit of sorts)

Partner: None, though she's being pushed to find one. She considers the entire concept of using another person to live up to your full potential demeaning.

Appearance:

Over the years, Henrietta grew into her body, not becoming stick thin though. Thick and curvy would be the best terms to describe her body type, childhood chubbiness clinging stubbornly to her belly, rear, and thighs, despite the best efforts of her tightly-laced corsets. Without the aid of her heels, boots, or platform shoes, she is around 5’3”, with them, she is about 5’7” on average. She prefers dark, longer dresses and skirts, usually with tights or fishnets beneath, and more formfitting shirts and blouses.

Her ears have been pierced multiple times, and she has a lip ring. Her eyes are a light green, though she often wears colored contacts to better compliment whatever dark and dramatic makeup style she’s chosen at the time. She has a couple of tattoos and grew out her hair, mainly for more freedom when experimenting with hairstyles. Face claim is @vampira33

Personality:

To most outsiders, Henrietta easily comes off as blunt and uncaring about the feelings of those around her. They’d be right in a way. She tends to be rather stand-offish towards those not in her small circle of friends, making befriending her a sizable task. She tends to only open up with those friends, who she is rather protective of, like most things she holds dear. She’s a very passionate woman, devoted to her interests and intensely loathing towards her many hatreds. She holds contempt for her status as a familiar, feeling like her talents are wasted there.

History: 

Henrietta was the first familiar born to her family of witches in many generations. Recessive genes are a bitch like that. Her parents, already disappointed they had a daughter, considered her at least being a powerful witch as a consolation, but were even more disappointed when it soon became apparent their baby wasn't even that. They adopted a young witch soon after to avoid the chance of another embarrassment being born. She's grown up largely in her brother's shadow, often ignored and considered the lesser child. She hopes to get as far away as possible once she graduates.

Headcanons (3+):

She's cold to the touch. She can't seem to keep any measure of warmth about her, with excess heat actually feeling painful to her. She also has trouble regulating her body temperature.

She doesn't believe that everyone has a true familiar or witch match out there. In fact, she considers it bullshit. To her, it's a fairytale made up to make familiars happy with their fate of being merely someone's amplifier.

She spends the majority of her time reading in the library, avoiding people.

Full Name: Stanley "Stan" Randall Marsh

Age: 18

Gender/Sexuality: Cis male, gay.

Witch or Familiar: Witch

Partner: No partner, but he's also not looking for one. He doesn't care that much.

Appearance: Stan is about 5'9", has dark, messy hair and his eyes are blue, like the ocean. He'd say he doesn't really stand out much, if asked, and he thinks that he's honestly kind of plain. However, there are some parts of him that stick out. Like his piercings. He has a few on his right ear and a tongue piercing.

Personality: Stan is a calm and more passive person. However, he does have an eagerness to jump straight into a situation to deal with the surprises as they come, rather than prepare ahead of time. He also has strong morals and beliefs, which makes him very strong-willed. Stan will not rest until he gets what he wants and he can even be kind of selfish sometimes, depending on the situation. He's definitely not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right, but he's also easy to manipulate and deceive. He trusts people too easily, and that gets the best of him more often than not. Stan respects others as much as he respects himself and he is very loyal, considerate and compassionate towards others.

History: Being born to a witch and a 'normie' resulted in... unintended consequences. Or maybe they were intended. Stan doesn't really know what his parents were thinking when they decided to get hitched. He knows he shouldn't feel the way he does about his... conception, except... it's still a little humiliating to have been from a long line of witches on his mother's side, but then to have a non-magical father.

Stan didn't receive his powers until he was 16, which he assumes is due to being a halfling, but he's not exactly sure. His mom calls him a late bloomer. In reference to raw power, he seems to be just as powerful as what is deemed a "regular witch", however, due to receiving his powers later in life, Stan is actually far less experienced in using his powers than some of the other students.

Headcanons (3+):

Just like his personality, his powers tend to be calm and passive — but when provoked and tampered with enough, the calm can turn into a storm.

Sharon gave Stan her spellbook when he turned 18 last October. He hasn't figured out his affinity yet but he likes reading through the book and trying out some of the spells he can cast.

Randy, in fact, does not know about the existence of witches. And he's too dense to realize that his kids have any magical qualities. He just thinks they've sent Stan to a fancy boarding school.

Full Name: Leopold “Butters/Marjorine” Stotch

Age: 18

Gender/Sexuality: Genderfluid; Bisexual

Witch or Familiar: Familiar - A skinny Coyote

Partner: Looking for a partner!

Appearance:

5’6” and Soft. All around- from those cheeks to his little belly to his thighs. He's just a sweet lookin fella! Choppy blonde hair marked with colorful chalks every day, the color hardly ever the same two days in a row, above those big blue doe eyes. A scar rests over one of those eyes, stretching from just under his eyebrow to the start of his cheek bone. A mark left over from his life before coming to this big ol school, the only one if you don't know that eye is a prosthetic. He wears baggy clothes that hang off of him, the same goes for Marjorine and all her flowing skirts and soft blouses.

Personality: 

A cheerful optimist if the world has ever seen one, bright eyed and bushy tailed nearly every moment of the day! He's skilled on the battlefield, killing many during the war under orders and coming back home with a smile. Having said all that… he's got a habit of taking words for truth without any thought when he thinks he can trust someone. Following a line, really, and some of his words can be sharp without him meaning them to be. Or because he wants to urge someone to action.

History: 

Life wasn't easy before school, but it's a long story. One of the few stories Butters doesn't like to tell. The most you'll hear is mumbles about groundings and skittish cowering under raised voices. They've gotten bolder with the help of their friends, skirts becoming a more common place in their wardrobe, despite only owning three anyways, and they've even grown their hair out some. It's been easier to relax now, easier to study and get better at things. Then, someday, maybe they'll find a partner and help unlock their full potential.

Headcanons (3+):

Coyote mode only has one eye. Sadly, their prosthetic can't shift with the rest of them currently. Given it's healed in coyote mode, but Butters still thinks it might unnerve people.

They have a habit of hiding food away for later. Just small things! No one knows about it just yet but some of their friends have come close to finding the hiding spot.

They bruise awful easy but makeup is a blessing.

Full Name: Mason Phaes “Tweek” Tweak

Age: 17

Gender/Secuality: Demi Dude; Big Gay

Witch or Familiar: Witch

Partner: Looking For One

Appearance: 

At 5’9” Tweek is pretty average in height! It may be one of the only things about him that's average, with his wild mess of curls that he ties away from his face with thin rubber bands and bobby pins. Anxiety is only part of him now, joined by catty grins and annoyed squinting. He can still have panic attacks that leave him shaking and lost but he's gotten so much more comfortable with himself. Even his sectoral heterochromia- the brown smearing one half of his right eye- doesn't bother him or make him feel as asymmetrical anymore.

Personality: 

Dry humor, sass, and a cackling laugh. Of course that's only the tip of the iceberg, through that is a kid doing his best to gather himself and his anxiety to carry on and push through his trauma. Tweek's anxiety has been calmed by medication and therapy, with it went most of his unwarranted short temper, leaving behind someone that takes too many risks and likes climbing things he shouldn't. A living dictionary of dick jokes and nasty humor.

History: 

Breezy goddamn air witches. Tweek hates them- okay, not all of them, but two in particular. His parents are distant and breezy and they're always in the clouds and smiling and he can't stand it. It was a blessing when he learned he would get to try everything. Dabling in whatever he can get a book on next, be it elements or nonverbal spells or magical animal handling. He'll take anything, try anything, as long as it isnt air magic.

Don't get him started on his parents familiars- two lazy cats. One of them has been pregnant for a month and all Richard has been calling him about is picking one of the kittens to go with Tweek to become his familiar. He hates it. He doesn't want a cat. He hardly wants a familiar at all- being tied to someone or something like that is a scary thought.

Maybe he can learn to be calm and steady and be an earth witch. Or understand freedom and change like water. Or be passionate like fire witches! He isn't sure, he hasn't been sure about the future for years now, but there's only one way to find out.

To change his phone number so his dad will stop calling about those dumb cats and focus on learning.

Headcanons (3+):

He's bad at time management. Overwhelms himself with work and then regrets it later.

Known for passing out in the library after throwing himself into another week long bout of research. He doesn't sleep much when he wants to figure something out.

Prides himself in his previous boxing experience. Is considering getting back into it.

Full Name: Kyle Ezra Broflovski

Age: 17

Gender/Sexuality: Male, Gay

Witch or Familiar: Witch

Partner: He doesn’t have a partner. Technically he's supposed to be looking while at school but it's... Not working too well for him.

Appearance:

Kyle isn't a very imposing figure, standing at only about 5'5" with a lithe build, he makes up for his small stature with his big personality. His hair is a fiery red that falls in curls around his eyes from the top of his head where he lets his hair grow longer, meanwhile the sides are much shorter. He's got large, blue-green eyes, and a freckled face. He's 'cute' to put it in a word, which clashes pretty strongly with his entire personality. He’s often dressed in dark forest green colors, and he’s never seen without a hat. His choice in wardrobe colors often classes with his hair but… It’s the colors his family is supposed to wear.

Personality:

Kyle has always had a bit of a messy personality. While intelligent, loyal, and determined above all else, Kyle’s virtues are often challenged by his faults. Determination leading to being headstrong, intelligence leading to naivete. He’s cunning, but he doubts himself and overthinks. He would do anything for the people he cares about, but he doubts their desire to go the same distance for him due to his own view of himself. He’s got an independent streak in him that can be as much of a boon as it can be a weakness. When he feels he’s fighting for what he believes is right and just, he’s completely unwavering, but sometimes his temper can get the better of him.

He’s grown frustrated with himself over the years due to his complete inability to live up to his parent’s expectations and those of his family. This has lead to him harboring some serious self doubt issues, though on the flip side, he’s loathe to show anyone that weakness. He likes to pretend that he has it figured out and he doesn’t need help, when what he needs more than anything is to learn to reach out and lean on others. His own desire to never be a burden is his greatest downfall.

History: 

Kyle is a member of the prestigious Broflovski line of witches. An old and storied family, they made their mark on the world as some of the most sought after potion makers, with a long streak of Earth Affinities aiding them in easily acquiring rare ingredients for their secret brews. Theirs is a long and glorious past.

And then.. There's Kyle.

Grandson of the family Matriarch and son of the most powerful witch his family has seen in generations, Kyle should have been by all accounts the next prodigy of his family. Or at least decent. Unfortunately for him he is… Neither.

Kyle has never been able to stoke life in the ground as his family could so easily, worse yet, he’s never even been able to find a familiar that might help him grow into his role in the family. For years he was kept under the careful eye and tutelage of his mother, but nothing seemed to work with him. Finally, as a last and desperate attempt to figure out something for him, Kyle was sent away. Off to a school where perhaps he might find a familiar who could help unlock his affinity.

Headcanons (3+)

His family has arranged several attempts for him to find a familiar within their own circles. Every one of those meetings have ended in disaster, with either Kyle utterly unable to stand his potential familiar, or it ends up with no chance of them being able to resonate together.

Being homeschooled is actually quite common in the Broflovski family. It’s expected for children to remain within the family to learn the family trade. Kyle is the first exception in a long, long time due to his special… Circumstances.

He’s dabbled in most types of magic, but has never shown much of an affinity for any of them. That doesn’t mean he’s not a powerful young witch. He definitely has the raw potential, but being able to refine and control it is a bit beyond him currently. To make up for this, he’s studied all the theory and lore that he can. Kid is an encyclopedia.

Welcome New Students to Efflorescence Academy!

The Faculty here is thrilled to be welcoming a new class to our hallowed halls. Here, you will spend the next few years honing your skills and creating bonds with your fellow classmates that will last a lifetime!

We know this is an exciting time for all of you as your begin your journey here, but before you may begin, there’s a few things we the Faculty would like to address with all new students before they begin their classes.

SCHOOL RULES

- Attempting to leave campus without an accompanying Faculty member, or without a Parent/Legal Guardian to escort you off the premise is strictly forbidden.

- The Enchanted Forest surrounding the School is likewise banned without supervision.

- Harassment, Bullying, or any form of intolerance towards your fellow students is highly frowned upon. Any student caught discriminating against one of their peers will face punishment.

- NECROMANCY, SPIRIT CONJURING, AND ANY FORM OF MIND OR EMOTION CONTROL IS BANNED OUTRIGHT. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION, AS WELL AS A LIKELY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FROM THE HIGH CONSULATE OF MAGIC.

- If it’s illegal off campus, it’s still illegal on campus.

- No melting wax inside your dorm room. If lit candles are necessary for a class project or ritual, please use one of the spell casting rooms inside the main building.

DRESS CODE

- Upon arriving at the Academy you will have been fitted with several pairs of the school uniform, in the size and form (Skirt, Pants, Shorts, etc,) you requested over the summer. If there is an issue with the sizing, or you were issued the wrong uniform, please report the matter to the Student Life offices.

- School Uniforms are to be worn at all times during School hours with only minor alteration, provided said alterations are not a distraction to the class. Witches are also expected to wear their uniform hats during school hours.

- Hats are permitted to be worn across campus at all hours, with customization allowed and encouraged to show off your personal style.

- Witches are expected to wear their uniform Red neckties during school hours.

- Familiars are expected to wear their uniform Blue neckties during school hours.

- Uniforms are not required outside of school hours or in dorms unless the student is participating in an official school event or field trip.

THE ‘CHAT’ SYSTEM

For your convenience, each of you has been issued access to a chat service designed for our students. Use it to connect to your fellow students from this year! Your conversations will not be monitored by staff.
