This was very much my experience :(

somewhere out there right now is a kid with curly hair being raised by people who have wavy hair at best and those people are giving them 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and telling them to dry brush it. and that kid is gonna spend all of middle school and high school hating their hair and moping over the flat iron. they're being told right now that if they don't dry-brush their curl pattern into oblivion every morning it means they're unkempt and gross even though they naturally have the kind of ringlets that a thousand bridezillas would commit horrible murders for every june. it's happening right now it's an absolute epidemic and a tragedy every time

like because when you're physically disabled it doesn't mean you have no other disabilities. it doesn't mean you can't have problems with mental health either. a physically disabled person who's autistic or schizophrenic or traumatized aren't dealing with these issues separately. we're dealing with them concurrently. our ability to react and respond to issues caused by physical disability can be impaired by other things. so if someone grabs us to try and help stop us falling over or want to pick up something we dropped or. idk. the unfortunate thing is we can react very badly. when we're having these problems we won't react the same way a normally abled person who is physically limited for a while would. like if you just grabbed an autistic person in general they might scream or cry or try to bite you because like. you just grabbed them. but somehow when that person is also physically disabled, usually visibly physically disabled, people kinda see nothing other than the physical limitation. our complex humanity and individual circumstances and personalities get sidelined in favour of seeing us like a task, or an obstacle, or a good deed. like it always boils down to the fact that hey. do you know that we're people.

it pisses me off SO bad how transphobes have so effectively used sports to launder transphobia and misogyny to people. like does nobody remember like ~5-10 years ago when it was a MAJOR feminist talking point to argue for desegregating sports and going by skill level instead of gender separation??? and now, because so many cis people hate trans people so violently and think we should be excluded from all aspects of public life, you’ve got a whole bunch of women who call themselves feminists laundering misogynistic talking points about how “women are just inherently weaker and worse at athletics than men :(( it’s just biology and women are inherently inferior :(( this is definitely not misogyny that’s unsupported by science, women are just weaker and worse at things :((“ like girl open your ears and listen to what you’re saying!!
