Getting back into Voltron and (wholesome cuz Lotor deserved better)Lancelot still has a hold on me so I now have another au for these two revolving around my favorite tropes:

Quiet. A dull throbbing throughout his entire body. He barely opened his eyes, squinting into the limited light cast through the curtains on a nearby window. Only a small greenish-blue sliver reached him, falling strangely both warm and ghostly onto his hand. He stared for a moment, watching the light dance across his pinkie before attempting to twitch his fingers, silently thankful when they moved easily. Moving the hand up to his face was admittedly much harder, pain radiating up to his shoulder making him groan as he swiped at his cheek, flinching as he felt the dry, cracked skin on his lips, “Wh-?” He was cut off by his dry throat, words ripping a series of coughs up from his chest. Each one sent a ripple through him and an ache up his spine, making him aware of his left arm currently done up in a sling and the decidedly hospital-like bed he was currently in. “No no no what the heck no.” He began chanting in his mind, too wary to attempt speaking again. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and attempted to sit up, only for the small room he was in to begin spinning as his vision began to go dark. He heard a buzz and the door of said room flickered and faded, allowing someone in, their footsteps tapping against the floor as they hurried to his side. “I’m so glad you’re awake, but please, lay back down. How are you feeling?” His vision wasn’t completely focused, but what he could see of their worried smile as they pushed him back down onto soft pillows made him want to match with one of his own, “With you here? My day is brighter already,” He managed, voice hoarse and throat scratching. They laughed. Exactly what he was going for. And okay, yeah, laying down was doing wonders to keep the room still. His vision was clearing and he could see their face now as they hovered over him. They, whoever they were, were tall and insect-like with large black eyes, thick antennae, and short mandibles making the lines of their mouth slightly warped, but he marveled when they moved, their skin vaguely bumpy looking and emerald green, shining in the limited light. “Do you still have a fever?” He jumped as their hand briefly touched his arm and realized he hadn’t been paying attention. “Sorry, what were you saying?” “You don’t feel abnormally warm. I was just asking you what your name was.” “Oh! Sorry. It’s-uh, Lance. My name is Lance,” He blinked, confused for a moment. “Just Lance?” They made a slight buzzing sound, their mandibles clicking, as they leaned back and summoned up a small screen from nowhere that floated in front of them and tapped a few things, “And where are you from? Were you with anyone?” “Was I….uh??” “I am sorry. We found you alone, and from what our scanners could tell us, you sustained a head injury along with your other quite worrisome wounds. You have been out for nearly an entire Phoeb.” “Oh.” “Do you remember anything?” Flashes that he couldn’t quite make out appeared in his mind, gone just as fast. Everything was so fleeting and small. Nothing made any sense, “I….,” he trailed off, cold starting to creep up his limbs in panic. “No need to worry Lance,” The alien’s hand was on his arm again, a reassuring touch, grounding him, “Memory problems are not uncommon with head injuries in species such as yours. There is a chance they may come back with time, and even if they do not Planet Yanides will provide whatever support you may need.” Lance let himself breathe with this reassurance, focusing on the state he was in for the moment, “How did I get here?” He finally asked, wanting to know something, anything. “Apparently a small squad with the resistance found you. I don’t personally know the details, but had you gotten here much later, I’m not sure you would have made it. Even now, seeing your progress I’m surprised. But then again, we don’t have any experience with the healing process in Alteans.”

I have so many ideas and we'll see how many of them play out but this is basically the start of Lance got into a major accident and his Altean features came out so with his amnesia no one connects him to Voltron who are frantically searching for him off in space somewhere.

Lotor is trying to form a relationship with the resistance and meets Lance there after he has recovered. The two end up teaming up to work on Lotor's research into alchemy and Oriande because once Lance starts to learn about it he's fascinated.

Side notes for au:

Lance and Matt become close while Lance is with the resistance and almost gets memories of Pidge triggered multiple times when they're hanging out.

Zarkon is also still actively alive and ruling the empire and this does not fall neatly into the canon timeline but think of it occurring after they are more comfortable being paladins of Voltron and they know Keith is part Galran but before taking down Zarkon(which I guess is solidly season 2 but again does not follow any sort of canon logic).

PRINCESS LINK OFFICIALLY HIT 10 CHAPTERS!!!! This feels like a big milestone <3 (◌˘◡˘◌) Ganon and Link are finally interacting and it feels like we're getting somewhere in the story. I've never written something this long before.

I just really like the idea of Zelda's relationship with Tri throughout the adventure and wanted to write some action using the limited echo ability

this is also propaganda for calling them Echo and Rift when referring to them among all the different Zelda and Link's in the fandom but they are not called this in the story (づ ￣ ³￣)づ
