i know that you've probably said it somewhere before, but i can't find it, so i wanted to ask- which character is which in Warped Beyond Recognition? i know you've listed off their subject numbers and titles in art, but i am struggling to figure out what actual names belong to which of the kids :(

I've laid it out a few times before; but here are the teenagers once more and how they're coming along in our care (heavy spoilers for the module "Warped Beyond Recognition", if you plan on playing or running it yourself);

Evander Budaj, Subject 01; "The Mech". Can psychically control any machine he can see and understand, including Androids. "Disfavored son" of a high ranking corporate figurehead. Went through an accelerated military training course and didn't come out with very good marks, but had an interest in machinery. Originally built his personality from watching old action movies, but is slowly relearning how to be a real hero with our crew. Learning strength, temperance, and selflessness from Adolfo. Still a bit of a goof, though. :)

Miriam Rios, Subject 02; "The Spider". Can extend her consciousness between multiple detached limbs (both flesh and prosthetic), controlling them apart from herself. Likely an orphan before the company got a hold of her. Had her legs brutally amputated with no anesthetic prior to her warp test, and experienced a mental break that reduced her to pure animal instinct. Has since gotten new prosthetic legs, and is slowly acclimating and finding herself again, through music. Caleb's adoptive daughter.

Billy Wei, Subject 03; "The Director". Was able to mind-control humans and puppet them into doing whatever he wanted. His parents had no hope for his future in theater, so they sold him off to the company for research and testing. We killed him the day we found him. Caleb has since been seeing him out of the corner of their eye, and the last time they saw him, he spoke to them. I don't think Billy's gone for good.

Jonesy Babbitt, Subject 04; "The Dreamer". Can put out psychic illusions, things that are ultimately not there but look and feel extremely real. Can also pull others into imagined alternate realities, trapping them within. Was brought onto the research vessel under false pretenses of earning credits in "academy classes for terraforming". Since rescuing, has become a younger brother to Sparks, living with her full time. Hopes to make better worlds, and into fantasy and medieval stories.

Yu Yin, Subject 05; "The Warp". Body became extremely unstable after her warp test. Anything she touched or interacted with would turn inside out on itself and violently fractal, including flesh. Previously a nun, company bought her from a slave trade to perform tests on. She's since been re-sleeved (had her consciousness uploaded into an entirely different body), and seems to have been stabilized that way. Never wants to participate in space travel again, in fear of losing herself again. We don't blame her. She'll likely find a religious body to dedicate herself to on Ortega Station.

Sonia Ellison, Subject 06; "The Ship". Cybernetically melded to the ship. Can see through the cameras across the ship, close and lock doors, redirect oxygen, and even engage warp drive. Has military intel training, and was at the top of her class in flight school. Was the catalyst in letting the other test subjects escape. Pretty chill with her current self, perhaps even happier as an entire ship now? Sparks handles mechanical upkeep across her new body, and in turn, Sonia does us the favor of acting as our ship while we do our freelancing. Sonia's the real boss, though. ;)

Does Sonia ever wish she could leave her vat? What would happen if she did leave her vat or if it ran out of its biogel?

From my understanding, Sonia's old body may be confined to the tank of biogel on the bridge, but her consciousness isn't exactly stuck in that exact spot.

Sonia has melded to the ship. She IS the ship.

The ship is her new body, and her old body is the brain of the ship. So, I wouldn't exactly call her stuck. She has as much freedom as a ship does. She's on the dossier as the ship's pilot!! :)

I do think the biogel is what's keeping her old body stable (she's hooked up to so many tubes and wires, it's likely in her blood and lungs at this point), so if there was ever a catastrophic accident that caused the isolation tank to get destroyed, who knows what might happen... I'm not sure I'd like to think about that.

But, the good news is that Sonia seems to be very content with her new self and who she is now! In fact, she might even be in a better mental state than before?

We all joke that Sonia is an objectkin girlie living her best life now as a giant warp-capable vessel. :) The best pilot in the whole system.

I seriously and totally doubt that there are any pools on Ortega Station (if there are, they belong to the rich elites).

But by god, I think Sparks deserves a break one of these days.

That's an interesting one, I think.

It immediately comes to mind, when Sparks was with Jonesy in the med-bay closet while the Fidanza was being boarded.

They were right next to the cargo bay, and could hear every single gunshot, but had no clue who was actually surviving said gunfight. Adolfo and Evander were a part of that gunfight.

She's been a Coward ever since, and it's been almost 3 years since then. She still hasn't shot a gun with actual bullets, despite owning and carrying an SMG. She just uses her tranquilizer pistol (which shoots darts instead).

Jonesy pulled Sparks into a different reality, put out illusions of a warm bakery, smells of real homemade bread (something Sparks has never had), and the sounds of chirping birds just outside the window. Jonesy took her somewhere far, far away from the horror, somewhere that felt safe.

They were still huddled together in the med-bay closet, but they wouldn't have to hear or think about the horrible things happening just a room away.

Sparks doesn't like to lie to others, and hates being lied to.

Lying leads to bad karma, after all.

Sometimes though... She can't really blame someone for lying.

Hello! I’m curious, what is Wrapped Beyond Recognition? I just saw some of your character art and the concepts behind some of them really intrigued me (especially the ship and the warped)

Warped Beyond Recognition is a module for the Mothership TTRPG!

Its story-line follows a research vessel in dead space, with six psychic test subjects that have effectively commandeered the ship in retaliation of their treatment. They're scared teenagers who are ready to kill anyone that gets in their way, and they're prepared to destroy themselves in the process. The antagonists of the story are also the victims.

[You can take a look at the listing on Tuesday Knight Games for it here! The listing includes images of the top floor (command deck) of the ship, Yu Yin's page spread (and her combat stats), as well as the iron-on patch that comes with the physical copy :)]

My party has already gone through this module, resolved it to the best of our abilities, and saved as many of the subjects as we could. We've even taken them on a separate job and scenario by now! They've developed as characters far past what they're written as on paper, so your experience with them will be far different than my crew's.

I really truly recommend this module for people looking for ways to get into Mothership!! The characters are great, and there are tons of weird story hooks that are easy to build off and write into fully fledged campaigns.

I love all the art you do for your Mothership campaign but it is also SO FUNNY to see stuff from *Mothership* get blorbofied!

It probably takes people who only know me from my most recent online presence by surprise?

But like. I've drawn gore in the past. I may be extremely squeamish but I don't shy away from horror. I like freaky things!! And Mothership scratches an itch in my brain I haven't had in a while!

Besides, what's the point of being an artist, playing in a campaign, and not doing any fanart of it? Everyone else at the table gets art of their characters too !!!

I want the vibe for Reed to be. this huge hulking brick wall who never talks but is incredibly powerful in the way they present themselves. i want them to be tall, wide, and terrifying. i want them to have very little moral code? i want the driving force behind their character to be the very fine line between "making a decision because its the right thing to do" and "making a decision because its the thing you have to do".

and i also want them to be so androgynous and agender to the point of confusing everyone in the vicinity about it

She lets Jonesy wear her work jacket sometimes. It absolutely swallows him up (three sizes too large), and it smells like oil and rubber.

But it's a nice gesture. :) It's nice to have a butch older sister who looks out for you.
