Check her stuff out! AMAZING writer, great story and I CANNOT wait for the next chapters. Brava!
welp….
i probably shouldn’t have listened to let down (radiohead cover) by mack lorén , televangelism (ethel cain), and house in nebraska (ethel cain) while writing chapters 14 and 15 of my avorah fic (of which i posted chapter 13 now).
anyway, now y’all know what inspired chapters 14 and 15 (when i post 14 tomorrow). they’re drafted and yes, i’ll be likely letting 14 linger to torture y’all, because 15 is dense.
but who knows? it depends on the reception of chapter 14 i think. but god, 15 is so perfect. so so perfect. it’s utterly beautiful. redemptive. it also diverges significantly from canon, now (if that’s a hint of anything).

This is actually very important. Attraction is individual and it is usually a combo of physical, emotional and intellectual components. We need to tell others what we like about them….even our friends, even people we are not planning to have sex with. Validation is essential for good self-esteem.
ive gotta say people on the internet being honest about what they find hot in people's bodies and behaviors has done more for my body image issues than any body-positivity mantra ever. thank you people on the internet for being horny about literally every possible part and variation of the human body and for sharing it

I rewatched 1x03 recently and the scene with Ava watching the unaired show is still one of the best scenes in the entire show. This ep fucked me up both times. Watching this younger version of Deb, this joyful, more openly affectionate and tender version of her and the immense love she had for her family at the time and the fact that it was clear that although driven and ambitious, they were her whole world and watching all that knowing what is to come is just so painful to watch.
to this day that is still my faaaaaaavorite scene because that was the moment when i was like ohmygod i GET it. it reveals soooo much about deborah as a character and also its the moment where ava gains this respect for deborah she didn’t have up into that point. it’s the catalyst for the entire rest of the story and gives it such depth. suddenly i was SO much more invested in them: as individual characters, their dynamic together, just all of it.
like—thats the first time we see ava genuinely laugh at deborah’s jokes! and deborah HEARS IT from upstairs and secretly creeps down to the landing because its a sound shes literally never heard. and that devastating look on her face when she sees its the late night pilot, it still emotionally destroys me to this day. and you’re so right, seeing that young, ambitious, openly affectionate, bubbly and loving version of deborah is absolutely gut-wrenching.
we can talk about the beach scene and “you are my voice” and “someone i love” but the discovering late night scene made me fall deeply in love with this show, and ive frankly never recovered.
i hope i never will
