“Alashiya...lovely name, though not very common. It’s nice.” Maximus offered to shake her hand even though he still felt a bit sheepish about tapping her shoulder earlier. “I’m Max.”

“Oh! Sorry! I thought you were someone else..”
Maximus chided himself for being so stupid. He immediately let go of the young woman’s arm, and fiddled with the handle of his umbrella.
It was no secret that it rained often in London, and this afternoon was no exception. He explained to the young woman that he was supposed to pick up his friend’s fiancé who’d gone shopping for her wedding. Seeing as how the groom wasn’t supposed to see the dress before the ceremony, Maximus’s friend sent him to do the honors.
So he’d arrived promptly at King’s Road, hoping to find a dark-haired, porcelain-skinned woman with a large shopping bag. At least that was the description he was given.
“So, I thought she was you…and now I assume she’s looking for me.” He said apologetically. “I’m sorry for the confusion.”
