Bringing a lil Pulsar, an aasimar/air genasi cleric (who belongs to my partner!) It was a good way to flesh out their design

I wanted to play with that marble texture so bad ngl- Pulsar is basically a bunch of energy contained in a doll-like marble body and I love them for it!! Slightly spooky creature, all around sweetheart

some of the first art i did of viel! the hand over his eye belongs to his goddess mabh, the queen of the winter court and his surrogate wine aunt who has absolutely no ulterior motives or hidden agendas behind giving him power

some significant npcs from viel’s backstory! clockwise from the top left:

- olivier, viel’s douchebag ex, a nobleman and the son of a factory owner who was a part of viel’s old heist crew. he was acting out of spite to cause havoc amongst high society, and viel accidentally killed him during a confrontation with the crew. one of viel’s main goals is to gain enough power to resurrect olivier, clearing his conscience and settling his debt to his old crew.

- yarrow, another member of the crew, a miner-turned-dancer-and-rogue who viel’s been hung up on for two years after he accidentally drove their fledgling relationship into the ground. yarrow initially recruited viel and gave him the nickname “blank” based on his shapeshifting— he can become a “blank slate” to mold into many different appearances

- natalya, viel’s adopted little sister and a talented mage. she’s gone off to the world’s foremost magical college in hopes of finding a way to reverse the process of transforming people into faelings and save viel from a lifetime of being hunted.

- amaranth, the leader of viel’s old crew who’s now the head of a revolutionary group organizing the coup the party is involved in. formerly a hunter working for the prince, she’s got some serious bad blood with viel for killing her friend and stealing from her crew, but is willing to put her grievances aside for the sake of the greater good.

basic sketch for viel/rhea’s new outfit! basically, a couple of sessions ago, the party killed the lord commander of the dead knights, which is the personal guard of the fascist prince who rules viel’s city. viel stole his armor to remake and repurpose, and this is what i’m planning for the result!

little details typed out, because in the words of one of my fellow players, my handwriting is “basically a spoiler warning”:

- the flowers in her hair are blue leminthus, a highly magical plant specifically from faerie. this is significant because the dead knights are known for hunting and killing people known as faelings— humans who have been corrupted and influenced by faerie magic, which the prince is aiming to stamp out. the leminthus are arranged as laurels, a symbol of faeling victory representing viel’s hopes for the rapidly-approaching coup.

- the pauldrons and collar are both lifted directly from the lord commander, then upcycled using glass. faerie magic, aka Mana, often appears as glass or crystals, and many of viel’s powers revolve around glass and mirrors.

- viel comes from a community of highly impoverished, highly exploited laborers that are often transformed into faelings by magical explosions and accidents in factories that manufacture magical weapons for the prince’s armies. the pants and belt are both traditional/standard issue factory worker’s uniforms modified and reinforced to withstand the fuckshit of adventuring. the boots are also old worker’s boots combined with the lord commander’s spurs.

- the coat/vest is made using fabric from the lord commander’s coat and mimics his silhouette. it is embroidered with the names of faelings murdered by the prince’s regime.

- there’s a series of tally marks under one of viel’s ears that’s a running counter of dead knights and hired bounty hunters she’s killed in both self-defense and retribution.

one of viel’s alter egos/disguises: rhea mill, aka blank. she’s got an axe to grind with her old heist crew and is gearing up to assassinate the prince of her city with the help of the party

absolutely fucking ancient art of an old dnd character that i still like! benji teodor flynn, teenaged runaway, deep gnome order of the profane soul blood hunter, haver of weapons grade daddy issues, and reader of many a bodice ripper. i’ve been re-making him and his story as a potential novella (or maybe even a graphic novel? i think it’d translate well), and his design has changed a bit since i made this, so i might redraw him soon :)
