Mod Han is so very pleased to announce Round 2 of the Monstertron Gift Exchange. All works will be centered around characters or situations involving monsters or other supernatural themes of your choice. All ships and characters are welcome and no hate will be tolerated.

Welcome Home - An Adashi Preview

Hey y'all. I'm blessed to be a part of the lovely @confirmedloverszine, a free Adashi e-zinr! We've got an amazing group of creators and moderators, and so much beauty all crammed together! Without further ado, here's a sneaky peek of my contribution, Welcome Home.

Takashi let out a deep breath, dismounting his horse, Silvermane, smoothly before looking towards the small pond he’d come to stop at. He let his steed wander towards the water’s edge as he looked up to the sky. The sun was high overhead, beating down on him as he waited patiently. It was his normal routine whenever he was at the summer manor. Wake up early, practice his swordsmanship in the courtyard, eat breakfast, deal with whatever mandates and decrees his father wanted him to deal with that day, have lunch, and then ride to the pond. Really, he was supposed to be practicing mounted combat. But what his father didn’t know wouldn’t get Takashi into any serious trouble.

The prince leaned to the ground, fingers closing around a smooth stone before lifting it. He tested its weight, bringing it close to a slight grey eye for examination. With a nod, Takashi determined this was a good one and drew back an arm. He propelled the rock forward, smiling softly as it skipped once. Twice. Three. Four. And it disappeared beneath the water.

The peace was suddenly broken by the sound of hands coming together. Takashi straightened with a grin, turning to the tree line. There stood the one he’d been waiting for, tall and tan and handsome. Adam strode towards the prince lazily, a soft smile on his face as he clapped.

“Good job, Takashi. I think one day you might beat my record. Of course, you’ll need to practice more.”

1) i wrote this for an exchange, and the person said they were okay with a bad ending. So i immediately junked on the murder train xD

6) I briefly played with the thought of Keith waking up in the aftermath, but ultimately scrapped for the 'everyone died' scenario

9) this and The Last Known Altean are the first two fics that i really showed the death in, so they really stabs out to me for that.

13) no music really set my state for this, but i listen to a lot of 80's, late 90's, and 2000's music when i write.

Parasitic: 1, 5, 9, 14 Eyes are the Window to the Soul: 1, 3, 6, 8 👀👀👀

Oh fuckin fuck that’s a lot. Okay lets get into this

Parasitic:1) I wrote the fic the way i did because that’s kinda just the way the idea came to me. It basically flowed straight from my brain out my fingertips and I’m about 99.99% sure it didn’t get beta’d soooo XD5) I think the hardest part was actually getting the courage to post it and not the writing of it in and of itself.9) This is the only draft. I literally wrote it and then posted it. XD14) Not really. It’s pretty much just shameless with no actual plot involved.

The Eyes are the Window to the Soul:1) So this fic was a story time that came from the Shance Support Squad Discord Server. It came out a few paragraphs at a time as I thought it up over a few hours. I think it took 3 in total?3) My favorite part is Shiro opening eyes and the first color he fucking sees is beige XD that was honestly the best part to me.6) I really felt more emotionally invested into this one. It involved a lot of sensitive topics and was really what brought me more into my love for writing langst, even if I had written it before.8) No. I can’t think of anything irl that inspired this, though I guess I kind of identify with Lance in the sense that i tried putting my everything into someone who wasn’t meant for me and ended up broken, but the one i was meant for took me even with my scars and my pain.

A Langst Drabble

Lance watched his friends happily milling about, leaning against the wall over in his quiet little corner of the event hall. It was inevitable that he’d become the wallflower instead of the life of the party eventually. Life was running its course after all, sucking away all the happiness Lance used to feign. Though lately it really seemed to be working harder to drain him.

The former paladin sighed softly, sipping at his drink. His old teammates were bunched together now, laughing loudly and jostling each other. They didn’t even really seem to notice that Lance wasn’t with him. Not that it really mattered since his place was occupied.

Lance definitely wasn’t bitter that Shiro was a married man now. No, if he’d been bitter then he wouldn’t be at the wedding reception. He wouldn’t have come to the ceremony. He wouldn’t have even given the wedding invitation a second look. No, he wasn’t bitter.

He was heartbroken.

He’d tried to make himself seen, and it obviously hadn’t worked. He’d given up on Shiro once before, when they were still a team. He’d made it clear that he was waiting to get home to Adam. So Lance had settled for his second love. And then he’d lost Allura. Shiro had been exceedingly helpful through the fallout, talking Lance through the pain he was feeling on the way back to Earth after they reunited with the Atlas. They’d kept a good friendship, and Lance thought he’d been doing well at slowly letting the feelings he’d been repressing show again.

But then the wedding invites came a few months ago, and Lance felt like he was ripped in half. He and Shiro had gotten so close. They told each other everything. Except, apparently, that one of them was in a relationship serious enough for marriage.

So no, Lance wasn’t bitter about Curtis standing next to Shiro. He was happy for him. He deserved happiness. And apparently it was what the universe wanted. In this universe, Shiro got his happy ending and lived happily ever after.

But as Lance set his empty glass down and slipped out of the reception hall without a single eye noticing his early retreat, he couldn’t help but dream of the universe where maybe, just maybe, he was the happy ending.
