when i was playing what remains of edith finch i got the fish cutting part and as i was doing it it went to a black screen but the sound was still there so i could cut fish in the dark just via the sounds of the blades and as i was doing it i was like wow what a beautiful and poignant representation of the darkness of depression and the monotony of work and i sat there cutting fish in the dark for about 15 straight minutes. anyway my game was bugged

caved and made a rusty lake/warrior cats au. i call it treeclan

i'm not really satisfied with the designs or names but it's already late so I hope you like it

here are the names:

James - Treestar (Vanderboom is Dutch for “of the tree” and since he is the founder of the family I thought it would be fitting if he was the first leader of the clan)

Mary - Honeyheart (Mainly because she’s associated heavily with motherhood. I also thought Honeyheart just sounded nice)

Emma - Petalfall (Obviously she’s associated with flowers, but I thought that her suffix being “fall” would represent how her life fell apart after being impregnated by a flower)

Samuel - Hawthornclaw (Honestly there’s no really reason, I just liked the name)

Albert - Monarchwing (He’s associated with butterflies, but the “wing” part made me think of torn butterfly wings, and then that got me thinking about how he theoretically “torn” Rose’s wings by installing a great deal of responsibility on her. I could also imagine him being called “Beescar” cruelly by Hawthornclaw)

Ida - Crystalview (she’s a fortune teller, kinda obvious. Side note but I so want more content on Ida. She’s one of Rusty Lake’s most mysterious characters. It’s shown she knew everything that was gonna go down in the Vanderboom family but still chose to marry Sam and be a Vanderboom. I desperately want to know why.)

Frank - Nightwatcher (I chose this name because of his personal level where he finds the timepiece, but also because Emma told him to look in the stars to find her, and then that got me thinking about his poor eyesight and how he would never be able to see her and then I got sad)

Leonard - Liondusk (Leonard is a name that roughly translates to “Brave as/strong as a lion) and with all the crap he goes through he’s definitely as strong as one. His suffix was because I was replaying roots and nearly all of his levels take place during dusk/night)

Rose - Roseshadow (MY SHAYLA but on a serious note: Rose because duh, and shadow because of how she’ll always be a shadow of her mother, and of how she’ll always live in her father’s shadow, forced to bring him back to life, torn between being a mother and a daughter)

Laura - Goldentear (ALSO MY SHAYLA. Golden because of her hair, but tear because of how sad her life is. God why can no one in Rusty lake be happy.)

this is coming from pure sleep deprivation but I thought of this and I can’t get it out of my head

-both are antagonists in their respective stories

-both have a significant scar on the side of their head

-both hate their brothers and end up killing them

-both end up having a daughter through non-conventional means (said daughter is related to a woman they once thought fondly of but is now dead)

-both undeniably love their children but are questionable as parents

-both were killed by family members

-both were still seen after death (Jinx hallucinating Silco and Rose reviving Albert)

-both attempt to kill a child they once knew (Albert with Frank and Silco with Vi)

I know I’m not cooking but I just needed to make this
