I nodded, and he shapeshifted into a white stag. Before he could turn around, I grabbed him by one of his antlers to place a kiss on his head. With my forehead pressed against his, I told him, “Be careful, My Heart.” He lingered just a moment longer before following the wolf’s noses. They jumped into the sky like a pebble skipping over water. I watched after them until they’d left the world’s atmosphere for the darkness of space.

It's important, especially for beginner writers, but to remind those who have been writing long term as well, that your writing, your stories, your characters and plots, they cannot be all encompassing, they simply cannot address every issue we individually and collectively face in the world today. They cannot completely and flawlessly represent every single person's lived experience in absolute depth and nuance, and that's normal, that's okay! What's important is for you to lean into the story you want to tell and the experiences and passions (themes, opinions, hobbies even) you want to share and explore, and make every effort to tell those things to the best of your ability — and tell a bloody good tale while you're at it 💕

Silver: High in the night, the moon shone with a silver glow.

Broken: Scattered here and there were the broken off tips of arrows as well as several fire-hardened spears.

Relate: He [Fen] could relate to what Gale had told the group. Knowing that you are a stranger, and having that feeling of not belonging.

Tender: Fen didn’t wait before he hugged her [Playa]. It went on for a while. Fen didn’t mean to, but this was something he hadn’t felt in years. The last time he had such a tender embrace was when his mother was still alive.

“Tree!” Lykos shouted over the wind as he pointed at something blocking the path ahead of them. The smile on his face was brilliant as he said, “I’m going to jump over it!” Cutie slowed her pace when she noticed the obstacle. Lykos spurred his horse. When they reached the fallen tree, his horse lifted off the ground, and they were soaring through the air. Just for a few seconds before they landed again. But they truly had been flying.
