I also love this and not just because it’s a cool unspoken collective fan thing. But imagine the in-universe reason for why that may be.

The easy headcanon is “Bones’ shirt is a different material not unlike medical scrubs. So it catches the light differently.”

But also, what if Bones’ started the same color as Spock’s but he just holds onto clothes longer. Or maybe he washes things the old fashioned way so the color fades.

What if the sterilization process for Sickbay has an effect on the clothes’ appearance? Like the chemical strips the dye so it only affects the medical officers. It becomes a show of pride for doctors who served long and adventurous careers to have a really worn out dull light grey uniform.

Bottom row is TNG, the other five are TOS (the turned ones are just reads in progress!). Most are numbered, but not all! The horizontal books are hardcovers! All of shatner's books are hardcover, bc why not (there are vertical hardcovers on a different shelf I know, they didn't fit)

The books on the top facing a different direction: the three left columns are duplicate copies of TOS books, the next is TNG, then DS9, and Voyager! I've stuck to TOS and TNG mainly, theres just so much content in star trek it can be overwhelming otherwise!
