we’re putting you in a featureless empty room, no windows, no doors, and never taking you out again. actually, this is your second time in there, you got to leave for a few minutes, but you’re back and you don’t get to leave again. for certain, this time. there’s nothing in this room. there is only you and this mouse. the mouse has done nothing wrong to you, except maybe bite you because you scared it one time. but it’s the only other thing in the room. how long do you think you would last.

and you know, maybe you think you’re a good person. and maybe you don’t like mice specifically, but this mouse, you like this one, it bit you but you like it.

it’s the only other thing in the room. you don’t get to leave.

so let’s say five minutes. five months. five years. fifty. five hundred. five thousand. how long do you think you can last. maybe you talk to the mouse. maybe you pet the mouse. maybe you try to be kind to the mouse.

and you’re going to run out of things to do again. you will. you don’t get to leave and there’s only so much pain that can be novelly inflicted. but right now, you can hurt the mouse.

you never liked the mouse. you were only kind to it to trick it into trusting you, so that you could hurt it. you can tell yourself this forever. you and the mouse. because it’s the only other thing in the room. and neither of you get to leave. so one day, you’ll both believe it.

you keep killing the mouse.

and then someone takes the mouse away from you.

you are alone in the room. and you don’t get to leave.

you think this is your punishment for hurting the mouse. you accept it.

time passes. time passes. time passes. you don’t get to leave. there’s nothing in the room but you.

the mouse deserved it. the mouse put you here, and it abandoned you, and you can’t accept a punishment that won’t end. not that you can do anything about it. you don’t get to leave.

you were supposed to be trapped here together, and instead, it’s free and you aren’t and it’s a mouse. all you ever did was what was expected of you. it’s a mouse, and it bit you, and broke the rules, and it doesn’t have to be punished anymore. but you do. there’s something wrong with you. you’re worse than the mouse ever could be, no matter what you do, and you always will be, and you always have, and that’s why all you feel like you’ve ever known is this fucking room.

you hate the mouse. and when you get your hands on it again, you’re going to make it pay for every second you had to be alone.

but you won’t. you know that. because you don’t get to leave.

Genuinely can't imagine the strength of the trauma bond that formed between Walter and Jesse. From day 1 they were locked in, mutual witnesses of a murder that just got more bloody and spiraled downhill from there.

This other person that's watched you scoop sludged human remains, watched you face death many times over, seen you at your most desperate, your most scared, how can you not just latch on?

I mean even just those hours of being locked in a trunk together facing almost certain death. And that's just up to the beginning of season two!!

Deadass if it was me, we'd be lifers, i'd be locked in. I'm honestly surprised that Jesse was able to separate himself from Walter as much as he was.

I was wondering what would make Walt and Jesse have a healthier relationship. Like, maybe more of a wholesome loving relationships like some of the fanfics. Then to come to the realization that they won’t ever. It’s either doomed and twisted or no relationship. Walter is a manipulative low level gaslighter hubristic creepy old man, and the only thing he can control is Jesse’s blindly trusting tail swaying approval seeking dumbass. Their relationship is mainly based on Walter’s huge ego, greed, and the needs to control, and Jesse’s ability to fulfill that need. If Walter doesn’t have that big of an ego, their relationship would have been way different, though probably much healthier, it will lose the intensity, since Walter would not feel that strong of a possessiveness towards Jesse, and constantly seeking for the fulfillment of being look up to, therefore he wouldn’t care about Jesse as much as he did. Jesse is discarded by almost everyone in his life, and “smaller ego” Walter would probably discard Jesse as well, when he sees Jesse as a liability to be get rid of once he cause inconvenience. Although if Walter was nicer to Jesse, gives him the security and validation he needed, Jesse would’ve been probably even more loyal and head over heels, but Walt is aware that even merely scraps of affection is enough to keep Jesse around. And making him fear losing that will have Jesse cling on to him even tighter. He pushes Jesse to the brink, then pulls him back just enough to keep him loyal. It’s classic abuse—break someone down, make them feel worthless, then offer just enough kindness to make them stay.

Their relationship had to be toxic to even exist. If Walter was healthier, Jesse would have just been another tool that he could potentially use. If Jesse was not starved for validation, less vulnerable, he would have been able to walked away successfully long before things got so bad. But because they’re both deeply broken in ways that perfectly complement each other’s wounds, they end up locked in this intense, destructive bond.

I AGREE I AGREE. COULDNT AGREE MORE. It's like, k he didn't get it but I see why go love him harder?! Like how hard is it to hug this guy super hard and say "I love you fitz" not that hard guys.

Half the posts I see about Fitz mention how he’s stupid and self sabotaging and like 90% of the bad things that happen in his life are his own doing… and like- yes, but also- 90% of the time I’m on his side 😭 Like 8/10 Fitz crash outs seem justified to me.
