With the Bluestar plot regarding Mist and Stone it really does only work to keep her as their mother if it’s a known fact that is kept hush hush.

A kind of “Can you believe she gave her kits up for no reason?” Type response outright, while trying to keep it on the down low later on. While mourning the kits they “lost” all those winters ago while knowing they were just given away. It’s still muddled plot line wise tho in my head but it makes a tad more sense as to how everyone just ignored it.

Having them be dead solves the solution easily too tho, since it doesn’t muddle the plot at all. Her secret is known, her kits have passed, and Mist + Stone are not related to her. Pretty short and simple.

But on an aside I’m loving flame point Cloudkit <3 precious little creature. I must ask though in regards to Leopardkit, any idea of how long she lasted until she passed away? Epilogue last time kind of gave the vibe she’d be gone very soon, but curious as to whether I was wrong or not.

It's a plot point that's pretty easy to solve. Kits were given up and everyone knows, or they died, or she could have kits and still be deputy, the list goes on. How they did it in the books just carves out so many plot holes that it's unbearable.

As for Leopardkit, she died pretty quickly - she didn't even last a week. She was just too small and frail and lethargic to make it. When she stopped nursing, Goldenflower knew what was coming. Not that it made it any easier.

Frecklewish! I am going to continue with Mapleshade's Vengeance designs through Thunderclan just because I had the motivation for it now rather than later. She is polarized in our fandom but I've never had strong feelings about her as a character. I am pretty sure that she is a younger cat in MV, but she just read to me like a childless woman archetype in such a way that I designed her a bit like a disney spinster. I don't know that I care a ton whether she actually resides in the dark forest or not, but the way she grieves by projecting her attachment to an idea onto children does rub me the wrong way. But that also makes her a complex and flawed character so! At least she's interesting haha

Oof once again you've created an extremely compelling situation where nobody is really right or wrong. RisingClan is really feeling that lack of a mediator right now, though Goldenstar did an excellent job managing the situation. I feel awful for Luna. She should've communicated her thoughts to Floodstrike, yes, but she thought she didn't have to, and her society seems like it will look very harshly on an unmarried woman with kids, especially kids that are part wild cat.

I do think that Luna is well within her rights to demand involvement from Floodstrike in raising these kits that he helped create, even if he's not feeling ready. Like it sucks to have to be a parent before you're ready, but actions have consequences and this is unfortunately a lifelong one. He doesn't have to be her mate, but the kits deserve to have a father-- thankfully I think that he's going to get there mentally, since he was thinking that he didn't want them to see him as a deadbeat like Ghost, and simply because they way Clangen works I imagine this storyline was prompted by Floodstrike showing up with kits.

Anyways, the degree to which he is involved needs to be agreed on with mediation from a third party-- I imagine another Clan's mediator could help with this, though they will still have Clan cultural bias. I think this will be difficult regardless of who mediates though, since the two cultures having very different ideas of what appropriate involvement looks like. I think its going to be difficult to convince the city cats that Floodstrike can still take responsibility without becoming Luna's mate. Can't wait to read more!

hate when people think the only archetype possible for a male sidekick to a female protagonist is a soft boi and/or himbo. like the implication there is that the only reason a man would ever defer to a woman’s authority is if he was a bumbling idiot. love male supporting characters who are smart and strong and confident and can step up when necessary but still kind and humble enough to let someone else take the lead most of the time

When I saw about Tinyclaw, it reminded me of a funny brief idea I had of a character named Volepelt or something. Because when they were little? THEY WERE TINY. But growth spurt hit later on and they became absolutely MASSIVE. Volepelt never felt the need to change their name, either. So a cat from another Clan hears about Volepelt and imagines a small little cat but then they see this titan of a cat approaching and go "BY HOROA'S TEETH WHAT IN THE FU-"

There's a reason size prefixes aren't popular among queens!

it’s been awhile since i’ve interacted here due to various circumstances but over the course of maybe two days i sat down and reread this entire story starting from moon one to present day and just wanted to say that this is truly an incredible work. i’ve noticed so many little details about every single character, the smallest bits of foreshadowing which are laid out ages before the actual events happen, and it never ceases to blow my mind. risingclan’s saga has been cemented as my favorite warriors-based story of all time, i’m so honored to have watched it progress all the way back in 2023. been meaning to cook up some fanart earlier but never got around to it till now, so here are my biases sagetooth (fly high 🕊️) and oddstripe! thanks for continuing to work on this project it but even if it goes unfinished just having shared it in the first place sincerely means the world and still inspires me to improve my own writing!
