Relationships are scary and complicated ONLY when you start thinking of your partner as some kind of adversary. 

You know how to stop being scared of relationships? Remember that it’s got a goddamn buddy system *built in*. That’s all a relationship IS: “Let’s approach life with the buddy system.”

Check on your buddy. Make sure your buddy doesn’t forget their lunch box on the schoolbus. Hold hands with your buddy so you don’t get lost. If your buddy wants to look at the monkey cage, look at the goddamn monkey cage with them. If you are the one looking at the monkey cage, ask your buddy what they want to do next, and when they want to feed the giraffe, help them find a quarter for the little food dispenser. Be a good buddy, and if your buddy isn’t a good one too, tell the teacher and ask for a new one.

I really hate the way having internet friends or running a blog or doing anything except Facebook and google searches is seen as invalid or weird

Like I’m very honest about my blog with my coworkers but this particular one was almost making fun of me because I said how I’m trying really hard to pay for college and I said that I’d gotten a handful of donations online (thanks so much for that by the way) and she was like “what, did you do a gofundme?” but in a very derisive tone

Screw that. I’ve actually been thinking of doing some sort of Kickstarter and it’s not embarrassing to have friends or support online. Stop laughing at people because the Internet is becoming more and more of a legitimate arena in which to meet friends and talk and share experiences. I used to be embarrassed about having a blog and having to explain that to people and while some still are like “uh okay” or think I’m weird for talking to people online, I’ve discovered that several are very supportive and impressed.

I’m so annoyed with every person I’ve encountered in life who has acted like it’s lame to be online in the capacity that I am. Adults treat me like if I’m on my phone that means I’m disrespectful and unmotivated and the stereotypical teenager with earphones in and their hood up. Screw that too, because I’ve created an online magazine out of scratch and run the ENTIRE production over the Internet, and I’ve helped so many people – and they’ve helped me in return – and had so many important experiences and made so many connections.

So don’t feel bad or ashamed to tell people about all the things you do on the Internet (blogging, making videos, etc.). And just to spite that particular coworker, I’m more determined than ever to potentially start a Kickstarter campaign and actually get enough money to go to college. Which is probably not going to happen, but A for effort on my behalf.

Ignore the judgmental people in your life, guys. They’re just clueless and frankly missing out on a lot of great things if they’re going to wrinkle up their nose at you when you talk about being online. You do you.

Open letter to people who have corrected mocks:

Dear correctors of Home Ec examinations: Uncalled for, in my opinion, how badly these exams are marked. Literally just by adding the number in the columns, you can see that you just plopped whatever grade you felt like on the damn results box. You get paid money to correct and give as many marks as possible, yet you give me a 45% and when I revise it myself without even looking at a marking scheme, I have 58%. Hopefully, you don't teach impressionable teens and give example of your lazy ways, and I hope to lord above that no poor students are stuck with you correcting their leaving cert. Sincerely, a pissed off hardworking student.

Mocks : Day 3

Today wasn't so bad at all really. Just English paper 1 in the morning. Fairly easy paper under the theme of success, 100 marker titles weren't great though I did a personal essay but I think I'll only probably 50/60 marks in it.

Did Yeats come up in any of the mocks? (Yours or your friends). And what kind of questions came up for Lear? And for the comparative study? I do HL Chemistry & in my mock, questions I got were: The Ethyne test (know how to draw it) , chemical equilibrium, Water, Radioactivity, Anion Tests, History of the Periodic table, ionisation energies & EDTA titration

Yes yeats was on both mocks and on one mock the lear questions were : ruthless and forceful sister or themes and symbols, the other was dramatic moments of cordelia and the fool or metaphorical and literal blindness. Thank you so much!

Mocks Day 2

Well today wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. First off was home economics. One of my better subjects, couple of risky topics however. I feel like I did reasonably well and that I have a good Base to build up the rest of my study on. Long questions weren't too bad but parts of the short questions hadn't been brushed over in quite a while. After that was french and oh boy... Two quite difficult comprehension, the 90 word piece I didn't even understand the title so I did the ol' "write thirty words and run out of time" trick.. feel a bit guilty about it but sure it's just the mocks. The other longer questions weren't too bad, my teacher had thrown worksheets at us with the contents of them on them so that helped us prepare a lot but can't do thay for the actual leaving cert so it makes no difference. A lot of people left really early and that made me quite scared as to are they writing a lot or did everyone just give up?? Beautiful day off tomorrow however, gonna get some study in for irish and maths. Spending the day in my grandmothers also, she's great fun.

Mocks: day 1/14

Today was English paper two, probably the longest exam with the most amount of writing. Pure banter. I hadn't done much revision of King lear myself but we did a lot during class so I thought it'd be grand to just revise some character questions last night. Lear essay was very long and probably incomprehensible but whatever its just the mocks. Comparative was fairly atrocious even though I've done a fair bit of revision and practice. Think I just panicked because the question looked too easy.. Poetry : DAMN LYING ENGLISH TEACHERS !! They told everyone that Elizabeth bishop wasn't going to be on it and GUESS WHO WAS ON IT WITH THE EASIEST QUESTION!! THAT'S RIGHT!! But I was going to do Paul Durcan anyways, as I actually enjoy his work and find him a bit more relatable as he's still alive Unseen poetry was a load of shite lol Anyways that's the worst of it over, now to try cram French and hone ec in :( I'm fairly good at home ec but french will make me absolutely cry Oh well

Help!!

Anyone doing leaving cert mocks in ireland currently? I'm just wondering if you have done the following papers as I'm struggling with my study for them and if you have any hints/tips or predictions?? Papers: HL chemistry HL French HL home ec Thank you very much, so far I have done english HL paper two mock, wasn't too hard but my friend had done the other mock and I had been expecting that paper but anyways it didn't go too badly as I was quite prepared! Even if you aren't doing your lc this year if you have any tips they're so welcome! Thank you
