Iran and Israel are at war now and this war has diverted attention from Gaza and the massacres happening there. Gaza is still suffering. In fact, it is getting worse every day and all the news is about the Iran and Israel war. Gaza is no longer important, it no longer exists. I ask myself, are we human beings like you or are you different from us? Why is this? Why are we no longer important? You share sports and funny things but do not share posts of people whose children are dying in front of their eyes. Tumblr users make me feel that you will never forget us and will stand with us by donating to my family who lives a life full of so much pain and share so it reaches those who can contribute to the donation. Thank you to all the countries and all the people who donated to me so that my family and I can live a simple life and escape death, hunger and fear. Don't forget the pride month so you must be good for this month.

from the depths… comes a magazine?

NEXT STOP: DEEPSEA METRO was my piece for team future for @grandfestzine ! i wanted to imagine what a line in the metro after octo expansion would possibly look like by the time of splatoon 3, with a tiny hint of inspiration from the haikara walker artbook. (more under the cut here)

a lot of my references for these pages were teen magazines, particularly seventeen magazine issues from around 2002-2004, and advertisements with the (checks notes) gen x soft club style. i don’t think it stood out, but hey. i like helvetica.

most of this was to kinda follow up on octo expansion’s elements of memory and nostalgia though with a slightly different lens as things are a bit different. inkfish from the surface (likely inkadia here) are leaking in as turf war culture spreads (they probably saw decaying testing stations with turf war stage copies and thought “hey. we could work with this”)

and well. nostalgia for past toys, trinkets, clothes can be a double edged sword. consumption for such is capitalized on by corporations, and mass consumption just for the aesthetic can be wasteful! you can also make something into your own, reuse and revitalize things you once loved and cherished into something that represents you. that’s why a part of me wanted to make a lot of the weapons and specials plastic and toy-like too for that same reason.

i think the connection between individuality and consumer culture is interesting, especially in the world of splatoon where fashion and weapons are a really big thing. but i mean, of course it’s not going to be that visible under vivid colors and fresh fits. it’s an advertisement, after all ^_^”

Funding Education in Gaza

The genocide has completely upended normal life for all Gazans, including their access to education. Isnad (@isnadfoundation) is helping to provide education to students in Gaza. You can learn more about Isnad and the incredible work that they do on their website.

Currently, they are trying to raise $3,500 (USD) for rent and to continue operating to serve students in Gaza. So far, they've received about $2k/3.5k, and they still have $1.5k to go. The foundation is on a deadline and only has 2 days left. This is an urgent, time-sensitive situation. If they don't receive the funds they need, Isnad will not be able to help provide education to students in Gaza any longer.
