and similar to my previous post, sometimes it feels like I'm watching way too many anime or anime genres... out of order?

As in I'll focus on new releases a lot / seasonal anime, and then binge older shows and movies in between, usually the most recomended or good stuff from whatever topic interesting me the most

Especially with genres like isekai, I feel like this has ended up with me watching a few of the rated best/better series, and then realizing there arent many other good options left, or my bar has been raised just a bit too high for perhaps genres not meant to have that expectation?

just finished the my next life as a villainess anime, and I hate to conclude that the show.... ended up kinda boring to me. Which sucks, cus I saw the potential in the beginning!

The characters are likable and the poly thing and such is nice, stuff I usually like!

But.... I think the setup of the typical otome isekai has gotten way too stale waaaaay too quickly for me?

I've probably seen... about 4 series in the genre, I think?

Started with the tsundere liesolette just a few years ago, then the raelianna one, taming final boss, and the recent one where the dad becomes the villianesse?

So like.... 5 series total including this

And with just those alone I feel like the basic formula is just.... waaaaay too stale for me. Oof.

(There was like one more series I got halfway through but just stopped watching and cant remember the name of too....)

Other than a few series that had a more hard comedy centric focus like final boss or the interesting enough gimmick like the other world commentary, most of these series really just feel like the same thing repackaged.... there arent really enough stakes, enough character flaws, enough.... idk, action or spectacle? Something else to keep me engaged?

And to be fair I am definitely not the target audience for these, but still! It feels like there isnt enough to grab into different than what came before. And it sucks, cus I really wanna continue finding gems in this genre! I know they're more junk good type brain off series, but it's difficult to watch when I'm tired and it has nothing going on but some polyness potential. Love the poly harems going on usually, but it doesnt feel like enough? Idk

Feels like I keep watching genres out of order and doing the better series first and thus souring what inspired them, rip. Happened with normal isekai too...
