Having some writer's block on my Tevan "Evan Buckley vs the HOA" fic. Still need to write most of the actual semi-plot relevant first half of this chapter. On the bright side I have the second half which is about 1200 words of domestic, family fluff that spawned from a throwaway line in the first half of the chapter written (And, most importantly, yes Jee does get to meet and pet Mr. Scruffles the dog). Here's a little preview from that half of the chapter:

After eating and cleaning up breakfast, Evan pulled out the clipboard that held the checklist he made for the lunch cooler and beach bag they would be taking to the waterpark. He walked over and took a knee in front of his niece’s chair, looking at her very seriously, “Okay, Miss Buckley-Han, you have a very important job this morning. You get to be in charge of the checklist, okay? You’ll read each item out and then Tommy and I will get it and put it in the bag or cooler. Once we put it in you can put a checkmark by the item on the list. Alright?”

Jee nodded excitedly while Tommy watched the two with a soft smile. She had inherited her uncle’s love of being in charge of a clipboard. Despite the earlier than intended start, today was definitely going to be a good day.

So the Tevan brain rot has officially won and I couldn’t get this idea out of my head so I started writing fanfic again for the first time in a decade 😅

Still thinking about Clipboard!Buck and …

Buck and Tommy just moved in a new house, their house. But it’s in a HOA and the women around here are wild and merciless.

Coming after the way they cut their frontward. The color of their curtains and other stupid things HOAs like to complain about and Buck goes on a rampage

First he fix what they complain about so they can’t complain anymore about it

And then he reads every documents ever created since this HOA creation. Reading old regulations and their amendments, leading everything that ever happened in that area before pulling out his clipboard and going around and flagging other houses as well.

Pulling old rules that were never amended and are ridiculous but they’re still valid.

And Tommy just look in awe and fear at his boyfriend going after each neighbors without mercy

Brilliant. Just imagining the next 118 bbq after this happens and Tommy is talking to Chim and Hen about how he regrets moving into an HOA neighborhood. Chim and Hen start teasing him “aw is the fire rescue pilot afraid of a couple HOA board members” and Tommy is just like “no, no I fear for the HOA board, my Evan is ruthless with a clipboard” and explains what happened. Chim and Hen are now dying of laughter, meanwhile off to the side poor Ravi has been listening in and is now having war flashbacks of clipboard!buck.

i’ve been rewatching schitt’s creek season four on the netflix, like one does, and i really love how david/patrick promises that a human-shaped pit of endless melodramatic, pessimistic anxiety can find the person who will love (and, okay, gently mock) them always for being just the way they are. like mrs. and mr. bennet, but sappy.
