Sacrifices in Sacramento (synopsis)

The definition of adulthood has Rider Whitlock in a choke hold. For all his life, he's been coaxed into pursuing the rule of solving his problems through orchestrating violence and criminal activity in cold blood. He's worked his way to become the ultimate successor of his father. Not by choice. Now nearing the scapegrace age of eighteen, he's engraved an image of an undefeated, undaunted gang leader who rules the streets. However, with the growing decreed in community justice his father has taken advantage of him by exploring the depths of Rider and his ability to disembody the mystery behind a series of vanishing gang members and a drifting enigmatic drug.

But, it doesn't end there, as Rider's trust and resilience are being challenged when he unwillingly gets acquainted with a new kid in the neighbourhood, August Barlowe. Playful and teasing with a clement spirit, he had come into Rider's life at an uncertain time.
