Reminded of my hypothesis that Roegadyn men, at least in canon, need time to cook. They just aren't worth much until past age 40, or even beyond. Anyone younger is often depicted in game as a buffoon, a reckless hothead - or worse, a villain. Sometimes due to upbringing and ignorance (Grynewaht) or because they enjoy being evil (Doesmaga).

Unfortunately, I've seen this affect players of Roegadyn men. I remember one of the rare times I went to a roleplay event a Roe gentleman showed up and immediately several of the other characters, mostly male player characters themselves, got in his face, posturing and pulling tough guy acts, when he had barely done so much as say hello. We spoke a little, and ran into each other at some events, and once I ran into him and he had fantasia'd to Elezen. He had gotten so tired of being bullied and harassed and assumptions made of his character, used to try to prop up how tough guy cool some mi'qote felt, just because he was a Roe man.

Really sucked (and contributed to my growing disinterest, among other things, to stay out of the RP scene, especially on Dark Autumn, and stick to fanfic, blogging, and activities with close friends only).

Anyroad. The older Roegadyn men we meet in story tend to be solid. Eynzahr is probably the first example that comes to mind, an old pirate who is Totally Not Mistbeard and gave that life up to support Merlwyb and her vision for Limsa Lominsa's future. He's steady, thoughtful, and tempered by decades of experience. Ketenramm (aka Tankwa) follows along those lines.

A renowned adventurer missing for decades, Ketenramm is famous for discovering a way past the Shades Triangle to reach Tural (not Hingashi as he thought) when he was, per the most recent lore, not even 20 years old yet. Merlwyb later made her name discovering the safe southern route to Tuliyollal, but the way was blazed by young Ketenramm, who found more adventure in Tural alongside Gulool Ja Ja and company. Together they changed that realm.

Now, elderly but still more than fit enough to fight, Ketenramm wants to complete one last mystery, one last voyage. He doesn't have to sell this idea too hard to the Warrior of Light; they're cut from the same cloth as adventurous explorers.

But Ketenramm is so very experienced and competent. He is eager for that thrill of discovery - but never reckless or stupid about it. He uses his knowledge and experience several times just in the introduction to the Occult Crescent as the Phantom Village and other intro areas are explored.

And he relies on his crew. He keeps in mind his original shipmates that got past the Triangle with him. A granddaughter of one of those men is on this voyage. Ketenramm is quick to rely on the team's expertise and advice. Everyone has their role, and he manages them as any good commander should.

It's a good reminder and nice representation, when so often Roe men are reduced to clownish thugs, the butt of jokes due to their size. Unless they're middle-aged.

So hold tight, ladies. Like a fine wine, Roe men just have to be allowed to get it out of their system and age properly to be as swoon-worthy as ol' Blue Eyes.

My current not-approved-by-the-government opinion is that im not anyone's parent and i should not be responsible for random teenagers online. If I post smth thats 'meant for adults' and its labled as such then what happens from there is literally not my problem. If a teen- who is fully capable of turning on self moderation settings on their own btw- doesn't use a site's provided self moderation settings and they see boobs or dicks then like literally whatever, its neither the end of the world or a big deal. It shouldn't fall on me or a website or a tech company to do a parent's job, and also frankly i don't think a parent should be breathing down their 16 year old's neck on the off chance they do actually want to look at tits, but thats a discussion that americans will fucking throw a fit at so maybe we'll discuss that another day in better company.

Lehon'a laid at the end of the lounge chair that the three of them had been promised by Haermaga, content to simply listen to her partners talk over the din on the top deck. Their skating trip from Limsa had taken some energy out of all three of them, but this was the perfect place to relax and recharge.

They'd arrived early enough that it hadn't truly started to heat up, despite the sun making its daily climb towards the center of the sky.

The afternoon heat's the perfect time for a dip in the pool, Lehon'a thought, and perhaps I can drag these two away from their books long enough to push them down the waterslides.

In the meantime... perhaps I'll try one of the drinks. Lehon'a took a deep breath through her nose, trying to capture more of the tropical aroma that had wafted over in her direction. That smells heavenly! Just a few minutes more and I'll think about getting up...

A noise from across the deck shook her from her thoughts, but the familiar voice meant she didn't need to open her eyes to identify the source.

"Come on, Beau, doesn't the water look so inviting! It's far too warm already not to jump in!"

Lamaty'i's excitement carried all the way across the deck, and the heavy footsteps going past meant that she was likely already in motion towards the pool. She could only imagine Beau trying to mentally brace for the imminent cannonball her girlfriend no doubt intended to do as she jumped in.

Lehon'a turned her focus back to her partners, once again tuning in to a dense scholarly conversation that would've seemed comically out of place on a party boat coming from anyone else. And yet, Lehon'a thought, I wouldn't have it any other way.

In light of the recent mod incident, I thought up my top 10 for QoL/accessibility features I want in FFXIV:

1) Better friend list.

It's slow to load and clunky to parse. It in general feels like it is lifted from a 90s or 00s game (or rather, it even feels like poorly implemented online components from that era).

2) Portable Orchestrion.

The ability to listen to any orchestrion rolls I've collected anywhere. Depending on how you look at it, this might make mount music redundant, but I just view it as more options.

(In fact, give mounts their own arragements to still keep them unique, some have default expansion specific music that's really boring.)

3) The ability to change AoE colour.

This could help mitigate the Recollection EX or P3 issues of colour overlap and visual clutter while keeping developer vision in tact for those who aren't bothered by it.

(Though the issue often isn't the regular AoE indicator in that case, it is the general colour design, I think this would be helpful on some level.)

I imagine this would help players with visual impairments a bunch (such as colour blind people).

4) More marker design options.

The stylised font can be seen as a fun flavour choice, but I want more simple options with clear-cut visuals. No more 4 that looks like G.

5) A bunch of improvements to the PF interface.

- Sometimes a spot gets locked to a specific job when someone leaves and people don't notice, so a bunch of time is wasted waiting for spots to fill.

- When you make your own PF, the window closes any time someone joins.

- Options for different window layouts or fonts because especially with Recollection EX last patch I noticed how people just don't read.

It always has been an issue, but it is more so when there are a good amount of strats that have slight variations.

I think there should probably be some layout options which place more emphasis on the description.

6) Easily accessible Ping and FPS counter options. Can be very useful when DCs happen.

7) The ability to Data Center travel or World travel from all Aetherytes.

Just much more convinient.

8) Some form of region-wide PF.

I think a global one would be become too much of a mess and would probably lead to the real loss of World/Data Center/region specific communities, but a specific region-wide PF would solve the issue of needing to data center travel to raid.

Everyone could stay on their home worlds while having access to their respective PF (NA/EU/JP), which I feel like would create a similar equilibrium to pre Data Center travel PF.

9) A digital notebook/journal to write down notes for anything you encounter in the game.

I came upon this idea while thinking about how it would be really cool if Pictomancers got a rudimentary drawing tool for leveling the job just like how Bards can play instruments.

I noticed how useful it could be especially with the puzzle section in 7.3 and its multipart (even if easy) memory puzzles.

I think having the in-game tools to solve the puzzles of the game or even the ability to jot down notes for various fights or dungeons or MSQ (which would be especially useful after a longer break) would be really nice, add a level of creativity to the journey and be much more immersive to boot.

Of course, there probably would particularly be issues with any visual tool because people just can't behave themselves regarding adult content, but a purely personal notebook would still be wonderful, I think.

10) If you can't give more inventory space otherwise, I think most of the key item menu could be converted to additional slots. I think just one pane would be enough and if at one point it could fill, a vendor could be added for item recovery.

These are some immediate ones I'd like.
