GLASS HEARTS: Chapter Seven Nestor Octeva Fanfiction
Word Count: 1152
Nestor watched as Ruby struggled with her words, how she refused to look at him. He could handle torturing all kinds of people to extract information from them, but he could feel guilt rise into his chest like acid for lying to the redheaded woman before him. His thoughts were starting to cloud and the once sure man was beginning to doubt the choice he had made. Yet it was also too late to turn back, for here Ruby was telling of her past life.
"When I left for college, I vowed to myself to never go back." Laughing slightly at that statement Ruby finally looked Nestor in the eyes. "Forever and never are two short words that represent a significant amount of time in one's life. Any who I broke that promise, ended up returning home when Abel was born and stayed through six years of hell before finally leaving. Probably the only people from that life I keep in contact with are of course my mother, and Happy. Though the latter of the two is more spiritic than consistent." Ruby took a deep breath and looked out the window beside her. It wasn't everything but how was one supposed to expose themselves and all the trauma they endured?
Moments that felt like hours past before one of the two finally broke the silence. "If that life was so difficult, why did you choose to work for the Galindos? Surely you knew what kind of world you were getting yourself into?" Nestor probed.
"Maybe I am just glutton for punishment." Ruby slightly laughed. "I promise none of my old connections would have been a part of what happened. It's been at least four years since I left and all of those bridges were burnt." The redhead got serious again, finally looking at Nestor with pleading eyes. "Nestor, I swear on my life that my past life has nothing to do with Cristobal's kidnapping. I want him found just as much as you." Boldly Ruby reached her hand across the table gently taking the man's hand in front of her. "Please believe me."
The man, in the cartel world known as a mercenary was melting at the simple gesture of holding a woman's hand. Not just any woman, but again he has to remember his position as head of security for the Galindos. Clearing his throat, Nestor removed his hand from Ruby's. "I believe you, just had to confirm and get the story from you. Instead of assuming."
Nestor watched Ruby, how she moved her hand back to her coffee, how the redhead fidgeted with the position of her cup. All he wanted was to reach across the table and hold her hand again. 'What is this woman doing to me?' Nestor thought to himself before looking in Ruby's eyes. The mercenary knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was telling the truth. Even though he did not know her as he wished, Nestor knew she wouldn't lie. What he was itching to know most was her actual relationship with the rough biker.
"How are things at the house? How is Emily?" Ruby so desperately wanted to change the topic. Her heart sank the moment Nestor pulled his hand away, avoiding his gaze and feeling foolish. 'What was I thinking, he probably saw the way Happy kissed me and wants nothing to do with that.' Ruby berated herself for being so bold. She was actually so wrapped up in her own thoughts, she completely missed what Nestor had said.
"Ruby?" Nestor finally stopped talking about the family he and the redheaded woman worked for. The mercenary took notice in the absence of joy in the woman's eyes. This time he was the one to slightly touch the other's hand. Almost instantly Ruby was pulled from her trance and looked at the man before her.
"I'm sorry, I zoned out. Do you mind repeating? Promise I'll pay attention this time." Ruby admitted sheepishly.
"I was just saying how Emily is doing the best that she can with the situation. It's interesting to watch though because she has been more invested in the family business than ever. Are you okay though? I know our conversation about your past must have been difficult but you seem even more out of it than before." Nestor examined Ruby, her eyes were dark and normally that was the only place he would find light.
"Yeah. It's just that talking about everything is practically dejavu, old demons coming back to haunt. I'll be fine I promise." Ruby smiled but Nestor could see right through it. "Are you doing okay Nestor? We've been talking about me and my past but haven't even discussed how you are handling the chaos back home."
She was deflecting, her heart was genuine but he also knew she was deflecting. "I have been alright. Just trying to keep everyone safe, get Cristobal back, and keep Miguel sane." Laughing slightly at the last half of the sentence Nestor continued. "The latter of those though is probably the most difficult."
The small redhead tilted her head to the side observing the man before her, his walls were slowly coming down. His face became softer as he spoke of those he held near to his heart. Ruby saw similarities between the two but they were also vastly different from one another. Both were rough around the edges, with glass hearts surrounded by barbed wire to protect it, though their exterior is sharp, the heart was soft. It is fragile that has been calloused by this world and they have learned to protect it the best way they could. Ruby noticed how they were different from each other as well though. How Happy was always rigid, even around his club. Yet Nestor was a lot more relaxed around the Galindos. Although Nestor would be on high alert while out, when home he was a lot more relaxed.
"Nestor, how did you join Galindo's security team?" Ruby finally spoke after an extended pause.
"Miguel and I grew up together, we were practically brothers. Once we graduated high school I joined the Navy and Miguel left for college. Although we knew he was going to take over the family business someday. When my time in the military was up Mr. Galindo reached out for me to join the security team, then once Miguel took over I was promoted." Nestor paused for only a moment before starting up another conversation.
This went on for sometime, the two having conversations about how they grew up, likes and dislikes. For the first time in the time spent working together they were genuinely getting to know one another on a personal level. It was Nestor's phone ringing that interrupted the two talking. One of the men from the Galindo security team called and by the expression on Nestor's face their time was up.

Did you know September is PCOS awareness month? What is PCOS? Glad you asked, it is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Basically there are cysts on the ovaries and hormone imbalance. You might be asking, "what does this have to do with me?" 1 in 10 women are affected by PCOS, so while you may not know who has it there is most likely at LEAST one person you know with it. How can you tell? Truth is, you can't. It's different for everyone, for someone it's being overweight, others access hair/hair loss, depression, moods swings, infertility, and more. The photos I've posted sheds some insight of what living with PCOS may look like, not only that but the last one are some ways to help manage. Sadly there isn't a cure but maybe one day. Stay informed and do your own research and at least for me it's okay to ask questions! #pcosawarness #pcosawarenessmonth #cysters https://www.instagram.com/p/CToClPnsEVE/?utm_medium=tumblr

Four-thirty
*Found a writing prompt recently and as soon as I read it I knew I had to do a quick story for Chibs.*
ENJOY!
Music flowed from the speakers as Anastasia danced about the kitchen, preparing for the meal to come. Today was a rare occasion, in which her and her old man had the same day off. Anastasia was a RN at the local hospital; while her old man Chibs was part of the local MC, Sons of Anarchy, it would seem as though most of their time was spent apart. Although they both had the day off, the two spent it very differently from each other. While Chibs could sleep all day, Anastasia was so used to getting up at 5am, her body just naturally woke up when that hour struck. So instead of staying in bed doing nothing, the petite brunette got up and just began to clean the house in preparation for that night. At this point in the day, the house had been cleaned from top to bottom sparkling clean, the only thing left was to start preparing food. As Anastasia danced about the kitchen, she had failed to notice her old man standing in the entryway of the kitchen till he cleared his throat to gain her attention.
“Will ye stop that lass? It is too early for ye to be in such a good mood.” Chibs fully entered the kitchen at this point, reaching for a coffee mug.
Slightly laughing, his old lady looked between him and the clock on the wall before replying. “Babe it’s four-thirty in the afternoon.”
Snapping his head up, Chibs looked between the clock and his old lady, “Well shit lass, why didn’t ye wake me?”
“You just seemed so peaceful and I know you haven’t been sleeping well with the stress of the club, so I let you sleep. Also it gave me a chance to actually complete housework and prepare for family dinner.”
Chibs slowly nodded his head in understanding, then looked around the kitchen. Taking in all the different dishes prepared, he noticed half a dozen scotch pies, a grouse, and what looked like over two dozen melting moments. These were all some of his favorite foods from home, something was up. He just knew it.
“Alright lass, what did ye do? You only cook food from home when you’ve done something.”
Anastasia looked at her man with an astonished expression, “Well dang hon, here I am slaving away all day to do something sweet for you and all you have to say is, ‘what did you do?’. I’ll have you know love, I have actually been well behaved recently.”
“I’m sorry love. It’s just last time you cooked like this, ye told me ye had set Hale’s car on fire. Or the time before that how you broke Ima’s nose. Or even that time before I put my crow on ye! That one killed me, because we were talkin’ and you made ALL of my favorites because ye were trying to lighten the fact that you were the one that stole a squad car to distract the cops. You’re lucky Wayne just gave ye a warning.” Chibs paused before continuing. “So that’s why I asked what ye did. I didn’t mean to offend ye lass.” He came up behind her wrapping his arms around his girl peppering kisses on her neck.
Smiling Anastasia gently took her man’s hands in hers and placed them over her lower abdomen.
“Well, tonight we are hosting Sunday dinner but we also have a very special announcement.”
Chibs quickly stopped what he was doing to look Anastasia in the eyes, as soon as he looked in her eyes he knew.
Suddenly he lifted her off the ground spinning her around with excitement, “Mo ghaol! We are going to be parents!” Chibs grabbed his old lady’s face kissing her passionately. “We definitely have a special announcement tonight.”

The way some of y'all talk about Latino men is frankly disgusting and is built completely on fetishizing and devaluing the culture and experience but y'all not ready for that conversation about your brand of white feminism

It is difficult to find the right words. Scrolling through social media my heart breaks. It breaks for the families that lost a loved one to ignorance and hatred. It breaks knowing there are people discriminated simply for the color of their skin. I didn't want to stay silent, honestly felt like I didn't have the right words to say. After reading my black family and friends posts it has taught me a lot and the last thing I ever want to be is silent about injustice. To my black family, to my black friends, and to those I don't know; I am so sorry. Racism is a disgusting disease that has been plaguing the Earth for far to long! "I am not black, but I see you. I am not black, but I hear you. I am not black, but I mourn with you. I am not black, but I will fight for you!" #blacklivesmatter #endthesilence #nomoresilence #justiceforgeorgefloyd #justiceforahmaud #justiceforbreonnataylor #justiceforblackpeople #justiceforblacklives Pictures by @shirien.creates https://www.instagram.com/p/CA3ufLTF86D/?igshid=1fra6yu83ut80

GLASS HEARTS: CHAPTER SIX Nestor Octeva Fanfiction Walking into the kitchen quietly Happy watched as his friend danced and sang along to whatever song was playing through her speakers as she cooked. It always amazed him how talented Ruby was but never did anything with it. Instead she stayed in her hometown for years working as a nanny even though she had a psychology degree and was extremely artistic. She gave it all up for her family
*Lucky for you, I got all these daddy issues
What can I do?
I'm going crazy when I'm with you
Forget all the therapy that I've been through*
Ruby sang along with the song blasting through the speakers as she finished preparing breakfast.
When she turned around to grab a couple plates, Ruby was startled to see Happy standing there. "Gosh, you're such a freaking creep Hap. How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough to know you've got 'daddy issues' little girl." Happy chuckled, before going over to Ruby and wrapping his arms around her, kissing her neck lightly. This simple gesture made Ruby lose her train of thought for a moment. Smelling the bacon seconds from burning though, she quickly moved away from the man holding her to grab the frying pan.
"So I talked to Nestor this morning," Ruby trailed off afraid of Happy's reaction. Though it would never show physically, Happy was actually nervous as to what was going to be said next. Especially after his conversation with the mercenary early that morning.
"They already found the kid? Damn, maybe they are better than us." Happy replied sarcastically, collecting flatware for the two to use for breakfast. Slightly frustrated by the jab her friend made, Ruby smacked his arm before responding.
"There's no need to be an ass Hap. Sadly, no they haven't found him yet but Nestor asked if I was still in town, then asked to meet up. So I was actually wondering if before you left to take care of business, I could get a ride to a coffee shop in town?"
Rolling the toothpick from one side to the other taking his time before responding Happy finally spoke, "Fine but since I don't know how long I will be. So I'll need braids to bring you back here. You're supposed to be leaving to keep you safe that was his wish. If he thinks there is a threat out there that could hurt you then why is he trying to meet with you?"
"Would you prefer he come here instead?" Ruby already knew the answer but asked to push that envelope. Happy wasn't the jealous type so for him to respond like he did shocked her.
Narrowing his eyes at her Happy responded, "No, I just don't understand what is so important that he couldn't have just asked over the phone or text?"
Shrugging at her friend's question the small redhead responded, "Maybe he is worried whoever took Cristobal has tapped into their phones? I mean it is a lot simpler to bug these new smartphones compared to the dinosaurs we had when everyone was still around. Nestor won't let anything happen to me, okay?"
"Yeah, okay Little Girl. Can we eat now? We've still got to get ready for the day." Happy commented, aggravated by the conversation and ready to move on.
Unsettled by her friend's reaction, the redhead nodded before serving their breakfast.
"Hap, I didn't mean to upset you. Once you're done with whatever it is you've got to do today I'll go back to Charming with you. I need you to trust Nestor though, he wants to keep me safe just as much as you. Okay?"
"You actually expect me to trust someone I don't know?" Happy quickly bit back. "You're right, silly me. I'm not hungry anymore so I'm going to get changed. If you could clean up when you're done that would be appreciated." Ruby quickly stood walking to the room, wiping the tears from her eyes as she went to change for the day.

Nestor pulled into the parking lot of the coffee shop on Main Street he and Ruby had agreed upon. Though he never took the time before now to appreciate the building before him, Nestor observed every detail in the rugged old house and it's fading green paint. As the mercenary looked over the building, his mind wandered to how the up and coming conversation with the bubbly redhead would go. Would she be pissed he looked into her? Will she be honest? All these questions were interrupted by the sound of a motorcycle parking a few spaces over. Looking away from the building to where the sound was coming from, Nestor watched as Ruby slid off the bike of the strange man. Watched as before she could walk away the man wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her into a kiss. Quickly Nestor looked back at the building before him, furious at how his friend seemed to be treated by the rough biker.
Pulling away from the kiss Ruby looked back at Nestor then at the man in front of her, "Happy, was that necessary?"
"I have no clue what you're talking about Little Girl. Just remember to let me know when you leave here and you're back at the house. As soon as I'm done we're headed home." Happy smirked knowingly.
Rolling her eyes, Ruby replies, "I'll keep you in the loop okay?" Before she could hear her long time friend's response she walked over to Nestor who was waiting awkwardly and trying to hide his anger.
"Ruby, thank you for meeting me. I realized while waiting, I had never been here before. Do you come here often?" Nestor inquired as he pulled the door of the establishment open.
Giggling, Ruby whispered "Did you really just ask 'Do you come here often?' Well, to answer your question, yes I do come here often. It happens to be my go-to spot when I acquire free time." The two ascended up the staircase, the busyness of the coffee shop surrounded them. As the atmosphere buzzed, the air between Nestor and Ruby though was tense.
Once seated with coffees in hand, Nestor cleared his throat prepared to open Pandora's box. "So, with all that has been happening recently Miguel ordered a thorough background check on everyone." He paused.
Lies.
"Some interesting information was brought to our attention from your background check." Nestor continued.
Ruby's heart rate picked up pace, she was sure the whole coffeehouse could hear it. She never meant for old life to be a secret, Ruby just needed to escape it and the best way was to never talk about it
"Uhm...I." Ruby couldn't find the right words, as though the words were trapped, unable to escape.
"By that reaction you already know what I am referring to? I just want to know how deep that connection still runs. Why did you hide that information from us?" Nestor asked.
"I wanted to forget, I needed to forget. Growing up in a toxic environment such as that.." Ruby took a deep breath before continuing. "My intent wasn't to hide my past from y'all. Honestly I assumed an intense background check had been done when I was first hired." The young red-head took a sip of her coffee and looked everywhere but at the man before her.
"Being born into that life, it's all I've ever known."
*Better late than never?*

GLASS HEARTS CHAPTER FIVE
Nestor had been working like a dog with the other security personnel on the team to bring home the cartel prince. Reviewing surveillance and satellite pictures trying to get a pin on the Los Olvidados location. The silence in the room was broken when Nestor’s phone began to ring abruptly, stepping away from the group he answered. After quickly noticing the caller ID Nestor skipped all formalities and went straight into it, "What did you find?" there was a slight laugh on the other end. "Nice to talk to you too man," his friend responded. "Sorry Jason, things have been insane here so I don't have a ton of time to be on the phone."
"It is all good Nest, I was just giving you a hard time. So Ruby had a pretty basic childhood, prior to graduating highschool she pursued a degree in child psychology with the focus on grief counseling." Nestor rolled his eyes before commenting, "Dude, I know this. Is all your information just a regular background check?" "My good friend not at all, patience. I read one of her college counselor's notes, apparently the reason Ruby originally went into that field was because she had to watch her father get killed. Doesn't go into too much detail on her dad and his murder though. After finishing college, though she started working as a nanny for a Jackson Teller. He was a member of the Sons of Anarchy, there are a couple police reports involving Ruby due to her ties to the SOA. I'm just going to email all of her files over to you." Jason finally finished.  "Thanks man, what do I owe you?" Nestor responded. "Nothing, this one was on the house. Her files do get interesting man, did you say she worked with you?" "She does, Jason I've got to get going but I appreciate you doing that for me." The two said their goodbyes before hanging up and getting on with their days.
Later that evening in the private of his own room Nestor was reviewing the files Jason had sent over. He did not ask for this information simply because he didn't trust her, no. If he hadn't trusted her, Nestor would have never allowed the Galindos to hire her. This woman that he has been working alongside with for over a year, he barely knew; though the mercenary knew he could never learn her heart through digital files he could at least know about who she is and where she came from. Jason had not only sent over Ruby's files but also her parents' which Nestor thought was strange at first until he was halfway through her mother's file. Apparently Margret, Ruby's mother; had lost her hearing after an attack but the file doesn't explain who attacked her. Which were similar to the police reports on her dad doesn't say who shot him. This was strange to Nestor, but as he dug deeper into their files it was all making sense. Her dad was a member of the Sons of Anarchy Charming chapter.
"Shit," Nestor mumbled under his breath. Suddenly standing, he began to pace the room. Nestor knew she was connected to the SOA, but was unaware of how far her connection went. Suddenly without much thought the mercenary picked up his phone dialing Ruby's number paying no attention to the hour in the night. The phone rang, then rang a second time, then a third, after the fourth ring it went into voicemail. Quickly Nestor hung up and tried again. Again it rang once, then twice, by the third ring this time someone picked up.
"Ruby?" Nestor questioned into the phone.
"Try again Braids, it's two o'clock in the fucking morning. Now unless you have found that baby I suggest calling when the sun is up, like normal people." a deep and groggy voice replied.
Letting out a frustrated sigh Nestor replied "No, but I need to speak with her. Now," the mercenary finished sternly.
"If it's not about her work then there's no need to call this late or at all." the man on the other line quickly hung up the phone.
*On the other side of that line*
After hanging up the phone Happy climbed back in bed with Ruby pulling her close.
"Mmm club stuff?" Ruby asked sleepily.
"Yeah, told them they could wait till sunrise. Go back to sleep little girl." Happy responded.
Back at the Galindo compound Nestor threw his phone to the side as he lay on his back, staring at the ceiling. He felt lost in his head, as though his thoughts were the ocean and he no longer knew how to swim. How was Nestor to talk with Ruby and get the full story when she was with that man. He's known her for over a year now and he felt as though he knew nothing. Nestor had always tried to keep his distance for the purpose of keeping everyone safe, so that he could always stay sharp. Yet here he was completely taken off guard, all because he hadn't taken the time to get to know the bubbly redhead. 'She was with another man though, was he also apart of the SOA? Is that how she knew him? How could I have been so stupid!?' All of these questions were swimming through his head. As he lay there mulling over all these questions floating about, sleep had ultimately taken over for the night.

Chapter Four Glasshearts -Nestor x OC
Tumblr media
*Next morning*
Ruby and Happy were entangled in each other’s embrace from a night of getting reacquainted. Though it had been a couple years since last seeing each other the two connected as though no time had passed. The two had known each other for at least ten years roughly, first meeting when Abel Teller had gotten out of the hospital. Ruby and Happy at first became best friends, which made sense to no one around them, didn’t make sense to them most days. What really had thrown people through a loop was when Happy slowly stopped going to crow eaters, and would stay with Ruby on her nights off. Although she never got his crow, Ruby had essentially became Happy’s old lady and everyone knew it. When Jax had died and Wendy took the kids, Ruby decided it was time to move on. Even after leaving though her and Happy still were friends and normally when they would reconnect every so often so this was just like old times.
Slowly opening her eyes Ruby was met with a sleeping Happy, soft snores echoing through the room. Quietly detangling herself she finally got up without waking the sleeping bear and headed for the shower. By the time Ruby had finished Happy was awake and sitting up in bed watching his friend come out in a towel.
“You attract a type little girl.”
“Good morning to you to Mr. Lowman.” Ruby sasses back.
Smirking and shaking his head Happy heads to the bathroom while Ruby got dressed.
When he reentered the room, Ruby was dressed and working on her makeup. “Happy, what did you mean when you said I ‘attract a type?’” looking up from applying her foundation.
“I mean you attract the quiet but deadly men. That guy with the braids, he did not want you leaving with me.” Happy explained.
“Nestor was just doing his job that’s all.” feeling slight butterflies in her stomach even though she knows there’s nothing there.
“Little girl, you can not be that oblivious to the way that man looks at you. I have met him officially once, but when I watched the way you two interacted at the nursing home. That man has it bad for you.”
“Whatever you say Lowman. So are we going back to Charming?” Ruby asked trying to change the subject smoothly to hide her blushing.
“I have some business to take care of down here with the Mayans so we are staying till that is over. Called the guys back home and told them you might be coming back with me this week and they all said they missed you.”
“I’ve missed them too. It’s just hard to go back, all the memories, all the family lost. Y’all became my whole life and I had to watch it get torn apart.”
“What makes this family you’re with now any different? They are a fucking cartel little girl. They are worse than us! What makes them so much better that you’re avoiding coming home!?” Happy demanded, knowing she was with them made her being gone more difficult.
Ruby stood up suddenly with her face almost as red as her hair, she knew Happy and knew his heart behind what was said but it still infuriated her that he had the balls to say such statements to her.
“THEY DON’T LET THEIR SHIT TOUCH FAMILY! This is the first time something like this has happened in the year of working with them!” Ruby raised her voice at the man in front of her before continuing, “I wasn’t even there a year before Abel was taken and someone killed! Yes they are dangerous, I’m not an idiot Happy. It’s just different there.” she whispered the last part.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t keep the chaos from touching you all, I’m sorry you didn’t feel safe enough to stay even after everything with Jax settled. Little girl being here with them though, is it really a better option?” Happy questioned trying to keep a level head after Ruby’s outburst. It was a rare occasion for her to have such outburst and they normally occurred when she had been bottling all her emotions inside.
“It’s not that being with them is better, I miss you all dearly, truly. Just I can’t stay in Charming, too many ghosts.” Ruby explained.
Exhaling through his nose trying to calm himself down, Happy responded with a rasp. “You don’t have to stay but once this business with the Mayans is taken care of you at least need to come home till this cartel bullshit blows over. Promised braids to keep you safe.”
Instead of responding Ruby gave a sigh and just began to pack up her belongings. Even though their reconnections were blissful, they were also stressful due to them always having the same conversation about the cartel family. Though this go around was much different due to the present dangers knocking at the Galindo’s door.

Glass Hearts - Chapter Three Nestor Fanfic
Tumblr media
The drive back was fairly quiet other than the background noise of the radio, Ruby was just watching out the window as the two headed back to reality.
“Thank you Nestor, I know you were following orders but I appreciated the company. It was nice to get to know you a little more. Also thank you for giving my mom and I some time alone together.” breaking the silence the young woman turned her attention to the man driving.
“Even though I was “following orders” as you put it, I wanted to come. To be on the safe side I mean. It was no problem really, and you having time with your mom is important to you so thought I should at least give you that.” Nestor paused for a moment before voicing the question burning in his mind.
“The man you stopped to talk to on the way out, who was he?”
“Oh, that was Happy! I used to live up north and work for his friend as their nanny.” Ruby simply responded not wanting to go in depth about her experiences of working with the Sons of Anarchy.
Simply nodding his head Nestor continued to drive letting his mind wonder a little before hearing Spanish coming from the small red head’s phone.
“I thought you didn’t speak much Spanish? What are you watching?”
Ruby was so focused on what was happening in the video that every sound just fell on deaf ears. It wasn’t until Nestor put a gentle hand on her leg that she was pulled out of the transe.
“It’s them,” she whispered scared to use her voice afraid if she actually heard herself say it she’ll break.
“Ruby who is it? Here let me watch.” the man beside her took the phone watching the video while keeping a hand on Ruby. Nestor could feel her shaking underneath his hand, as he watched the video to the very end he knew who it was.
“We need to get back to the house.” was all Nestor said before pressing harder on the gas.
*Later that night*
After Ruby and Nestor returned, he ran off to talk to Miguel and she went to her room and hadn’t been out since. Around 11:30 that night there was a knock on the door, rolling off her bed Ruby walked over to the door opening it. On the other side stood Nestor, when the door opened he took in the small red heads appearance; an oversized t-shirt, leggings, her hair was a tangled mess and her makeup looked as though she had cried it all off.
“Nestor, it’s late.” Ruby said just looking anywhere but at the man in front of her.
Instead of replying Nestor just engulfed the small woman into a hug surprising them both. “I’m sorry, sorry I just left you alone after that.” The man simply whispered into Ruby’s hair holding her close.
“Cristobal needs to be found so you were doing your job. Any progress?” Ruby knew it would be a shot in the dark when it came to getting a solid answer, she’s been in this world before.
Nestor just gave a look, silently answering her question. “Um so the next couple days are going to be a little hectic and mentioned letting you have the rest of the week off to yourself. Is there family you could go visit?”
Not being a stranger to violence and hearing that sentence a lot when in Charming, Ruby knew chaos was about to reign through town and that her “visiting family” was code for get as far away as you can before you get hurt. “I can call my friend I saw today and go back with him.” pausing for a second the young woman continued as she hugged the man in front of her again.
“Please be careful Nestor.” Ruby would be lying if she said she wasn’t attracted to Nestor but from past experience she knew not to get involved with someone she works with.
Looking down at the small woman in front of him all Nestor wanted to do was kiss her telling her everything would be okay and to not go with the man from earlier, but like always he put duty before heart.
“Who was your friend again?”
“Happy Lowman, I know you’ll background check him but he is part of a motorcycle enthusiast group in Charming and has a bit of history with the law. I trust him as much as I trust you so there's nothing to worry about. Promise.” Ruby explained seeing right through the stone expression the man in front of her wore.
Smirking and nodding his head Nestor simply instructed that she let him know when she leaves and that he will call when everything calms down.
*Thirty Minutes later*
One Happy Lowman was currently standing by his bike with a smirk as he saw all the guns pointed at him because he was a stranger on someone's territory.
"Look guys, y'all are really pissing me off. I am just here to pick up my friend, that called me. Go check with her, Ruby Parker." although he has a smirk, his patients were starting to wear thin.
As one of the men left to go get Ruby, Nestor stepped out to see what the problem was. Seeing the man from earlier, his jaw tightened. "Lower your weapons. He's just here for Ruby." Nestor paused before walking over to Happy. "Don't believe I had the pleasure of meeting you earlier, Nestor." The man with braids explained before reaching his hand out to shake the man's hand.
Happy just looked at his hand for a second and back at the man in front of him, playing with the toothpick in his mouth. Ignoring Nestor's hand Happy simply replied with his name before looking past him at the woman he was there for.
"Happy! Nestor! Looks like y'all met!" As Ruby walked over she gave Happy a quick hug before turning to Nestor, "Please be careful and bring him home."
Like always Nestor just simply nodded before watching the woman he had fallen for leave with another man.

Glass Hearts Pt. 2 Nestor × OC
It’s been three days, three days since Cristobal was taken and Emily has completely turned around choosing to be fully involved in finding her son. Ruby has been helping as much as possible as well, just by cleaning, organizing, helping with meals. She has been giving all of herself to those around, trying to help, but also breaking on the inside. Putting on a mask every morning, yet crumbling when in the security of her room. No one knew it though.
Quietly Ruby entered Emily Galindo’s office giving a slight knock.
“Excuse me, Emily if you don’t mind I would like the rest of the day off? I have some personal errands that need to be taken care of, also thought I’d visit my mom.”
“Of course, you have been doing so much for us here please take the day. Thank you for everything.” Emily responded giving her worker but more importantly her friend a hug.
As Ruby was leaving the house to her car Miguel and his head security Nestor stopped her.
“Ruby, where are you heading?” Miguel asked noticing Emily wasn't with her but neither was any security.
“I um talked to Emily about taking a personal day to run some errands as well as going to see my mom. She said it was okay.” The young woman said keeping her head high.
“It is, just with recent events I want someone to go with you.” pausing for a moment before continuing, “Nestor, how about you go with her. We will be fine at the house with the other security personnel.”
Sighing Ruby agreed knowing she wouldn't win the battle on wanting to go alone and not needing “protection”.
Nodding his head Nestor looked at the young woman. “Where to first? I'll drive.”
“You don't have to drive, I'm very capable of doing it myself.”
Smirking Nestor just nodded his head before responding, “Yes, but a lady should never have to drive themselves if they don't have to.”
Sighing know it was no use in fighting Ruby replied, “Fine. To the bookstore I guess.” Tossing the man her keys and getting in the passenger seat.
After at least an hour in the bookstore Ruby and Nestor left with five books each, the kind of books neither would want to be caught with. The cheesy romantic books that could never happen except in their own fictional world. Yet here they were loading them into the redhead’s car. “So next stop is the pharmacy, I need to pick up a few things and would prefer to go in alone if you don’t mind?”
Simply agreeing Nestor sets out for their next location. After parking Ruby quickly hurried out but not before telling her “shofer” for the day she’d be right back. As soon as she left Ruby was right back.
“Okay, so this is the address for my mom’s place. I’ll need some help bringing the books in and it might be awhile so you’re welcome to come inside.” Ruby explained quietly before continuing. “Um, also just so you’re not taken by surprise my mom is deaf. So if she says or asks anything I’ll translate and vise versa, if you do talk to her please make sure she can see your face and speak clearly. Please don’t yell, the louder you’re does not change that fact that she can not hear you, it’s also a sure fire way to get me pissed.”
Laughing slightly at the last half of what Ruby had said, then replying. “The books make sense now, truthfully didn’t see you as the type of woman to like cheesy romantics.”
Raising an eyebrow at the man beside her, “What type of book do you think I would read then?”
“Well, during Cristobal's nap time I have spotted you with an educational book, or spiritual book from time to time. Which are both far from what we picked up today.”
“You’re not wrong, I hate those cheesy books. They don’t show the reality that is before us. So since you know what I enjoy reading do you have a genre you enjoy reading or do you not read?” Ruby probed thankful Nestor chose to speak of books instead of her mother.
“I do enjoy reading, just this job doesn’t really allow much time to read so normally I am left to read before bed. Which normally would be a military and war book, or something on history.”
“Do you have a favorite time in history you enjoy reading about? History just drags on and puts me to sleep so normally the “educational” books you see me with are on child psychology.”
Looking at the woman next to him in surprise Nestor replied, “Child psychology? Any reason for that? It’s oddly specific. History wise I enjoy the Greeks and Spanish, the way the Greeks held a government even with “emperors”, and it’s good to know about where one’s family is from. Hence the Spanish history.”
“The big scary Nestor Octevea is actually a history nerd, who knew!” Ruby replied letting out a quiet laugh.
“Says the softy reading psychology nerd, anyways I believe we are here?”
Looking out the window seeing the nursing home her mom lived at, Ruby nodded her head before getting out of the car. As she got out Nestor followed suit before grabbing all the books they had gotten earlier.
“Oh, you don’t have to carry all of those. Let me take some of them.” the small redhead commented going to grab some of the books. Quietly the man stepped to the side shaking his head indicating that he has it covered.
Simply letting a sigh escape and nodding her head Ruby led the way to the lobby of the nursing home. After signing them in she started to maneuver down the hall smiling and greeting the nurses and other residents before reaching her destination.
Taking a deep breath Ruby walked in and said hello to her mom’s translator before turning her full attention to her mom.
“Hi momma, I hope you don’t mind but a friend from work is with me. His name is Nestor. “ Ruby spoke to her mother while signing. Looking over her shoulder, Ruby motioned for Nestor to come over so he could properly meet her mom and vise versa.
“Ruby, I am going to step out. Let you two have some time alone together.” Nestor said after the introductions, before leaving though he went over to Ruby’s mom squating so he was eyes level with her. “It was a pleasure meeting you.”  Afterwards he walked out, and just wondered.
The two Parker women were left alone that moment, and the older of the two wasted no time waiting for Nestor to leave before asking questions on if her daughter was seeing anyone and about the strange man that came with her. Without giving too much detail as to what the Galindos actually do or that Cristobal was taken, Ruby simply explained that the family had received a few harsh threats and they just wanted to keep everyone safe. Once that was out of the way the two talked about how they have been, the older Parker keeping her in the loop on the latest nursing home drama, and Ruby just enjoying the time with her mom.
Meanwhile Nestor was sitting outside on the phone with one of his security intell getting updates on what is going on at the Galindo home. After that phone call though he made a personal phone call to a friend who can find just about everything on someone.
“Hey man, I need you to look into someone for me. Her name is Ruby Parker, she works with me and we did the stereotypical background check but I want to know everything about her. What she spends money on, who she talks to, anything you can find on her childhood and her parents.”
“Sure man, any particular reason for the search? Or should I just not ask?”
“Best not to ask.”
“Well man I will get on this and get back to you hopefully by tonight or tomorrow.” Nestor’s old military buddy replied before the two said their goodbyes.
Right when Nestor stood up to go back inside but he saw Ruby coming out the front stopping and talking to a man about to walk in. Quietly the mercenary just watched the interaction, how the two hugged and spoke with one another how Ruby all of a sudden had a smile that could light the street. The stranger seemed more interested with keeping his hands on the woman in front of him though than what she was saying. Trying to keep a leveled head Nestor simply had to turn away, he couldn’t watch another man have his hands on the beautiful redhead he couldn’t have.
As Ruby walked out of the nursing home she noticed an old friend about to walk in. “Happy!”
Stopping in his tracks Happy took in the woman that called his name before engulfing her in a hug.
“Little girl what are you doing here? Is your mom here?”
Placing her hands over Happy’s which are resting on her hips before replying.
“Me? You’re a little far from Charming hon, my mom is here. I’m guessing your mom is here too? Why would you move her all the way out here?” Ruby watched as the man in front of her just watched her intently his pupils slightly blown.
“Had to move mom to a better and cheaper place, figured out here would be good. I’ll make sure I stop by your mom’s room and see her, she still have that interpreter?” Ruby just simply nodded before snaking her arms around her old friend’s neck whispering against his skin, “I miss you bubba, please stop being a stranger.”
Smiling at the woman in front of her, Happy agreed before kissing the redhead’s forehead.

“I’ve got to get going, my friend is waiting for me. Don’t be a stranger!” Ruby said as she walked away to Nestor.
*let me know what y'all think! Happy reading 😘*
