Pro: Letting people approach me and ask to take pictures of me with them, which I happily oblige.

Con: Social anxiety kicking in, preventing me from approaching cosplayers and asking to take pictures of them with me.

Cosplaying Valentino is my way of healing

"How?", you might ask. Well, believe it or not, he has helped me heal from being bodyshamed by my highschool classmate.

It's because of an ASMR video of Val comforting the listener after opening up about body insecurity that he became my comfort character and, eventually, my fictional crush.

He also helped me heal from religious trauma, toxic family dynamics, living in a repressive environment, and being sheltered from things that shouldn't be taboo.

He even helped me get through each day while I'm experiencing physical pain and several symptoms due to my impacted wisdom tooth (already removed) and other health-related issues.

His great taste in fashion inspired me to express myself and have the courage to wear high heels wherever I go outside of my home.

Valentino is my dangerous but sexy fictional boyfriend who lifts me up whenever people like my classmate try to bring me down.

I had a great time at a cosplay convention last month

It was a 2-day convention called Cosplay Carnival 2025 which took place in SMX Convention. I cosplayed Valentino from Hazbin Hotel on both days.

The first day felt kind of lonely because I was the only Hazbin cosplayer there. The second day turned out better than I expected because there were several people who asked to take pictures of me with them which I happily obliged. There were even a group of students who interviewed me, asking me about my experiences of cosplaying.

I'm so glad that I didn't experience any sort of harassment for cosplaying a hot but despicable villain. My feet hurt a lot from wearing those high heels but it was worth it as a first-time cosplayer.

I have experienced enbyphobia and acephobia

Last year, my older sister made remarks that invalidated my gender identity and sexual orientation.

When I told her my plan to hang out with my church friend that didn't push through, she said something that was outdated which I didn't appreciate.

I don't exactly remember what she said, but I responded to her by saying I'm non-binary, I don't like it when people force gender expectations on my face, I don't like being called "gentleman" because that doesn't define me as a person. Besides, my church friend is married to her wife.

Also, while we were picking which jewelries to keep after retrieving them from mom's safety box, she said something like "my spouse" will find those jewelries beautiful. I was like "why on earth did you say that?". I'm asexual. I'm not attracted to anyone. I'm not going to get married anytime soon.

She said she thinks far ahead. She remembers saying if I get a spouse so it means indefinite. Because no one knows what will happen in the future, a lot can happen. She was just being rational.

She said to me if I'm sure that I'm asexual and I don't intend to get married, she asked what I'm going to do with the jewelries.

I told her that her asking me if I'm sure that I'm asexual is a form of gaslighting and that I know myself more than she could ever know me.

She went off on a defensive rant towards me that I'm not even going to bother explaining. I left the sibling group chat to protect my peace.

If there's something I would've said to her, it would be this: "Keep your rationality to yourself. I will not tolerate your prejudiced remarks towards me. Good luck, acephobic prick!"

I blocked her for the time being because I can't deal with her dismissive remarks. I'm so sick and tired of people telling me that I should get married. Reality check: not everyone wants to get married. Deal with it!
