A compilation of stuff I know about drawing Asian faces and Asian culture! I feel like many “How-To-Draw” tutorials often default to European faces and are not really helpful when drawing people of other races. So I thought I’d put this together in case anyone is interested! Feel free to share this guide and shoot me questions if you have any! I’m by no means an expert, I just know a few things from drawing experience and from my own cultural background.

Can the works of an author all be my favorite? Yes they can. They do.

I usually don’t draw for a fic immediately after finishing reading, I let it sit for a while, come back to it, reread it a few times and then I start drawing. This one was an exeption, I started drawing immediately —alright I first stared at nothingness for a solid minute but you’ve got the point— and it was so interesting trying to convert into images the words written by the author but hopefully I went somewhere close to them.

Anyhow read The illusion of choice, it’s so… so. (I’m bad with words but the author is a master of them and you’ll see what I mean once you’ve read it!)

Sometimes I can't stop thinking about how Jing Yuan considers the loss of the HCQ as something that has stopped or slowed time for him (the losses "still rippled like a memory from yesterday" despite being from hundreds of years ago. He's been alive longer without them than he has with.)

But the way shorter amount of years he's had and raised Yanqing "felt like a lifetime" (time is moving for him again, he is living through life again, those years that aren't even at two decades yet feel like a whole life.)

Always thinking about these two's dynamic as master and student, general and lieutenant, father and son.

Thinking about the grief that's carved into Jing Yuan's being and stopped his time, but how caring for Yanqing has made his time start again.

Jing Yuan's wish?

"For Yanqing to grow up safe and sound."
