i’m so intrigued by the idea of nickistat during the french revolution and the way they may tackle it in the show

hozier was so insane for writing francesca. he announces the song and you’re like okay maybe he’s in love with someone named francesca and then really it’s about a pair of lovers from dante’s inferno, who fell deeply for each other outside of marriage and consequently were sent to hell for their “uncontrollable lust”. telling each other “put me back in it”, i would do it all again, i would condemn myself to hell to be with you both in life and after. god could give me the option over and over again and i would not change a single thing. our love has never been wrong, heaven is too small to fit a love like ours. why would he write that

this shot of jacob anderson as louis is so enchanting. him in this scene reminded me of leyendecker's advertisements (particularly, his arrow collar men) so i went through his work & i think i found the pieces i was associating him with!

i also want to bring attention to @haflacky's phenomenal work! specifically, these portraits [1] [2] [3] in leyendecker's style, which may have influenced this association. please show them some love! at the time of posting, they also have open commission slots. :-)

the first one may be referred to as Gentleman and Seated Lady, as versions of it exist without the "Arrow" brand-name beneath. it also may simply be referred to as [an] Arrow Collar Advertisement (1929). i believe the second one is definitively referred to as Couple Descending Staircase (1932). the second work was horizontally flipped for the man to look to his right, like louis. i also apologize for the low quality of these images; i considered using higher version giclées of the artwork available online for purchase but decided against it. other frames of louis for the second comparison were also considered, but seeing his irises was very important to me and i felt the fondness of his expression mattered more than perfectly matching the model's angle.
