Infinity Gems (Final Part):

“Hello, father.”

“I’ve come to reclaim my rightful property.” Thanos declared.

“Just you and the Sorcerer Supreme? You disappoint me, Thanos.” Nabula declared. Strange stared at Nebula in slight confusion. Before they arrived, she said two would come through the portal, and even then, she only had addressed the presence of himself and Thanos. “I thought you’d make your last stand armed with more than empty bravado.”

“Even though you usurped what is rightfully mine, it shall do you little good.” Thanos declared, as Lapis casually stepped forwards, walking around Nabula and positioning herself behind her. Nebula did not react, still staring directly at Thanos. “Return the Infinity Gauntlet to me, and it shall all be forgiven.”

Strange finally understood. Lapis Lazuli had spent months in contact with the Soul Gem, this had displaced her to outside the realm of chaos and order. Nabula was completely unaware of Lapis Lazuli’s presence. Nebula closed her fist, and a large stone hand came out of the ground, closing themselves around Thanos’ body.

“I take this as meaning my kind offering has been rejected?” Thanos asked, before screaming in pain as the stone hands began crushing him.

“Your keen intellect amazes me.” Nabula declared. Thanos stared at her for a few moments, before a smile formed on his face. “I see no good reason for you to be smiling, old man.”

“Which clearly illustrates the pathetic limits of your intellect.” Thanos declared, before he began laughing, and Nebula’s expression changed into one of pure anger. “You haven’t the vision necessary to exploit the Infinity Gems! I killed half of the universe! A grandeur beyond your comprehension! What have you accomplished?”

“Grandeur? I’ll show you grandeur!” Nebula declared as she furiously raised her fist, the Infinity Gems glowing brightly. “May the dead rise again! May everyone who was killed by Thanos in the last twenty-four hours return to life!”

“No!” Thanos screamed.

“Hm…” Thunderbolt Ross shook his head as he opened his eyes. He was once again at his desk signing papers, just as he was the day before. He looked around for a few moments, before the door flung open and a young soldier ran inside.

“General Ross! You have returned!”

“Seems like it…” Ross commented. “Have you located the Hulk?”

“No, sir.”

“So go search for him!” Ross ordered, before he went back to signing the papers.

“What the…” A worker declared from the top of a building under construction, surprised by suddenly being brought back to life. The worker tripped and fell off the building. He screamed as he fell, before he felt a strong pair of long rubber-like arms caught him, gently lowering him and placing him on the ground. The worker looked up, to see the face of his savior.

“Don’t distress yourself, son.” Mister Fantastic declared. “I got you.”

“You saved me!” The worker declared, before he looked up to see several girders falling. He screamed, before they were quickly caught by an invisible forcefield.

“Johnny! Go up there and do your thing!” Invisible Woman declared.

“On it!” The Human Torch answered, before he quickly flew to the top of the building and fired a blast of heat onto the weak spot of the building, welding it to prevent anything else from falling. “No lives lost, and no damage done!”

“Except for my ego. All I did was stand here and watch.” The Thing declared, before he looked to the rest of the Fantastic Four. “Now, how about we find out why we just blinked past twenty-four hours of our lives?”

“What… happened…” Connie whispered as she opened her eyes. She felt as if she had just woken up from a dream, but she didn’t remember having any dreams. Had she fallen asleep by accident? Connie turned to her digital watch, before her eyes widened as she realized what time it was. “I’m super behind on my studies!”

“What? Who?” Monica Rambeau asked as she looked around. She was floating above the surface of the Earth, and she was there because NASA asked her to fix a broken satellite, just as before. Everything seemed to be identical, but she felt as if she had fainted for some reason. She shook her head, before she turned to the satellite. She was Captain Marvel, and she had a job to do. She could worry about the rest later.

“Ugh! I’ve got a splitting headache! Did we hit an asteroid or something?” Lars complained as he put his hand on his pink hair, before he got up from his chair in the center of the Sun Incinerator. “Alright, head count! Who is not dead?”

“I’m alive, unfortunately.” Rocket Raccoon answered.

“I think my head is on backwards.” Emerald commented.

“You will need more than that to keep me down.” Gamora declared.

“I am Groot.”

“Where are Drax and Nova?” Lars asked.

“This feeling… I recognize it…” Gamora added. “This cruelty and terror… It must have been my father!”

“Thanos? That explains where Drax went.” Lars commented. “Nova is gone too. We should probably go after them. How far away are we from the Nova Corps Headquarters?”

“Just a few systems.” Emerald commented. “They have one of the most advanced tracking systems in the galaxy. It should be able to locate the others.”

“Very well.” Lars declared, before Emerald nodded and reached for the ship’s controls. “After all, we always protect our own. We are the Guardians of the Galaxy!”

The Sun Incinerator’s thrusters quickly charged, before the ship flew through outer space at lightspeed.

“All hail the omnipotent Nebula!” She declared as she held the Infinity Gauntlet up.

“You’ve made a huge mistake, daughter.” Thanos declared. Nebular laughed, before she felt a pair of hands reaching for her Infinity Gauntlet.

“Soul Gem! I reach out to you!” Lapis declared as she reached for the yellow stone.

“Where did you come from?” Nebula asked in surprise.

“From nowhere and everywhere! Within the Soul Gem!” Lapis declared. “From the one! I reach out to five!”

“What are you doing?” Nebula asked in shock, as she felt the Infinity Gauntlet heating up with energy. The Infinity Stones were trying to cast Nebula out, even if it meant burning off her hand. “Don’t listen to her! I’m the one wearing the Gauntlet! You don’t take orders from her! You obey me!”

There was a massive flash, and Nebula fell to her knees while holding her hand in pain, as the Infinity Gauntlet flew out, landing on the ground before her.

“The Gauntlet!” Thanos declared as he ran towards it.

“Undo time stop!” Doctor Strange yelled as he casted a spell, and all of the heroes suddenly came to life, before they dashed towards Thanos.

“Stay thy hand, Titan!” Drax the Destroyer declared as he punched Thanos on the face, quickly being followed by Thor and the Hulk. A purple whip caught the Infinity Gauntlet, before pulling it into Amethyst’s hands, who quickly placed it inside a bubble.

“No!” Nebula yelled as she blew her way pass several of the X-Men, before striking Amethyst, who was about to teleport the Gauntlet away. The Gauntlet fell out of Amethyst’s hands and rolled through the ground. “The Gauntlet is mine!”

Nebula’s feet were caught by webs and pulled by Spider-Man, who tripped her to the ground, before several Holo-Pearls ran in and struck Nebula with their weapons. Thanos leaped and tried to reach for the Gauntlet, only for Garnet to block his way and clash against him, before Nova flew by and took the Gauntlet. Thanos punched Garnet to the ground and leaped towards Nova, who tossed the Gauntlet at the last second, before it was caught by Iron Man, who quickly tossed it to Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler began teleporting around the battlefield with the Gauntlet in his hands. Nebula yelled and blew away the Holo-Pearls, before she dashed at incredible speeds and struck Nightcrawler, making him drop the Gauntlet.

Nebula reached for the Gauntlet, but another pair of blue hands reached it first, followed by a large explosion of colors, which blew Nebula away.

“Let this conflict end!” Ordered Lapis Lazuli, who now worn the Infinity Gauntlet in her left hand. Lapis Lazuli waved her hand and destroyed the light cage that limited the Cosmic Beings above them, before quickly teleporting the Cosmic Beings away, except for Mephisto and Spinel, who landed right in the middle of the battlefield.

“Looks like there is a new supreme being in the neighborhood, hm?” Spinel commented as she got back up.

“The Gauntlet is mine!” Thanos declared.

“You’d lose it again.” Lapis commented.

“What right do you have to wield it?” Nebula demanded.

“The Soul Gem chose me. The power is mine.” Lapis decided. “I am the only one who will do the right thing with it.”

“What would that be?” Garnet demanded.

“Never use it.” Lapis declared, before she turned to Captain America, who nodded silently. “After I am done undoing all of the damage Thanos caused, I will put away this Gauntlet. It must never be used, ever again.”

There was a moment of silence, before Drax dashed towards Thanos.

“The Titan is mine!” Drax declared.

“I’ll help you!” Hulk declared as he too dashed towards Thanos.

“Unhand me, you dull-witted brutes!” Thanos yelled as he struck them both away, before he reached for his belt and pressed a small button. The heroes heard what seemed to be the sound of a clock ticking down. “The thermal nuclear device on my belt will detonate in 15 seconds!”

“Why?” Nebula demanded.

“I prefer death over imprisonment.” Thanos declared. “Pride is my one fatal flaw.”

“Die then!” Thor declared, before he struck Thanos with Mjolnir, sending the Titan flying away into outer space, before Thanos’ body was consumed by a massive explosion.

“Quite a bombastic death.” Spinel commented.

“Exactly what I would have expected of Thanos.” Mephisto declared.

Nebula turned around and began walking away, only to be knocked to the ground. She looked up, to see Nova was the one holding her down.

“As a representative of the Nova Corps, you are under arrest!” Nova declared, before he forced Nebula back up and held her in a headlock. “Do not try to resist, or I will be forced to use brute force!”

Nova nodded to the others, before he quickly flew away with Nebula, disappearing into outer space.

“Well, it seems like that’s that.” Garnet declared.

“Would you like me to teleport you all back to Earth?” Lapis asked, before both Captain America and Cyclops nodded, and she prepared the Infinity Gauntlet. “Very well. Avengers will go back to Avengers Tower. X-Men will be returned to Xavier's School. Wolverine and Spider-Man return to New York city. Namor to his underwater kingdom. Drax to the other Guardians of the Galaxy. Vision and Scarlet Witch back to their home. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl go back to Beach City. Spinel goes back to Homeworld and Mephisto can go to hell for all I care.”

Lapis snapped her fingers, and the others were suddenly teleported away, leaving behind only Doctor Strange.

“I remain?” Doctor Strange asked.

“You’re the one who knows me best.” Lapis commented.

“Before you became power incarnate, that is.” Strange commented, as the two stared at the stars above them. “Now the distance between us is insurmountable. Like an ant being compared to the cosmos.”

“I knew you would say that… yet I still hoped…” Lapis whispered. “I guess there is nothing left to say. Go back home, Doctor Strange.”

Lapis snapped her fingers, and Strange was teleported back to his home. Lapis sat down and continued to look at the sky. She looked down at the Infinity Gauntlet she now worn around her hand, before creating her wings and flying out into the cosmos. Lapis was once again as she had always been: alone.

The sun shined bright at the top of a large planet, as a scarecrow stood, wearing a recognizable armor. Thanos carefully watered the vegetation, before he made his way towards his small house. Of course, he was not dead, you’d need an explosion way bigger than that to actually harm him, but that light show should be enough to get the heroes out of his back. Thanos sat down and looked at his garden, as a smile formed on his face. In the long run, Thanos of titan had come out ahead in this particular deal.

Infinity Gems (Part 5):

“Thanos of Titan! We call upon you to surrender the Infinity Gems!” Master Order ordered.

“Honor this request, or face power beyond your wildest dreams!” Lord Chaos warned.

“I believe you will discover the horizons of my imaginings far wider than you would suspect, Lord Chaos!” Thanos responded as he held up the Infinity Gauntlet. “That what you challenge is beyond even your mystic understanding! Begone, foolish godlings, or suffer my celestial wrath!”

“The outcome of this battle is uncertain.” Mephisto declared. “However, I doubt either of us will last more than a few microseconds into the conflict.”

“We’re gonna die pretty quickly.” Spinel commented.

“Yeah, that’s what I sai–”

“Still, knowing Thanos, he’ll probably just bring us back after it is all done, and force us to keep on praising him.” Spinel commented. “Regardless… may the end begin.”

Thanos leaped towards his enemies, who were quick to charge towards the Titan. Spinel and Mephisto couldn’t see a thing, an engagement of this magnitude was simply a massive flash of light from their perspective. The initial clash surpassed anything words could describe, as it all collapsed along the entire spectrum of reality. Were they witnessing the end of the universe? Planets, solar systems, entire galaxy clusters, all reduced to ash in a moment. Spinel and Mephisto slowly opened their eyes, surprised to see both of them, alongside Nebula, were completely unharmed. Standing before them was their savior, who had created a forcefield around them.

“Mistress Death!” The two declared in unison, before they looked up to see Thanos, the Infinity Gauntlet still in his hands, as he defended his divinity. The Titan looked up, to see a Celestial hovering above him.

“I have existed since the mysterious emptiness before creation, and I will be here once creation disappears back into Oblivion.” One Above All declared. “To me you are but an insect crawling in the mud.”

With a wave of One Above All’s hand a seemingly endless chain of planets came flying from the other side of the universe. The fact that some of those worlds inhabited sentient life was not considered, as the Celestial fired the planets at Thanos at the speed of thought, but it did no good, as the Mad Titan simply snapped his fingers, and all of the countless planets exploded into massive planet sized fireballs.

“Your time as God has ended, Thanos.” Eternity declared, as Thanos felt his own body being swallowed by time, and being stretched into the past, present, and future simultaneously. Eternity was trying to bury Thanos deep into the layers of a dying and forgotten timeline. It was a futile hope, as one of the Infinity Gems granted Thanos mastery of what tried to overwhelm him, and with a mere thought the Mad Titan opened his way through the endless seas of time and walked out of his time prison.

“I am everything for I am nothing.” Master Order declared as he approached the Mad Titan.

“All these things do I know and affect but never do they touch me.” Lord Chaos declared as he joined his brother.

Thanos felt his body being struck by duality, as half of his body was forced into absolute order, discipline, law, and structure, while the other half was forced into absolute chaos, disorder, randomness, and formlessness. They hoped to dichotomize the Titan, but Thanos refused to surrender his individuality, quickly breaking out of the forced duality.

The battle continued to rage without pause, as forces combined to add more than the sum of their parts. The temporal was abandoned for pure force and energy, as Thanos was engulfed by the combined force of Galactus, Odin, and the Beyonder, managing to make the Mad Titan lose his balance. It was but a minor setback for Thanos, one which he overcame with a mere wish.

“By heavens… what am I doing?” Thanos asked.

“I am giving those wretches exactly what they deserved!” Thanos responded.

“But they are my heavenly brothers…” Thanos whispered in sadness.

“And I will kill them all!” Thanos declared in rage.

“N-no… I should honor and cherish them…” Thanos whispered.

“What madness is this?” Thanos asked furiously, before he looked up to see the one responsible for his duality.

“That was a pretty light show you provided us, Mad titan, but it is pointless. After all I'm every color of the light.” White Diamond declared as she floated over Thanos. “Once I am done with you, you will be brilliant, you will be perfect, you will be me.”

“You dare to try invading my mind?” Thanos declared furiously, before he quickly blasted White Diamond. “Be away, bothersome manipulator!”

Thanos charged another blast, when he suddenly felt a strange heat, and looked around to see himself surrounded by hellfire. Thanos prepared to quickly dispel it, when his mind was suddenly flooded by strange memories of himself as a baby in Titan, and felt as if he was back to the moment he had been born. Thanos screamed in anger, as he turned to see who had attacked him.

“Mephisto! Spinel!” Thanos declared in fury, as Mephisto tried to pull the Infinity Gauntlet away from Thanos’ hand, while Spinel struck his arm with the rejuvenator in an attempt to slice Thanos’ hand off. “You dare to betray me?”

“We’ve come to relieve you of the burden of supremacy!” Mephisto declared in a sarcastic tone.

“You might think you are invincible, Thanos!” Spinel declared. “But you still have a body! Anything that has a body can be hurt!”

“You reverted to type prematurely, traitors!” Thanos asked angrily, and he pushed both of them away from his arm, before grabbing them both by the neck. “This is an error you will pay for dearly!”

A massive wave of energy suddenly struck Thanos, tossing him to the ground as Mephisto and Spinel ran off. Thanos got back up and looked around in fury, and his eyes widened as he saw who had been the one to attack him.

“Mistress Death…” Thanos declared, his voice showing a mixture of rage and sadness, as Death prepared to strike him once again. “I offered you the universe… and you betrayed me…”

All of the entities came together and attacked in a large blast. Thanos screamed in terror, as he was struck by the combined power of Spinel, Mephisto, One Above All, Lord Chaos, Master Order, Odin, Eternity, Galactus, White Diamond, Beyonder, and Mistress Death, and a massive blast of light engulfed the Titan’s body. Suddenly the light began spinning like a hurricane, and all of the cosmic beings found themselves paralyzed, stuck inside a large cage of light and at Thanos’ mercy.

“Divinity calls for clear thinking, unburdened with chaotic emotion. Let me be rid of all illusions…” The imprisioned divinities heard, before they looked up and saw Thanos standing above them, having taken Eternity’s place. Thanos no longer needed a body, having gotten rid of the flesh that limited his omnipotence. Thanos was everywhere and everywhen, everyone and everything, for he had become one with the universe. “For I am Thanos! I alone am supreme!”

“You’ve made… a grave mistake…” Thanos heard, as his cosmic eyes widened, and he looked back at the body he had just abandoned. The left hand of that body no longer wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos felt his senses shatter, as his consciousness flooded back into his physical body in an instant. “In abandoning your corporeal form… you left the Gauntlet up for the taken!”

Thanos turned in terror, as he saw the face of the new wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, realizing the reversal of the dire fortunes.

“I, Nebula, step away from the edge of oblivion!” Nebula declared, as she used the gauntlet in her hands to heal her body, reverting to what she was before the torture she suffered in the hands of Thanos. “The mantle of providence rests now on new shoulders! Every wish is but an urge away! You more than anyone know what I yearn for, father! Revenge!”

Before Thanos could react, the Infinity Gems glowed on Nebula’s glove, and the Mad Titan disappeared without a trace.

“We are back?” Lapis asked, as they all sat around a large table in the middle of Avengers Tower.

“The reins of power have changed hands. I can sense it.” Doctor Strange declared as he held onto his Eye of Agamotto. “Nebula wields the Infinity Gauntlet. She must have subconsciously revived us using its power.”

“That is good, isn’t it?” Steven asked. “Thanos is defeated.”

“The situation has gone from bad to worse.” Nova declared. “I’ve delt with Nebula before. She is deranged from a life of pain and anguish. She must be using the Infinity Gems to torture Thanos right now.”

“That is very humane… something a human would want…” Cyclops declared. “The power of the Infinity Gauntlet belongs to no man. The Infinity Gauntlet must be destroyed.”

“Cyclops is right.” Captain America declared. “No matter how enlightened or benevolent, freedom to do only what a single person allows is not freedom.”

“The very first thing Nebula did with her power was punish Thanos. Who else might she want to punish in the future?”  Garnet declared. “We must stop her before it is too late. Everyone should be free to make their own mind and have their own thoughts, no matter how corrupt those thoughts are.”

“Very well.” Pearl declared as she got up from the table. “Nebula must be stopped.”

“Aye, Pearl.” Thor declared as he too got up.

“Let’s go for it!” Drax declared.

“I’m with you, Drax.” Nova added.

“Teaming up with a bunch of heroes to fight a space blue lady?” Amethyst commented. “That brings back memories.”

“Oh, shut up!” Lapis added.

“Show me the heads, man.” Tony Stark declared. “Iron Man will crack them.”

“It is an honor to fight with you all.” Steven declared.

“I’m in.” Spider-Man commented. “I’m not about to argue against Captain America, Cyclops, and Garnet.”

“Nobody knows better than me how dangerous too much power can be.” Bruce Banner commented. “I will help you, and I believe the Hulk will agree.”

“The temptation of power is insidious.” Storm declared. “If someone looks down upon us and tells us that they know what is best, that’s when we should fight the hardest.”

“Couldn’t have said it better myself.” Wolverine commented.

“I agree.” Nightcrawler declared. “Nobody can be trusted with such power.”

“Resisting is our only choice.” Namor declared.

“I would be lying if I said that I am not scared…” Colossus added. “But I have never let that stop me before. I say we fight.”

“Very well.” Captain America declared. “We’ll fight!”

Thanos floated through spaces unknown. He was trapped in a vacuum, a pocket dimension outside of the universe, where there was nothing but him. How long had he been there? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Decades? Centuries? Millenia? Thanos could not tell. He felt trapped, trapped and alone.

Nebula would not let him die, nor would she ever let him escape. His body would endure long after his spirit succumbs to the endless exile his daughter had banished him to. An eternity of nothingness, his personal infinity to null on his sins and follies.

It was then Thanos saw it. A light, which quickly took the shape of a portal, before sucking him in.

“Welcome to mother Earth, Titan.” Lapis Lazuli greeted as Thanos fell onto the ground of the meeting room in Avengers Tower, before Doctor Strange closed the portal. Thanos looked up, to see all of the heroes he had previously killed standing around him.

“Why have you brought me here?” Thanos asked as he began getting back to his feet, onto to be struck on the face by a water fist from Lapis Lazuli, once again dropping to the ground.

“Not so strong without the Gauntlet, hm?” Amethyst commented.

“He’s probably been weakened due to Nebula’s punishment.” Lapis declared in anger as she crossed her arms. “Even without the Infinity Gems, he’d normally be stronger than most of us.”

“Now if you all are quite through, you might be interested in discussing how we might yet save the universe from total annihilation.” Strange commented.

“Which is exactly where it is headed with Nebula in control of the Gauntlet!” Thanos declared as he got up and took a few steps towards Lapis, only for Hulk and Thor to block his way. Thanos stared at the two in anger, before taking a few steps back. “My daughter’s intellect is not worthy of godhood! Sudden omnipotence would corrupt even the finest mind!”

“First we need to come up with a plan of attack.” Garnet commented. “This will be risky, but Nebula does not still comprehend the full scale of the power she holds. We might have a chance if we act quickly.”

“There is only one way we can win.” Lapis Lazuli declared. “But first, I’ll need to have a word alone with Thanos.”

“So that you can scheme up some new deviltry against us?” They heard, before they turned to see Doctor Doom walking in through the door, pointing at Lapis. “I tell you this Gem is Thanos’ secret partner!”

“Well, look who it is. Mister ‘Give me the Infinity Gauntlet’ himself!” Lapis declared in annoyance. “Someone get him out of my face before I rip his head off!”

“You heard her, Doom.” Thor declared, as he put his hand on Doom’s shoulder. Thor stared at Doom with an angry expression, before signing towards the door with his head.

“You fool!” Doom declared, before he turned around and walked away from the room. “You will regret not hearing the word of Doom!”

The other heroes were quick to follow after, until the only figures in the room were Lapis Lazuli and Thanos. Lapis made her way towards the door, carefully closing it.

“I would be happy in letting you suffer.” Lapis declared before she turned towards the Mad Titan. “But we would never defeat Nebula without your help.”

“What if I withhold this aid?” Thanos asked. “What benefits do I reap on Nebula’s defeat?”

“The truth.” Lapis declared, as Thanos stared at her with slight confusion. “About yourself.”

“You have some special insight into this matter?” Thanos asked.

“Right after Steven returned from his trial on Homeworld, I was convinced that the Diamonds would come after him. I ran away from Earth and tried to flee the galaxy, but I felt lonely and came back. I stationed myself on the moon, in Pink Diamond’s base, and there I found something quite interesting…” Lapis declared, staring at Thanos with a serious expression. “The Soul Gem.”

Thanos gasped in shock.

“For months I was linked with that stone! I used it to spy into the souls of the Gems on Earth, to know what was happening without being physically present! The link between me and the Soul Gem became stronger with every second I held it! Even now we are still linked! That is why Blue Diamond could not affect me with her powers! That is how I knew that you had completed the Infinity Gauntlet! Whenever you used the Soul Gem, I had access to your inner heart! I could see everything!” Lapis declared as she took several steps towards Thanos, just as Thanos took a few steps back. “I know you better than anyone else in the universe! I know you better than you know yourself!”

Thanos continued to take a few steps back, trying to stay as far away from Lapis as he could, before his back touched the wall.

“Look back into your life, Thanos of Titan, and what do you see?” Lapis asked. “A man seeking ultimate power, and losing it the moment he attains it! Because deep in his soul he knows he is not worthy of it!”

“Shut your mouth!” Thanos yelled, before he pushed Lapis away and walked to the other side of the room, looking away from Lapis. “It’s not true… I just made a mistake… I…”

“You subconsciously supply means of you own defeat.” Lapis declared. “This is not the first time this has happened. You let Nebula take the Infinity Gauntlet from you, just as in the past you had let Captain Marvel shatter the Cosmic Cube.”

“Very well!” Thanos yelled in aguish. “I will aid you… just… stop talking…”

“Is all in the readiness?” Lapis asked as she walked out of the room, Thanos closely following her.

“Everyone is set to go.” Strange declared as he opened a large portal. “Except for Doctor Doom. He just left.”

“Fight well, Asgardian.” Drax declared.

“We shall give it our all.” Thor answered, before the heroes all nodded and leaped through the portal.

“They haven’t one chance in a million for victory.” Thanos commented.

“They are well aware of that fact.” Lapis declared. “But we do have said chance.”

“Yes…” Thanos whispered. “One in a million.”

“Already the mist begins to part. The future clears for me and so does my destiny.” Nebula declared, as she sat on a large throne, the Gods still frozen inside the light prison Thanos had created. “In exactly five seconds from now, I’ll be receiving some visitors.”

The portal opened and the heroes flew out. As fast as they could, they struck as one, in a combined struck that shook the heavens, but against the power of the Infinity Gauntlet, they are nothing. Nebula thought for a moment, and the heroes found themselves frozen in place, their bodies paralyzed in time, while their minds could still see the world around them.

“A momentary diversion. You are children sent to pester, just a means of attracting my attention.” Nebula declared, before she got up from the throne and turned. “Two more will appear to challenge my might.”

Another portal opened, and three figures walked out. Doctor Strange, Lapis Lazuli, and Thanos of Titan.

“Hello, father.”

Infinity Gems (Part 4):

“Come and get me!” The Titan declared.

“There are truths that cannot be denied.” Mephisto commented as he stood behind Thanos. “He is one of them.”

“For he is Thanos.” Spinel continued. “And his name means death.”

Namor, Thor, and Iron Man were the first ones to attack. Namor dashed with all of his strength, Thor threw his mighty hammer Mjolnir, and Iron Man charged and fired a powerful laser. Thanos smiled, before he snapped his fingers, and all three heroes suddenly froze in place. Thanos had frozen them in time.

“Was this the best the universe could send against me?” Thanos commented, before he once again snapped his fingers, and all four were send flying backwards as they were unfrozen, their bodies being slammed right onto the crowd of heroes. “Pathetic.”

“He’s fast…” Iron Man whispered as the four struggled to get back up.

“Thanos could wipe them all out with a single thought.” Mephisto commented. “Why is he giving them a fighting chance?”

“He is showing off.” Spinel declared. “Thanos is trying to give Mistress Death a spectacle.”

Thanos laughed, before two large figures dashed and punched him right on the face.

“Hulk smash!” Hulk declared as he threw a flurry of powerful punches.

“I’ve waited long for this moment, Mad Titan!” Drax the Destroyer declared as he threw a flurry of powerful punches.

“I can see you like smashing. Very well…” Thanos declared, completely unphased by their strikes, before Thanos suddenly grew to the size of a skyscraper, and tossed the two away like insects. “I will smash you!”

“Ugh… such strength…” Drax whispered from the ground.

“You’re quite big.” Thanos heard as a large shadow covered him, before he looked up to see the massive fusion, Obsidian, towering before him. “But we are bigger!”

Obsidian opened her monstruous mouth and fired a powerful blast of burning plasma, striking Thanos directly and completely covering his body in light. Vision and Scarlet Witch flew near Obsidian and added their own blasts, Vision shooting Thanos with a laser from his forehead, as Scarlet Witch blasted the Titan with red magic. Cyclops ran in and fired his optic blast, just as Storm and Thor flew above them and created large clouds, before firing several massive lightning strikes onto Thanos.

“Impressive…” Thanos whispered, before he snapped his fingers. Space around the area was suddenly warped, and the heroes found themselves being struck by their own attacks. There were several large explosions as the heroes fell to the ground, Obsidian unfusing in a large blast of light, as the Mad Titan stood completely unharmed. “But not impressive enough.”

“The plan is working!” Captain America whispered to Cyclops, who had landed right next to him. “Keep on attacking!”

“And hopefully a few of us might survive!” Cyclops whispered back, before getting back up.

Namor and Garnet dashed towards the Mad Titan, before throwing a powerful flurry of blows onto Thanos. Thanos simply waved his hand, and a powerful blast of energy flew out of the Infinity Gauntlet. Iron Man and Nova quickly flew in and grabbed Namor and Garnet, pulling them out of the way at the last second, yet the blast was still able to touch their feet.

“Look! Something is growing right on the spot where Thanos struck us!” Namor declared, as they looked down to see some strange black mass swallowing their feet, and then moving up their bodies. “Drop us! Quick!”

Nova and Iron Man swiftly obeyed, tossing Namor and Garnet to the ground. Before they could even land, the black mass completely covered their bodies, and they fell to the ground immobile. Thanos saw a light with the corner of his eye, and turned to see Doctor Strange had fired a large magic blast towards him. Thanos calmly raised his hands, and the blast hit what seemed to be an invisible shield around Thanos’ body.

“You call this sorcery? I’ll show you what it means to be supreme.” Thanos declared as he fired his own blast of energy, which easily overpowered Strange’s magic and flew towards him. Strange teleported away right at the last second, appearing above Thanos’ head and preparing another spell, when Thanos’ energy blast suddenly teleported as well, and struck Strange directly. The sorcerer screamed in pain, as a large explosion sent him flying away from Thanos.

“A man will fight when hope may be dim!” Thor declared as he charged Mjolnir with lightning, before firing it towards Thanos. “A God will fight when hope be gone!”

Thanos glanced at the hammer, as a portal suddenly formed before Mjolnir and swallowed it, teleporting the hammer to the other side of the galaxy. Thor began running as he charged his fists with all the energy he still had. Without Mjolnir, Thor would revert back to Donald Blake in sixty seconds. He reached Thanos and threw a large flurry of punches, charged with every last drop of power the God of Thunder could muster. Thor had to make every second count.

Thanos grabbed Thor’s fist, casually stopping his strike, before punching him right on the chest. Thor coughed blood, before Thanos casually tossed him away. Thanos turned, to see what seemed to be an army of holograms flying towards him with swords in hands.

“Holo-Pearls! Put an end to this madness!” Pearl declared while charging a large blast of energy, as her holograms flew and struck Thanos hundreds of times with their blades, before Pearl fired her blast, creating a large explosion of light that consumed both the Holo-Pearls and the Titan. The shattered parts of the Holo-Pearls flew through the air, before Thanos calmly walked out of the light, completely unharmed. Before Pearl could react, Thanos snapped his fingers, and the shattered pieces of the Holo-Pearl’s came together into a large Holo-Thanos, which struck Pearl with a punch, destroying her physical form, before disappearing.

“There is no end to Thanos.” The Titan declared, before he turned around to see Wolverine dashing towards him and stabbing him right through the chest with his claws. Thanos groaned in pain as the adamantium pierced through his skin, before Thanos smiled. Wolverine suddenly screamed, before he fell to the ground, his adamantium skeleton having been transformed into spongy rubber.

Cyclops, Iron Man, and Scarlet Witch ran towards Thanos and fired their blasts. Thanos snapped his fingers and a large mirror appeared in front of Iron Man, deflecting his blast back into himself and sending Tony Stark flying away. Cyclops and Scarlet Witch continued to power through and fired their blasts, before Thanos created a large fist of energy and struck Scarlet Witch right through the chest, making her fall to the ground.

“Wanda!” Vision screamed in terror, as he flew towards Scarlet Witch and began carrying her away from Thanos. “Please! I can’t lose you!”

Cyclops powered through and continued to walk towards Thanos, increasing the intensity of his optic blast with every step, to a point he had never reached before. Thanos put his hand up, and Cyclops felt what seemed to be a powerful gravitational force trying to crush him on the ground. Cyclops yelled in pain, yet he forced his body to continue walking. The gravitational force got stronger with every step he took, until Cyclops felt as if his bones were about to break, yet he continued to walk until he reached Thanos, and fired an optic blast with all of the power he still had left in him, creating a massive explosion of red energy.

Cyclops breathed heavily as the gravity around himself stopped. He felt as if he was about to black out at any moment. The smoke from the explosion began to settle, and Cyclops looked up in terror, to see Thanos still standing before him, completely unharmed. A smile formed on Thanos’ face.

“I like you.” Thanos declared, before he blasted Cyclops with a multi-colored laser from the gauntlet, sending him flying away.

“Scott!” Steven yelled as he leaped and grabbed Cyclops in midair, before gently floating down with his leader in his arms. Steven’s expression changed into one of pure terror. “He’s not breathing! Scott is not breathing!”

“Ugh!” Thor whispered on the ground, before a flash of light covered his body, and vanished just as quickly to reveal Donald Blake. Donald’s eyes suddenly widened as he held his own neck. Doctor Strange had placed a spell upon the heroes to allow them to breathe in space, but it seemed like said spell did not extent to the mortal Donald Blake.

“You’re a murderer!” Captain America declared as he pointed towards Thanos. “You’re a cold-blooded monster!”

“Such an emotional outburst.” Thanos commented with a smile. “Not at all what I expected from the legendary Captain America.”

“He dropped his guard!” Strange declared, before Thanos felt his own body being pulled into a dimensional warp filled with mirrors, before it closed around him and disappeared. “I trapped him inside the Mirror Dimension!”

“Can you hold him?” Captain America asked.

“I don’t know… I think…” Strange whispered, as he struggled to hold the dimension closed, before his eyes widened and he screamed. “No!”

There was a massive explosion as Strange felt reality itself breaking around him. Thanos broke right through the mirror dimension and casually walked out of it as Strange fell to the ground.

“Supremacy cannot be imprisoned.” Thanos declared. “My divinity is absolute.”

“Your godhood is false, Titan!” Captain America declared. “All false Gods eventually fall!”

Thanos heard footsteps, before Drax the Destroyer ran in and held the titan from behind with a headlock. Nova flew in and blasted Thanos right on the forehead.

Donald Blake opened his eyes right as he was about to faint, as he saw Mjolnir coming towards him from the outer-space surrounding them. The hammer had traveled through the entire galaxy just to return to him. With all the strength he had left, Blake raised his hand and grabbed the hammer, before a large flash turned him back into the mighty Thor, who quickly got back to his feet before dashing towards Thanos.

“For how long have they been fighting?” Mephisto asked.

“About two minutes or so.” Spinel commented. “Most of the heroes are already down.”

“This probably won’t take long.” Mephisto commented as he looked up, to see Death was not staring at the battle, instead looking at the space above them. “This is not a battle. This is a slaughter.”

Spinel looked away from the battle and turned to Nebula, who was standing perfectly still, an empty expression on her face. Nebula’s body and mind had been shattered beyond all caring. She was but another twisted creation of Thanos’ black soul and infinite power. He had made her the charred caricature of the brim she was. Nebula would be better off dead.

Thanos walked over Drax and Nova’s unconscious bodies on the ground, as he made his way towards Thor, just as the Norse God also flew towards him. Thanos raised his gauntlet, only for it to get caught by a purple whip coming from behind him, just as a spider web caught his other hand. Thanos turned around to see Amethyst and Spider-Man.

“You got a little something on your face.” Spidey declared, before he fired a web onto Thanos’ eyes. “Although, frankly, it’s an improvement.”

Thor fired a lightning onto Thanos, creating a large explosion as Spidey and Amethyst jumped away at the last second.

“Do you practice your jokes beforehand, or do you make them up as you go?” Amethyst asked.

“A little bit of both.” Spider-Man commented.

“Another one!” Thor declared as he charged another blast of lightning, when there was a large flash, and Thor was transformed into a glass statue. Thanos got back up, just as Amethyst and Spider-Man gasped in surprise.

“Thanos is inevitable.” The Titan declared as he turned towards the two and fired a blast of energy. Steven jumped in front of Amethyst and Spider-Man. The mutant created a shield, blocking the blast. The other X-Men quickly followed, putting their hands behind the shield to help Steven hold it. Thanos closed his hands and the blast broke right through the shield and struck them all in a massive explosion, before they all fell to the ground, powerless. “All light is lost.”

“Back off, prune face!” Thanos heard, before Iron Man flew in and fired his blasts towards Thanos. “No one else is dying while Iron Man is around!”

“Not round. Square.” Thanos declared, before he snapped his fingers, and Iron Man’s body was transformed into a statue of colored squares, like a child’s toy blocks, which quickly fell apart as Iron Man’s body hit the ground. Thanos turned around and struck the glass Thor, reducing his body to shards on the ground.

“Thanos!” Doctor Strange declared as he charged yet another spell.

“You become a sorcerer in hopes of fixing your broken hands, didn’t you?” Thanos declared, before he snapped his fingers, and Strange’s hands suddenly exploded in a blast of energy, leaving nothing behind but smoke. Strange screamed in agony, before he fell to the ground powerless. “You suffer, Strange. You suffer from unwarranted delusions of grandeur.”

Thanos fired his laser eyes at Strange, who screamed in terror as his entire body was reduced to ashes.

“It’s not over until the fat lady sings, Thanos.” The Titan heard, before he turned around to see Captain America walking towards him.

“Surely you jest.” Thanos declared.

“Never been any good at stand-up routines.” Steve Rogers declared as he continued to walk towards Thanos.

“Or at organizing a cosmic assault, I see.” Thanos declared in a mocking tone.

“We tried.” Captain America declared, not a trace of fear or doubt in his mind as he approached the Titan, until the two were face to face. “As long as one man stands against you, Thanos, you will never be able to claim victory.”

“Noble sentiments for one who is about to die.” Thanos declared.

“I’ve lived my life by those sentiments.” Captain America declared. “They’re well worth dying for.”

Thanos threw a punch, which Captain America avoided, before hands of stone came out of the ground and held Captain America’s feet. Thanos threw another punch, which Captain America blocked with his shield. A cracking sound echoed through the battlefield, as the shield broke to pieces in Thanos’s hands.

“Then you shall die!” Thanos declared as he raised his gauntlet, all of the Infinity Gems glowing brightly.

“Now!” Lapis Lazuli declared, before she flew in at incredible speeds and grabbed the Infinity Gauntlet, about to pull it out of Thanos’ hand.

“Stop! Don’t!” Thanos yelled in desperation, as he felt his godhood slipping away.

“The gauntlet!” They heard, and Lapis’ eyes widened as Doctor Doom jumped in, pushing Lapis away and reaching for the Infinity Gauntlet.

“Doom! Get out of the way!” Lapis yelled in surprise.

“Too late!” Thanos declared, as he closed his hands, and a large blast sent both Lapis and Doctor Doom flying away, both of their bodies burning as they screamed in terror. “I’ll have to admit, you came very close. One more centimeter, and I’d have lost it all.”

Thanos turned around and punched Captain America in the face, knocking him out with a single hit.

“Had I lost the Infinity Gauntlet back then, I’d be doomed.” Thanos commented as he turned around to see large figures floating above the battlefield. “For a far greater struggle is about to begin.”

Right there, flying above Thanos’ head, were the Celestial One Above All, Lord Chaos, Master Order, Odin the All-Father, Eternity, Galactus, White Diamond, and the Cosmic Cube Beyonder.

“Armageddon commences but in seconds.” Spinel commented. “We have front roll seats for the event.”

Infinity Gems (Part 3):

“Infinite power.” Mephisto whispered. “Ego gone wild.”

“Deprived creativity.” Spinel commented, as the two looked up at the massive word, ‘THANOS’, which had been spelled in the sky with entire planets. “Not sure if I should call this a magnificent masterpiece, or a magnificent nightmare.”

“I don’t believe the inhabitants of the planets he purloined to create this wonder have any doubt about that.” Mephisto added.

“Their views do not matter to me.” Thanos commented, his voice nearly drowned by the scream of agony coming from Nebula, as he used the energy from the gauntlet to twist, stretch, and reshape her limbs as he pleased.

“But I fear, my Titan, that those are the views Mistress Death seems to share.” Spinel commented, as she looked over to see Death had turned away from the planets that had been moving, and was still looking at the stars.

“What will it take to win her heart?” Thanos asked, as he dropped Nebula on the ground. “What?”

“Thanos! I thought he had been killed!” Captain America declared.

“We all did, but he’s back.” Lapis declared, as she stood in the middle of the meeting room in Avengers Tower. “Now he is worse than ever.”

“He is in space right now. We could use Strange’s spells and my Future Vision to track him.” Garnet commented.

“The four of us alone won’t be able to beat him.” Lapis declared. “We’ll need all the help we can get.”

“We called all allies we could get in contact with to meet here, but it seems like they got derailed dealing with those planetary earthquakes.” Captain America explained.

“That is nothing the Sorcerer Supreme cannot fix.” Doctor Strange declared, before he put his hands in the air, and a large portal opened in the middle of the room. “I call upon you, heroes of this universe, to aid in the struggle this poor tortured world suffers!”

“Then Iron Man will just have to answer that call.” Tony Stark declared as he came out of the portal, followed closely by Wolverine, who now worn his yellow outfit. “If it isn’t our most honored freedom fighter.”

Iron Man walked towards Captain America, before the two shook hands.

“Okay, whatever is causing this has taken their best shot.” Logan declared. “Now it’s our turn.”

The portal behind them changed, before they heard another familiar voice.

“That sounds like a job for your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!” Peter Parker declared, before he jumped through the portal and perfectly landed.

“If you want to kill Thanos, you’ve come to the right man.” They heard, before Drax the Destroyer came in through the portal, followed closely by Nova. “Although it would be easier if the others hadn’t disappeared.”

“Don’t worry.” Nova declared. “We are the only guardians this galaxy needs.”

“We must fight. Our enemy overpowers us by hundreds of times, but we must win.” They heard, before Namor the Submariner walked in through the portal. “Let’s start.”

“Why is it that every time I try to get some sleep, the world almost gets destroyed?” They heard, before Amethyst walked in through the portal.

“Our enemy might be powerful, but we possess the greatest power on Earth.” Cyclops declared, as the X-Men walked in through the portal. “The power of the human brain.”

“Garnet! Amethyst!” Steven declared as he ran towards them and hugged them both. “I’m so happy you two didn’t disappear!”

“We’re glad you’re okay too.” Garnet commented.

“Haven’t seen you in a while.” Cyclops commented as he approached Wolverine. “You can still join us again if you want.”

“I will whenever you stop trying to make kids fight against Sentinels as if they were combat troops.” Wolverine declared.

“We’re mutants, Logan.” Cyclops declared. “We’ve all been fighting since childhood, in one way or another.”

“Are you two really going to do this right now?” Rogue asked in annoyance as she got in between the two.

“So, how’s been going?” Amethyst asked.

“It’s been great!” Steven declared with a smile. “I’m a fully-fledged X-Man now!”

“I knew it was the right choice to put you in that school.” They heard, before they turned to see Pearl entering through the portal. Steven ran and hugged her, before Vision and Thor arrived right after her.

“If what you lack is power, then you lack it no longer.” Thor declared. “All the power of the storm, from all the world, flows through my veins. All that I need is that you bring me Thanos.”

“Half of the living beings in the universe have disappeared.” Vision commented. “He holds such incredible power, beyond even the wildest of imaginations…”

“Maybe so.” Vision heard, before he turned around, to see the Scarlet Witch walked through the portal. “But as long as I live, and until I die, I will fight.”

Vision nodded, before he approached Wanda and hugged her.

“Is that everyone?” Garnet asked.

“There is one more.” Doctor Strange commented. They all felt the ground shaking beneath them, as if they were being approached by a walking earthquake, seconds before a muscular emerald goliath walked in through the portal.

“Well, we have the Hulk.” Iron Man commented.

Hulk looked down upon the crowd, before his eyes met with Wolverine’s. The two growled in slight anger, before they turned away from each other.

“Very well. We’ve all gathered here to take on Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet.” Captain America declared. “We know nothing of the mysterious workings of the Infinity Gems. Before we go, we must come up with a plan of attack.”

“My eyes see it, but I just can’t believe it.” Marc Spector declared as he landed on top of the Empire State building, dressed on his full Moon Knight costume, and looked down upon the destroyed city. “In one second, half of the city has been destroyed, and who knows what will come next to consume whatever is left of New York city. When will it end? What will be left when it does?”

“Hey! Stop touching my things, you clod!” Peridot yelled, before several Doombots blocked her way.

“Don’t take it personally.” Doctor Doom declared as he walked through the large launch base in Little Homeworld, before reaching a large green spaceship in the shape of a hand. “It would take too long for me to return to Latveria and get my own spaceship, so I shall use yours.”

“You don’t even know how to drive it!” Peridot yelled angrily, as Doom entered the ship.

“I learn quite quickly.” Doom declared, as he grabbed the controls and quickly launched the ship into the sky. “I am Doom!”

“That guy again?” Spinel asked as she looked up. “Hey! Big head! Why do you always show up at the worst times?”

“How long has he been hovering there?” Mephisto asked, also looking up.

“Only a few minutes.” Thanos commented, not bothering to look up, as he knew above them stood Uatu the Watcher, looking down upon the scene. “Fools are taking arms against my omnipotence, rushing head on into Armageddon.”

Thanos smiled.

“I shall provide them the most glorious doomsday. As always, Thanos will stand triumphant.”

“Prepare yourselves for the most fierce and awesome of all battles.” Captain America declared, as they all stood on the rooftop of Avengers Tower. Doctor Strange nodded, before he reached for his necklace, the Eye of Agamotto. A large portal in the shape of an eye appeared before them.

“I have cast a spell that will take us to our enemy, and will also allow us all to breathe freely in the vacuum of space for the next sixty minutes.” Strange declared.

“If we don’t beat him in sixty minutes, I doubt we’ll beat him at all.” Amethyst commented.

“I wish each of you the best of luck.” Cyclops commented.

“Lead the way, Captain America!” Thor declared, before Steve Rogers nodded and charged into the portal, the others quickly following after. There was a bright flash of light, before they found themselves running through a large piece of land floating through space, the Mad Titan standing before them.

“Those fools. Their power means less than nothing to me.” Thanos declared with a smile, as the heroes continued to charge towards him. “They stand defeated before the battle has even begun.”

Thanos took a single step forward.

“Come and get me!” The Titan declared.

Infinity Gems (Part 2):

“Hang in there!” Pearl declared, as she used her blade to slice right through the door of the airship, which Thor was gently placing onto the ground.

“The pilot and co-pilot just vanished mid-flight.” Vision declared, as he phased in through a wall and helped Pearl take the passengers out. “They would be doomed had we not been nearby.”

“I’m worried about how many planes around the world didn’t have heroes nearby!” Pearl declared as she picked up a small child, who cried in pain as she gently touched him. “This boy broke his leg during the fall!”

“Where are your parents, child?” Vision asked.

“T-the-they’re…” The child whispered. “Gone!”

Pearl and vision stared at each other with serious expressions on their face, before Pearl felt something inside her, and reached for her gem to pull out her Avengers communicator. There was one single notification: An emergency meeting.

“Life forms disappearing randomly all over the planet. What could have caused such a disaster? This is a question without answer. This question that I must answer, for this is my planet, my people disappearing.” The figure in the shadows declared as he quickly typed onto his high-tech computers. He approached the screen, his metallic face becoming visible in the light. “I will show what happens to those who temper with what belongs to Doctor Doom!”

“Here is the updated list of the heroes who disappeared.” Captain America declared, as he pressed a button and a large list of names appeared on the screen inside the Avengers Tower. “Have you had any luck contacting S.H.I.E.L.D.?”

“They’re too busy rescuing civilians to help us. I can’t truly blame them. Half of the planet’s population just disappeared. We’ll have to work with who we have here” Garnet declared as she looked over the screen. “All members of the Fantastic Four vanished.”

“Right now, when the world needs them more than ever…” Captain America commented, before he once again looked over the computer. “Pearl, Vision, Thor, Amethyst, Hulk and Iron Man have already gotten the notification for the meeting and are heading here right now. I also been trying to contact Spider-Man, Namor, Wakanda, and the New Warriors. I’ve been getting some messages from the X-Men. However, for some reason I can’t seem to contact Doctor Strange.”

“I warn you, Doom. You are meddling with matters that you do not understand.” Doctor Strange declared, as several Doombots pointed their blasters at him, standing right in front of Doctor Strange’s building.

“Then enlighten me, Sorcerer Supreme. If there is one person who holds the answer to this mystery, it must be you.” Doctor Doom ordered, as more Doombots held down Lapis. “You will tell me the cause of this disaster, or you will find out the horrors that lie behind the name of Doom.”

“His name is Thanos.” Doom heard, before he turned around to see his Doombots being sliced right through by water blades made out of Lapis’ wings. He turned back to Strange, who quickly blew up several more Doombots with a blast of magic. Doom charged his gloves with energy and pointed at the two, preparing to fire at any moment.

“You have the Sorcerer Supreme and an ancient elemental being before you.” Strange commented. “You should really learn to pick your battles.”

“You fool!” Doctor Doom declared. “Doom does as he pleases!”

“I simply cannot understate the pleasures of having my family here with me.” Thanos declared sarcastically. He heard Nebula’s screams of agony, as her body was consumed in flames, the blazes frying her flesh, yet her body would simply not die. Thanos smiled.

“Mistress Death doesn’t seem amused, my lord.” Mephisto commented, as Thanos turned to look at Death, who continued to simply look at the stars.

“That is easy for me to remedy.” Thanos decided, as he snapped his fingers, and the flames around Nebula vanished, before she fell to the ground. Her wounds were deadly but Thanos’ power would simply not allow her to die.

“This power has made him even more deranged than he already was…” Spinel whispered, hoping the Mad Titan could not hear her. “He has gone completely insane.”

“We might be at this for a while!” Strange commented, as his blast of magic combined with Lapis’ jet of water managed to just barely match Doom’s energy blast, the struggle between the two being perfectly equal in between them, before exploding in a large flash of light that sent Strange and Lapis to the ground.

“This is a waste of time!” Lapis declared, as she summoned her wings and flew above the ground. “Thanos is out there with the Infinity Gauntlet right now! He could wipe the entire universe out of existence at any moment! We have to call the other heroes and find a way to stop him!”

“Very well. Go raise your army.” Doom declared, as he turned around and began walking away from the scene. “See what comes of it.”

“Strange, let’s go!” Lapis declared, before Strange nodded and the two flew away.

“Is this improvisation more to your liking, my love?” Thanos asked, as with a wave of his hands he turned Nebula into paper ribbons, before reforming her and dividing her body into hundreds of cubes. Thanos turned to Death, to see her once again turning away. Thanos’ expression changed into one of anger, before he let out a scream that shook the cosmos. “What does it take to please you?”

Thanos walked towards Death, each step seeming to make the ground quake, tossing both Spinel and Mephisto to the ground.

“I would do anything to hear you speak my name!” Thanos declared, as he closed his fists, and Spinel looked up upon hearing the sound of hundreds of stars exploding around them, struck with a power that rocked the universe. “Anything!”

“What is going on? First half of the population disappears, now it is like the Earth has been hit by a gigantic quake coming from space!” Iron Man declared as he flew through a collapsing city. The quake was making fissures open on the ground and buildings collapse around them. Tony Stark quickly flew through the buildings, pulling the people away and gently placing them on the ground as they began to run. Stark looked up to see a massive piece of a building was about to crush him. He charged his blasters and prepared to destroy it, only for it to be sliced to pieces before it could hit him. Iron Man looked down, to see a familiar face standing nearby. “Logan!”

“Less talking, more saving!” Wolverine declared, before Iron Man nodded and the two continued to move through the collapsing city.

“What’s with those tidal waves?” Namor whispered, as the submariner swam as fast as he could underwater. Undersea caves were collapsing, volcano at the bottom of the ocean were becoming active after thousands of years, it was like an underwater apocalypse. This was probably the greatest disaster the sea had ever face, even worse than when Lapis Lazuli stole the ocean. “If we’re not able to stop whatever is causing this, the entire world will be destroyed!”

Infinity Gems (Part 1):

“There can be no denying, you are supreme. Anything you wish to be, you are. Anything you wish, is. Nothing in the universe dares to challenge that claim. There can only be one word to describe you…”

‘GOD.’

Stood the three giant letters on the surface of the desolate planet. Taller than any skyscraper, the shadow of that single word covered kilometers, yet even they failed to do justice to the absolute greatness that stood before them. The Mad Titan, Thanos. On his hand a golden glove, containing six glowing gems.

“Within your grasp rests the infinite. My humble personage bows before your grandeur.” Mephisto declared as he bowed before the titan. “I am proud to be one of your first acolytes and bask in the glory of your divine presenc–”

“Are you going to keep speaking like this all day? I doubt most people even know what ‘acolytes’ means.” Spinel commented, before she too bowed before the titan. “How may I serve you, my Titan?”

“I was about to say that.” Mephisto declared in annoyance.

“Spinel is correct Mephisto. Fall silent.” Thanos ordered, which the demon was quick to obey. Spinel gave Mephisto a mocking smile, which he ignored, before the two looked at their master. “The moment is upon us when the stars must come to realize the absolute truth of your words.”

Thanos waved his hand, and the three massive letters shook to their very foundations, before collapsing, the ground shaking beneath them as the gigantic word ‘GOD’ made of three massive stone letters broke down to nothing but worthless rubble, as even that word could not describe what the Mad Titan had become.

“None shall deny my righteous place in the pantheon of the Cosmic Gods.” Thanos decided, a decision he knew nobody in the universe had the right to overturn. “I claim the seat at the head of the table.”

The three heard the sound of wings flapping, before they looked up, to see a blue figure flying down towards them.

It had been an uneventful day, and Stephen Strange hoped the night would be the same. There were secrets hidden within the heavens that even he was unable to predict. The Sorcerer Supreme might have been the most powerful mage, but he was still just a mage, not some all-knowing deity.

Strange sat on midair in front of the table, a cup of tea in his hands as a book floated before him, the pages flipping by themselves as soon as he was done reading them. It was a medical book, quite a throwback to his old days, the simpler days, back when the only thing he had to worry about was removing a bullet from someone’s brain. He heard the sound of glass breaking upstairs. The book closed by itself, before Strange’s cape flew from the other side of the room and positioned itself onto him. The simpler days were long gone.

“Wong and the others are out shopping, meaning this must be an intruder.” Strange declared as he floated upwards, before standing right in front of a pair of doors. “What will I find in this room? A simple burglar who chose the wrong house, or a world destroying demon from another dimension?”

Strange waved his hand as the door flung open and he flew inside, before his eyes widened at the sight before him. Right there, on the ground alongside chards of broken glass, laid a fellow member of the Defenders: Lapis Lazuli. She was breathing heavily, and seemed like her physical form would fall apart at any second.

“Doctor Strange… is that you?” Lapis asked, her vision blurry.

“The one and only.” Strange declared, before he carefully picked the blue Gem up from the ground and teleported to another room, gently placing her on a bed. “Speak with me. What happened?”

“I came… to warn you…” Lapis whispered. “Danger… great danger… coming this way… I tried to stop him… but he’s too strong…”

“Who? What?” Strange asked.

“The end of the universe is upon us!” Lapis declared. Doing something as simple as speaking seemed to take all of the strength she had left. “Thanos is coming!”

“Thanos? I thought he was dead.” Strange declared, before Lapis’ form exploded into a cloud of smoke in his hands, leaving nothing but a tiny teardrop shaped blue stone on the bed. Strange got up and turned around, an expression of purpose in his face. “I believe I must make some phone calls.”

“For many months I have contemplated the direction in which I should steer the destiny of this reality. All the myriad of possibilities. So many choices.” Thanos declared as he calmly walked through the desolate world, Spinel and Mephisto closely following him. “At times it seemed I would drown under and infinity of self-questioning. But at long last I realize there is but one question that needs answering. I am now omnipotent. What should I do with such almighty power? The answer to that is really quite simple.”

Thanos took a few more steps. It seemed as if his simple walk made the universe tremble in fear.

“Anything I want.”

Spinel and Mephisto looked around and widened their eyes in horror, seeing themselves now floating in the middle of outer space, the world they had been stepping on gone, reduced to atoms.

“I am incapable of error. Any result that displeases me, I can simply reverse. There is nothing I need to worry on, for I am Thanos, and Thanos…” He narrated, before he turned around to look down at the two. “Thanos is supreme.”

“Huh… most definitely!” Mephisto nodded.

“Y-yes, my Titan!” Spinel nodded.

“Supreme…” Thanos repeated with a smile.

There was a blinding flash, and the three found themselves standing in the middle of a dark room. Mephisto turned to see a large throne made of bones, and standing before it was a figure all three of them knew well.

“Mistress Death, my love. I have returned.” Thanos declared as he took a few steps towards his beloved. “It is my most sincere hope that you have at last forgiven me my duplicity in gaining the Infinity Gems.”

Death stared at Thanos for a moment, before turning away. Thanos stared at the back of his beloved for a few moments, before Mephisto dared to break the silence.

“My lord, my sympathies.” Mephisto whispered, carefully with his words. Angering the Titan even for a second could have disastrous consequences. “You are not deserving of such brusque treatment.”

“No…” Thanos declared. “I am not… will she not speak with me, even now that I am her equal?”

“Superior.” They heard, before Thanos turned to Spinel, making the pink Gem take a step back in fear. There was a moment of silence, before she realized Thanos wanted her to continue speaking. “Last time you’ve met, she was too powerful for you to be together. Now it is the opposite. The Infinity Gauntlet has made you so powerful that Death cannot compare to you. You can’t be together, because she does not believe herself to be worthy. This power dynamic is completely uneven.”

“Not worthy?” Thanos whispered, before he turned to Death. “You are worthy, my beloved. You have always been worthy. You are something that must be revered, and I will prove it.”

Thanos waved his hand, and the throne room in Death’s palace suddenly turned into the front of an even bigger castle, with gigantic golden statues of Death everywhere around them.

“I am now a deity, but once I was a man.” Thanos declared. “My admiration for death is the only mortal trait worth bringing with me to this lofty plateau.”

With a mere thought, Thanos created two large golden thrones, and he sat on one of them.

“Come sit at my side, dearest one. In the depths of the eternal night, you and I are queen and king!” Thanos declared. “Our domain be all the universe!”

Death stared at Thanos for a few seconds, her emotionless gaze unmoving, before she once again turned away.

“Still, she spurns me?” Thanos asked.

“Mistress Death is a Dark Spirit, ebon in her ways.” Mephisto declared. “Her mate must be of like bent. She must not believe you are up to such a challenge.”

“Am I not Thanos?” The titan asked angrily, as he got up from his throne, his thunderous voice making reality quake. “Did I not butcher the woman who gave me birth? Who forced me into this hell called life? Death is with me every second of the day! Who under the stars is more suited than I?”

“No one.” Mephisto declared, before they looked at Death, who continued to ignore them. “But it is not I you must prove this to.”

Thanos thought for a few seconds, before raising his fist. With a flash of light, a humanoid figure appeared above them and slowly floated to the ground. It was hard to even tell the figure was alive. It was so skinny that the bones were visible, and the skin seemed like it was about to fall apart at any second, filled with deep wounds and scratches. For all intends and purposes, that seemed to be a dead body, yet it continued to breathe.

“Mistress Death, behold my greatest creation! Let me introduce you to Nebula, my granddaughter!” Thanos declared, as Nebular struggled to even remain breathing. “From a vigorous and healthy young thing, I created that which now stands before you! Limbs twisted! Flesh charred and cracked! Nearly mindless! She lives in a fine line between life and death! A strange limbo of continuous agony and pain! She is my living tribute to the blasphemy of life and the glorious promise of death!”

Death stared at the living corpse that was Nebula for a moment, before once again turning away to look at the stars. Mephisto and Spinel took a few steps back in horror, as they noticed traces of anger appearing on Thanos’ face.

“Do not turn your back on me, woman!” The titan roared, as the castle near them suddenly exploded, the blast illuminating the darkness of the universe for just a moment, as they opened their eyes to see the great palace was now nothing but ashes. “What have I done to deserve such rejection?”

Thanos thought for a few seconds, before he turned to the stars.

“Or maybe, it is something I haven’t done…” Thanos whispered, breathing for a few seconds before turning back. “I will extinguish the light of half of the universe’s populace. Only then my task shall be complete.”

Thanos gently put his gauntlet up.

“Is this for real?” Mephisto asked. “Is he gonna do it?”

“I have heard that tone of voice before. It is the voice of someone who has nothing to lose.” Spinel answered. “Half of the life in the universe is about to disappear.”

The Infinity Gems glowed, as Thanos snapped his fingers.

“Ugh!” He groaned in pain mid-swing, just barely missing the web he was supposed to catch as he began falling. He quickly recovered and shot another web, pulling himself up and landing on the top of a building. He brought his hand to his head as he felt a strange vertigo. “What was that? My Spider-Sense just went crazy!”

Spider-Man heard a scream of terror coming from a few blocks away, and was quick to jump out of the building, reaching the scene in a swift swing. He stuck to the side of a wall and looked down, to see a mother screaming in front of an empty baby carriage.

“My baby! My baby is gone!”

“Charlie? Charlie, where did you go?”

“What happened to the store owner? He just vanished?”

Spider-Man looked around as he saw the people beginning to panic. Where people just randomly disappearing? Was this happening all over the city? What could be causing this? It was then that it hit him.

“Mary Jane!” Peter whispered to himself, before he shot another web and quickly swung away from the scene.

“Hawkeye! Sersi!” Captain America yelled as he saw his two friends on the other side of the room beginning to disappear. Even a super soldier such as him could not reach them in time, as they had completely vanished before he could move a muscle. Steve Rogers looked at the spot where his two friends used to be in shock. He hadn’t been able to do anything, they were gone. He fell to his knees. He felt helpless and scared, because deep inside he knew, that was only the beginning.

He heard the sound of quick footsteps running into the room, followed by the sound of the door opening.

“As I feared.” Garnet declared as she approached him. “The vision was true.”

“What did you see?” Steve asked.

“Billions upon billions of souls, simply blinking out of existence.” Garnet explained, doing her best to hide the horrified tone in her voice. “Not just on Earth, but on the entire universe. None of them even knew what struck them… it’s horrible…”

Steve took in a deep breath, before he slowly got up and turned to Garnet.

“We can’t waste our time here. Call everyone, we have to find out who still lives.” Captain America declared. “After that, we’ll meet and put our heads together. Something caused this, and we have to find out what.”

Garnet nodded.

“Avengers assemble!” The two declared in unison.

“Then she took me to space.” Steven explained as he sat on the couch.

“You went to space when you were 14?” Iceman asked, as he carefully created ice cubes and placed them inside several cups of soda. “You should have been there when we fought the Dark Phoenix. We sure needed someone with experience at that moment.”

“How did you come back to Earth afterwards?” Angel asked, sitting on the other side of the table to Steven.

“That was actually a complicated evening including a blue lawyer, two giants, a bunch of drones, and someone coming back to life.” Steven explained in a half-joking tone. “Last time I saw Aquamarine, she said that she’ll always be out there hating me, or something.”

“I want to see her try to get to you in here.” Jubilee commented from the other side of the room. “Nobody can break into Xavier's School… except Spider-Man that one time, but that one doesn’t count.”

Steven and Jubilee laughed for a few moments, before they heard the sound of glass breaking, and turned to see the soda cups in Iceman’s hands had just dropped to the ground, as Iceman’s body began to fade out of existence.

“Bobby!” Steven yelled as he got up and tried to run towards his teammate.

“Warren!” Jubilee yelled as she noticed Angel fading as well, but it was too late, as the two mutants had already vanished before either of them had the time to react. They heard a door flinging open, and turned to see another mutant running in.

“Cyclops!” The two declared in unison.

“Bobby and Warren just disappeared!” Jubilee declared.

“So did Hank a moment just now. We are clearly being attacked by something incredibly powerful.” Cyclops declared. “We have to figure out what is happening. Let’s call an–”

“Emergency meeting.” A voice in their head completed Scott’s sentence.

“Professor!” Scott declared.

“Whatever is happening has hit not only our school, but the entire universe.” Professor X declared. “There is no time to lose, we must act now. To me, my X-Men.”

The three nodded, before they quickly made their way out of the room.

“Is this it?” Strange asked Lapis. Her reformation hadn’t changed much, just the color of her belt. She didn’t have much time to focus on her appearance. “The end of the world?”

“There is no doubt about it.” Lapis declared, an expression of horror on her face. “This is Thanos!”

Awakenings

“I will show you what happens when you enrage an assassin!” Lapis declared with her eyes filled with tears as she stood near the dead bodies of her students.

“Would you rather die quickly, or be slowly tortured to death?” Oneiros asked in a mocking tone. “I’ll let you choose.”

“Damn you!” They heard, before Connie leaped over Lapis and dashed towards Oneiros, her blue Cosmo glowing as she prepared her meteors. “You’ll pay for this!”

“Insect.” Oneiros declared with a calm expression, before he flicked his finger in Connie’s general direction, and the shockwave created by his flick over powered Connie’s attack, before sending her flying back to the ground.

“Damn it! He’s strong!” Connie groaned from the ground, getting back up after some struggle. “If I was still wearing my original Pegasus Cloth, instead of this evolved version that Yellow Diamond fixed for me, my Cloth would have been completely destroyed!”

“Disappear, Pegasus.” Oneiros declared as he fired a powerful blast of Cosmo towards Connie. There was a flash of light, and Oneiros’ blast was sliced to pieces in midair, as Lapis’ arms glowed with her golden Cosmo.

“Don’t just run in without thinking.” Lapis whispered. “The enemy is stronger and faster than you. Charging in like that is asking for death.”

“He just killed them right in front of our eyes!” Connie yelled furiously. “How can you ask me to not attack in a situation such as this?”

“They were my students.” Lapis declared, as Connie stopped yelling and noticed Lapis’ hands, which were slightly shaking with anger. “Pay attention to every detail. Look for a weakness.”

Connie nodded, before the two began burning their Cosmo.

“Such stupidity. You still believe you can defeat me?” Oneiros asked while laughing. “You fool. I have no weakness.”

“We have to destroy all four souls and the body at once.” Lapis declared. Connie nodded. “Anything less and he will simply heal.”

“Disappear.” Oneiros declared as he fired a blast of Cosmo. Lapis pushed Connie out of the way of the blast, before avoiding it and dashing towards Oneiros, charging her arm with golden Cosmo.

“Sharpen, my blade. Surpass your limits, surpass the gods, surpass everything.” Lapis whispered as she charged her blade. “Sharpen and open the way towards our future!”

“Are you really so weak from the blood loss that you can’t even muster to move at light speed anymore?” Oneiros declared as he prepared to block Lapis’ blade. “You are barely crossing the sound barrier. I can easily block your slash.”

Oneiros saw a blue glow from the corner of his eye, before he saw Connie running towards him from below.

“Pegasus Comet Fist” Connie declared as she fired her comet, which Oneiros easily blocked with a finger.

“You call that an attack? That can’t even tickle me.” Oneiros mocked, as he flicked the comet away.

“Now!” Lapis declared, as Oneiros realized he had just flicked the comet in the direction of Lapis. Lapis suddenly sped up to light speed, as she stepped onto the comet and jumped off it, allowing her to change her trajectory in midair, leaping over Oneiro’s head and ending up right behind him. Before Oneiros could react, he was slashed quadrillions of times, each of his atoms being sliced to pieces by Lapis’ blade of Cosmo. “Excalibur!”

“That was risky. Lapis had to slow herself down so I could aim my comet properly. If she had gone at light speed from the start, it would have just been a flash and I wouldn’t have been able to help at all.” Connie thought to herself, as Lapis landed right next to her, before Oneiros’ body exploded and disappear, being destroyed at an atomic level. “I had to aim at the exact spot to make the comet fly towards Lapis when deflected. Oneiros had multiple chances to attack either of us, but we counted on him being way too overconfident to do so.”

“Damn it!” Lapis whispered.

“Did it work?” Connie asked, before Oneiros’ laugh began echoing through the battlefield, and a flash of purple light appeared, taking the shape of Oneiros’ body.

“You pathetic mortals.” Oneiros mocked. “Have you not yet realized that you stand no chance against me?”

“I destroyed all four of his souls and atomized his body… but I accidentally missed a single atom, which he used to regenerate entirely.” Lapis breathed, staring at Oneiros angrily. “It should have ended right there… If only my Excalibur had been sharp enough!”

“You poor Saints.” They heard Ikerus’ voice.

“You’re nothing but idiots after all.” Phantasmus’ voice declared.

“Let us destroy them once and for all, my siblings.” Morpheus’ voice added.

“My arm…” Lapis whispered, as she held her severed arm with the other hand, blood beginning to drip onto her Capricorn Cloth. “It’s bleeding again… If this takes too long, I might actually die from blood loss before this fight even concludes…”

Sanctuary, Greece, Five years earlier:

“So, you have students now?” Bismuth asked, as the two stood in front of the Capricorn Temple.

“Yes. Their names are Lacaille, Tsubaki, and Rusk.” Lapis explained, crossing her arms. “They’re still young, but have a lot of potential. I can see them becoming Saints in another handful of years or so.”

Lapis looked down, taking a quick glimpse of her arms.

“I wonder if I’ll have perfected it by then.”

“Is this about Excalibur again?” Bismuth asked with a small laugh. “Is that really the only thing you can think about?”

“My sword has to be perfect.” Lapis answered calmly, as she looked at the sunset.

“You’re one of the twelve most powerful Saints in Athena’s army.” Bismuth commented. “If you keep on training, I don’t doubt that you’ll sharpen your blade to the maximum, but…”

“But?”

“For us Saints, there are more important things than reaching the peak of our power.” Bismuth declared. “Even when you power your sword to the maximum, it will still not be the perfect blade. There will be something missing.”

“And what would that be?” Lapis asked.

“You’ll have to discover that by yourself.” Bismuth commented, before she began going down the stair leading to the Sagittarius Temple. Lapis stared at Bismuth as she left, an expression of slight confusion on Lapis’ face.

Germany, Current events:

“Pegasus… I mean… Connie.” Lapis called, as Connie glanced at her for a moment, before the two once again stared at Oneiros. “There is one thing you have to remember. The merit of a Saint does not come from their Cloth.”

“It comes from their Cosmo. Pearl told me.” Connie explained. “In a battle between Saints, the one who can burn and explode their Cosmo the most will come out victorious.”

“Correct, but there is one thing that Pearl has not taught you.” Lapis declared. “The reason why us Gold Saints are so powerful is because we can recognize the essence of Cosmo.”

“Essence of Cosmo?” Connie asked in slight confusion. “Cosmo comes from the mind.”

“There is where you are wrong. The mind can be used to access Cosmo, but it is not the essence of Cosmo itself. All your mind can do is touch the tip of the iceberg that is visible from the surface, but the actual essence of Cosmo lies deeper within.” The Capricorn Saint declared, as the Pegasus Saint listened curiously. “The true essence of Cosmo lies in the Seventh Sense.”

“Seventh Sense? I never heard this term in my life.” Connie commented. “The human body only has five senses. There is also the Sixth Sense, which is our mind. The training of our Sixth Sense grants us extrasensory perception, such as foreseeing the opponent’s next move or knowing the exact spot in which the opponent’s atoms are vulnerable, and this is what allows us to access the Cosmo within us. You are telling me there is a Seventh Sense that lies even beyond?”

“The Sixth Sense allows you to access Cosmo, but Seventh Sense is the very essence of Cosmo itself.” Lapis explained. “Us Gold Saints have all mastered our Seventh Sense, and this is why we are the most powerful among all Saints.”

“So, what you’re telling me is that if I don’t awaken this Seventh Sense, I will never be able to reach the same level of power as a Gold Saint, no matter how powerful my mind and body become?” Connie asked, before smiling. “Very well… by the end of this war, I promise to awaken my Seventh Sense!”

“Are you two done yet?” Oneiros asked. “If you have nothing else to say, I am going to kill you now.”

“Burn your Cosmo, Pegasus!” Lapis declared, as the two Saints prepared their attacks. “Burn it and awaken your Seventh Sense!”

World of Dreams:

“Alright, Bismuth. Which one do you like the most?” Her mother asked, as the 9-year-old Bismuth timidly approached the fence that separated them from the tiny horses. “Don’t be shy. We can buy whichever one you like.”

Bismuth looked over the many fillies. Some of them were running around happily. Some others were large and strong. She looked around for a few more moments, before she laid her eyes on a small filly. The filly was tiny and skinny, and was sitting on the corner, not wanting to approach the others. Bismuth pulled her mother’s dress and pointed at the filly.

“That one?” Her mother asked, before she turned to a nearby man. “Could we have that one?”

“That is Tanya. Her father passed away recently, and she is very shy and secluded.” The man explained as they looked over the little horse. “She never plays with the other horses. You’ll probably have to love her a lot if you want her to grow up healthy. Are you sure?”

“We’ll take it.” Her mother declared, as Bismuth stared at the tiny horse with stars in her eyes. Bismuth closed her eyes for a moment, and once again opened them to see five years had passed in a moment, and she was now in her 14-year-old body.

“Tanya!” Bismuth called joyfully, as the large mare ran towards her. Bismuth mounted Tanya, before she began trotting gently through the field.

Tanya was no longer the shy filly she had adopted, just as Bismuth was no longer the shy kid she once was. Now that Bismuth was training to become a Saint, both of them had to become stronger, and they would do this together.

“Tanya, you are the last thing I have to remember my mother.” Bismuth whispered. “We’re going to be together forever.”

Bismuth once again closed her eyes, before opening them to find herself in her 16-year-old body. She approached the grave and gently placed the flowers.

“Tanya… I don’t feel like I just lost a pet… I feel like… it’s like a part of me is gone…” Bismuth whispered, tears in her eyes as she looked over the grave of her fallen friend. “I would do anything to bring you back…”

“Anything?” Bismuth heard a booming voice, before she looked up to see a large shadow had formed above her.

“Who are you?” Bismuth asked.

“I am Hypnos, God of Sleep.” The shadow declared. “You said you’d do anything to bring back this horse?”

“You can bring her back?” Bismuth asked. “Please! I’ll do anything! Just bring Tanya back!”

“I will bring her back to life, but you must swear that from now on you will fight not for Athena, but for me.” Hypnos declared, his commanding voice echoing through the field. “You will become my warrior and do whatever I say.”

“I will! I swear!” Bismuth promised. “Just bring her back!”

“Very well. It will be done.” Hypnos declared, before he disappeared on a flash. Bismuth looked down upon Tanya’s grave, before once again closing her eyes.

Bismuth opened her eyes and screamed in pain, as she laid on the hospital bed. Something strange was happening to her body. There was a bizarre tumor growing on her back. Something was also happening to the fingernails on her feet, which were growing inhumanly quickly.

“What is happening to me?” Bismuth asked, before she got up from the bed, the tumor on her back making her scream in agonizing pain. She looked down, and widened her eyes to see her feet and fingernails were changing shape, transforming into a pair of hooves. She yelled as she felt the tumor on her back growing, before looking back to see the tumor had transformed the entire lower half of her body into the body of a horse. Bismuth yelled in shock upon realizing that she was now a centaur. “I recognize this body! It is Tanya!”

Bismuth looked up, to see she was no longer in a hospital, but instead on that same grassy field, Hypnos towering over her.

“You did it! You brought Tanya back to life!” Bismuth whispered, tears coming out of her eyes and her lips forming a smile. “You took half of my body, but you created a miracle!”

“Now you must do as you promise and become my warrior, from today to the end of time.” Hypnos declared. Bismuth nodded, as Hypnos’ shadow vanished, being replaced by what looked like the Sagittarius Cloth, but instead of golden, it was dark like a Surplice. The Cloth jumped and placed itself around her centaur body, as the skies above went dark and all of the grass changed color and died, before she held onto her bow and arrow tightly. “I am Sagittarius Bismuth, and I live to serve Lord Hypnos!”

Bismuth heard the sound of footsteps, before she hid into the surrounding darkness, just as a short figure, wearing a cloak that completely covered their face and body, walked into the area.

“This is Bismuth’s dream…” The figure declared, the strong wind hitting their coat as they looked around. “What could have happened for this place to end up like this?”

The figure heard the sound of something moving through the air, and quickly reacted, grabbing a dark arrow in their hands, mere inches before it struck their face.

“This is the Sagittarius Golden Arrow. But it is entirely dark.” The figure commented as they looked at the object in their hands. Several black arrows flew from the darkness, which the figure was quick to deflect. Another arrow flew out of the darkness at light speed, which the figure just barely avoided, the arrow tearing a little piece of their cloak, to reveal the glow of a Gold Cloth. “Bismuth! What has happened within your dream to turn it into such a terrifying nightmare? Come out of the darkness and answer me!”

Several more arrows flew, which the figure avoided by leaping over it, back flipping in the air before perfectly landing on their feet.

“If that’s how you’ll be.” The figure declared, before reaching for their cloak and ripping it off, throwing it away to reveal their identity. She was a short and young woman with red hair in the shape of an afro.

“You are the Gold Saint who was trained in Jamiel.” Bismuth declared, as she came out of the darkness. “Aries Leggy. The youngest and most powerful among all twelve Gold Saints.”

Before Leggy could respond, Bismuth fired another arrow, which Leggy casually avoided by slightly moving her head.

“I don’t want to fight you, Bismuth, but you leave me no other choice.” Leggy commented, before she raised her hands, and what seemed to be golden stars appeared spinning around her arm. She lowered her arm pointing to Bismuth’s general direction, as the stars flew towards Bismuth while multiplying, creating a gigantic storm of golden shooting stars. “Feel the power capable of destroying the universe and reshaping it into something completely different! Stardust Revolution!”

The shooting stars struck Bismuth, creating a massive explosion of light. The light dissipated, to reveal Bismuth’s body had been completely obliterated. Leggy’s eyes widened, before she turned around to see an arrow flying towards her.

“Crystal Wall!” Leggy declared, as a giant wall that shined like crystal formed in front of her. The arrow struck the wall, before flying back towards Bismuth, who casually caught it in her hand. “You dodged my shooting stars just at the last second, to make it seem like you had been defeated so you could catch me by surprise.”

“You are clever. Maybe I shouldn’t have expected less from someone who was personally trained by Yellow Diamond.” Bismuth commented, as she prepared another arrow. “If two Gold Saints such as us were to fight, we would begin an event known as the Thousand Day War. We are so close in power that even if we were to fight for a thousand days, there would still be no winner.”

“I can see you’ve become a centaur, like the ones from the mythological era.” Leggy commented. “Does this have anything to do with why you’re in such pathetic shape?”

“Pathetic?” Bismuth asked, an offended tone in her voice. “This is the body of Tanya, who was brought back from the dead by Lord Hypnos, and for that I owe him my life. I will personally kill any who dares to stand in the way of Lord Hypnos!”

“You’re a fool.”

“What did you say?” Bismuth asked angrily.

“Even after all of these years, you still haven’t been able to move on.” Leggy declared, before pointing towards Bismuth and screaming in an accusatory tone “You still refuse to accept that she is gone, and this weakness is what allowed Hypnos to manipulate your memories. Those who have died can never return to life.”

“Shut your mouth!” Bismuth yelled, as she pulled another arrow. Leggy’s eyes widened in shock. The arrow was still golden, even though Bismuth’s Cloth was as dark as night, but this arrow glowed even brighter than any of Bismuth’s regular golden arrows.

“I can’t believe it! She is willing to use the ultimate Sagittarius arrow!” Leggy whispered in surprise. “The Arrow of the Goddess!”

“That’s right! This is the same arrow that was given by Athena herself to the very first Sagittarius Saint, back in the mythological era. The only thing that can stop this arrow is the power of an Olympian God.” Bismuth declared as she pulled her bow.

“Do not fire this arrow!” Leggy declared in a serious tone. “Athena ordered that this arrow should only be used as a last resort when there is no other option!”

“Athena cannot stop me.” Bismuth whispered, before she fired her arrow. “Arrow of the Goddess!”

The arrow flew towards Leggy, faster than either of the Gold Saints could react, about to strike the Aries Saint directly through the heart. Leggy stared at the arrow with a confused expression, as Bismuth’s eyes widened.

“The arrow stopped in midair?” Bismuth declared in surprise as she looked at the frozen arrow. “But the only way for this arrow to stop is with the power of a…”

The darkness surrounding them seemed to disappear, as the dark sky was filled with light and once again turned blue, and the grass beneath them began growing, until the field around them once again turned into the beautiful grassy field from Bismuth’s memories.

“A God!” Leggy declared, as a light gently floated down from the sky, landing right in front of Bismuth, before revealing the shape of a short and chubby white girl with blonde hair, who was holding a shining golden crosier. “It’s you…”

“My name is Sadie Miller.” She declared, in a gentle and slightly timid voice. “But I believe you know me as…”

“Athena!” Leggy yelled. “You shouldn’t be here! You’re putting yourself at risk!”

“It’s okay. I am where I am needed the most.” The human reincarnation of Athena explained with a smile, before she took the Arrow of the Goddess in her free hand and approached Bismuth. “Bismuth, they chose you to make a point. They want to prove that even you, the most loyal of all Saints, can fall… but I will not allow that.”

“It is… too late for me…” Bismuth whispered, as tears began flowing from her eyes.

“You are wrong. Look upon your own body, and free yourself from this illusion.” Sadie whispered. Bismuth slowly looked down, and her eyes widened as she realized she was not a centaur, nor was she wearing a Surplice. She was a human, wearing the Sagittarius Gold Cloth.

“Tanya is not part of your body. This was an illusion created by Hypnos.” Sadie explained, as Bismuth’s eyes widened, and the fake memories that had been planted in her mind began disappearing, allowing her to see her true memories.

Greece, Five years earlier:

“You will become my warrior and do whatever I say.”

Bismuth looked down to Tanya’s grave for a few moments, before crunching her fists and firing hundreds of arrows of Cosmo towards Hypnos.

“Infinity Break!” Bismuth declared, as Hypnos easily deflected all of her arrows. “Did you really think I would join you? I am a Saint of Athena, and this is what I’ll always be!”

“Disappointing.” Hypnos declared, before he pointed his hand towards Bismuth’s general direction, making her fall to the ground unconscious. “Your loyalty to Athena truly is what it’s ben build up to be. I can’t afford to let you take part in the incoming Holy War. I’ll kill you now.”

Hypnos prepared to attack, when he suddenly felt his body freezing. There was a strange aura surrounding Bismuth’s body, an aura that far surpassed the power of all Twelve Gold Saints combined.

“I can’t approach him… very well.” Hypnos whispered, before he turned around and began walking away. “I’ll make sure you die in the Holy War, Sagittarius Bismuth.”

World of Dreams, Current events:

“It was you who protect me that day. That aura was the Cosmo of Athena.” Bismuth whispered through her tears, as she fell to her knees. “They used my trauma of losing Tanya to control me.”

“Sagittarius Bismuth, most loyal among all Saints.” Sadie whispered, as she gently placed the Arrow of the Goddess in Bismuth’s hands. “It is time to wake up.”

Germany:

“Guardian’s Oracle!”

“Damn it!” Lapis yelled, as she grabbed Connie and leaped out of the way of the blast, just barely avoiding the massive explosion. “None of our attacks are having any effect!”

“Ugh! I can’t even see his attack coming!” Connie yelled as Lapis swiftly placed her on the ground. “Without Seventh Sense, I’m just slowing Lapis down!”

“Which one of you should I kill first?” Oneiros wondered. “Maybe I’ll just obliterate both at once.”

“I’m going to slice you until there is nothing left.” Lapis declared.

“You’re very stubborn. Must be a trait of you Saints. But don’t worry, I’ll annihilate you with my next attack.” Oneiros commented with a smile, before his expression changed into one of curiosity. “Hm? I felt someone leaving the World of Dreams…”

“He got distracted!” Lapis thought, as she leaped towards Oneiros. “Excalibur!”

Sanctuary, Greece:

“Pope, are you there?” Leggy asked as she entered the Temple.

“Aries. I ordered you to guard Athena as she hid in Star Hill.” Blue Diamond commented as the Gold Saint walked towards her and bowed. Blue Diamond realized two more figures entering the room.

“I can’t just hide anymore.” Sadie declared, as Bismuth closely followed her into the room.

“Athena?” Blue Diamond commented in surprise. “Sagittarius! You woke up!”

“I am sorry for worrying you all.” Bismuth explained, as she felt a sharp pain all over her body, making her fall to her knees.

“The wounds from your battles against Minos and Hades have still not healed.” Leggy warned as she got back up and turned to Bismuth, to see Sadie gently kneeled near the wounded Saint. “Your body spending so much time without a soul must also have done some serious harm. Your life is actually still in danger. Go back to bed.”

“N-no…” Bismuth whispered as she forced her body to get back up. “Lapis risked everything to save me… I can’t leave her when she needs me the most…”

Bismuth turned to Sadie, who nodded confidently, before the two began making their way towards the Temple of Athena.

Germany:

Lapis screamed in agony, as Oneiros’ Guardian’s Oracle struck her directly, sending her flying to the ground, parts of her skin and hair burning due to the violent heat of Oneiro’s Cosmo, as Lapis found herself unable to get up.

“Lapis!” Connie yelled as she tried to run towards the Gold Saint, only for Oneiros to wave his hand in her general direction, creating a shockwave that sent Connie flying away.

“Did you really think a quick distraction would have been enough to defeat me? Had it not been for this Gold Cloth protecting your body, you’d be ashes by now.” Oneiros asked as he towered over Lapis, who looked up at him in silence. “Even if Sagittarius managed to escape the World of Dreams, all I have to do is invade the Sanctuary again and take her back. Everything you’ve fought for today was in vain. Your death will mean nothing.”

“Even with the power of a Gold Saint, I am still not strong enough to surpass him.” Lapis thought, as she slowly closed her eyes. “Is it over?”

“Do you truly believe that?” Lapis heard a voice in her mind, as her eyes flung open. Lapis recognized the voice immediately.

“Bismuth!”

Sanctuary, Greece:

“Lapis, you are the only one who can defeat Oneiros. If you surrender right now, all hope will be lost.” Bismuth declared through telepathy, as she stood in front of the Temple of Athena, the highest point in the Sanctuary, and aimed the Arrow of the Goddess in the direction of Germany. “You put your life at risk to save me from the World of Dreams, and for that I am grateful. It is time for me to save you.”

Sadie gently approached Bismuth and touched the Arrow of the Goddess, the divine Cosmo of Athena surrounding the arrow, as Bismuth perfectly aimed.

“Arrow of the Goddess!” Bismuth declared as she fired the arrow, which flew through the sky like a shooting star, surpassing the speed of light.

Germany:

“Sharpen, my blade!” Lapis yelled from the top of her lungs, as she suddenly leaped from the ground, her sword of Cosmo glowing intensively.

“You still have the strength to move? Impressive.” Oneiros commented confidently, before he saw a golden light coming from the horizon, and his eyes widened in shock. “It can’t be!”

“Excalibur!” Lapis declared, as she struck the Arrow of the Goddess twice, cutting it into four pieces, which all continued flying and struck all four of Oneiros’ souls, making the God of Dream scream in pain.

“She struck us all at the same time!” Oneiros whispered weakly. “I can feel her Cosmo weakening now, but for just a second… I felt her Cosmo surpassing our own…”

Oneiros looked at Lapis, who fell to the ground unconscious.

“Forgive us… Lord Hypnos… we have failed you…” Oneiros whispered, before Athena’s Cosmos expanded from within the four souls, completely erasing Oneiros’ body from existence as he screamed.

World of Dreams:

“Hm?” Steven whispered, as he looked around, seeing cracks appearing in the air around him, as if the fabric of space itself was about to fall apart. Steven smiled. “Seems like there is no point in staying here anymore.”

Steven gently turned around, as a portal appeared in front of him. He crossed it, and the portal closed right before the World of Dreams collapsed and disappeared.

“What happened?” Daniel asked as he opened his eyes, before getting up to see they were back on that same forest. He turned to see Jeff and Patricia getting up, the two having just woken up themselves. “Where is Connie?”

Sanctuary, Greece:

“You’ve done it.” Leggy declared as she approached the Temple of Athena. Leggy heard the sound of heavy breathing coming from Bismuth, and her eyes widened as the Capricorn Saint suddenly fell face first to the ground.

Germany:

“Bismuth!” Lapis yelled, as she suddenly opened her eyes and got up, just as she felt the Cosmo of her friend beginning to weaken.

“What is going on?” Connie asked, as she laid on the ground nearby.

“I think I finally understood why you seek perfection, Lapis. In this life, we all have very important things that we fight to protect. Your dream is to wield the perfect blade, so that you can become the perfect protector, and never have to lose anyone ever again, even if the Gods themselves stand in your way.” Lapis heard Bismuth’s voice speaking through telepathy. Lapis felt her legs giving in, as she fell to her knees, tears flowing from her eyes. “This is the path you chose to take, and I hope you can find happiness through it. I’ll leave the rest to you.”

“B-Bismuth…” Lapis whispered. She felt the last flame of Bismuth’s Cosmo slowly disappearing, before she took in a deep breath and screamed from the top of her lungs. “BISMUTH!”

Sagittarius Bismuth, the most powerful among all twelve Gold Saints, has died.
