I might be doing some major edits to my Ari’Lore’s backstory. Her backstory is a little different outside of the game BG3 that I would use for DnD campaigns. She would still be a paladin. I wnat to make a story for her out side of the game itself. Along with giving more detailed backgrounds to other characters she knows.

Anyways,

The things I am thinking of updating to her backstory is mostly to the ending. I think I would have her Baldonim (her mentor) and Truehand had disappeared to a different dimension instead of “died”. It was ambiguous of what had happened either way.

Also, I have a better idea of the motivation that Truehand which is that he was enlisted to a war when he was 16. So that had wrecked his mind and he doesn’t want any more wars so he believed the best way would be to take control of the whole sword coast to “watch” over it.

Think of one of the bad endings to the game, I think it was the second one of rebuilding the city while under control? Truehand would be very close to actually choosing that ending for that sake.

Baldonim would sacrifice himself to become an a Illithid and save Orpheus to help Lae’zel. I dont think I can do a romance for him though. He is that type of guy.

Monsters. Cruelty, caution, and regarding one as a creature beyond reasonable thought is tempering in its own right. But if you keep a leash at the right length, perhaps the massecre won't reach you. One can hope.

Idols. Pretty face, pretty name, pretty hands around their shoulders and throat. There to seduce, manipulate, force any feeling to come to the surface and twist it to their favor. Any genuinity stays locked behind the guilded cage that surrounds their pretty little heart

Trophies. Status and wealth and the traditions that keep someone at their heels, on their knees, to display and serve and decorate one's ballroom.

Sacrifices. Drenched in honorable clothes, prepared and adored and cleansed. The gift of hope at the cost of one's life. Is it taken with no fight? How can you escape the ropes you were born in?

How easily does Ari’Lore trust?

I’ll try my best to describe how Ari’Lore trusts people by using part of the game’s story.

So first off, I made her proficient in insight so she is pretty intuitive and most of the time can tell if someone is lying to her.

She didn’t mind that some of her companions kept things from her

Now, I will use examples of two/three of the companions stories.

( you can ask me about the other companions if you want more details )

The first one would be part of Karlachs story and some of Wylls. Its right before you meet her and that being speaking the fake Paladins of Tyr first.

Ari’Lore had asked the tiefling specific dialogue “Are you sure she isn’t just a tiefling? I have been called a devil before.”. The next question being “where she was”.

Anderes: “She ran towards the river when she saw we were merly wounded - not dead…”

Ari’Lore wondered why, from what he told Ari, Karlach wouldn’t have killed them instead of letting them go. Because it contradicts what he said about Karlach, that she was like killing innocent refugees without mercy.

This made Ari’Lore suspicious of what this paladin was telling her but felt she needed to see Karlach before making a choice. She ended the dialogue with “I’ll think about it” about hunting Karlach for them.

As it ended up, Karlach is innocent in this situation and the Paladins are serving under Zariel. This made Ari’Lore so angry, not the just for the fact they were lying, but that were trying to get her to do their dirty work for Zariel for whatever ulterior motives they were getting out of it.

Now for Wyll

Ari was a bit upset with Wyll, but understood that he was being given false information by his patron. Ari’Lore did still end up trusting him after he defended Karlach from Mizora. And took his word for it that he was not able to speak about the details of making a pact with a devil. His actions speak for themselves, that he is a good person.

Now for Astarion and the camp event of the bite scene. This part will be a bit longer than the previous example.

But before that let’s start out with a few things…like when they first met

She did let go the fact he held a knife to her neck and started demanding answers. She could tell he was terrified and not doing this out of malice. Even though it took their tadpoles to link, she was able to talk him down without hurting him. He did apologize so its fine and understood Ari was a victim too.

He also did seem a little…odd. Like when he asked how she’d prefer to go if she started transforming, but then figured given their situation, it’s fair to ask that.

Now onto the bite scene

Ari’Lore was already exhausted from the day, and she wasn’t happy waking up with whatever the hells Astarion was doing leaning over her. She was trying to keep her calm to give him a chance to give an explanation because the way it looked wasn’t good.

He admitted he was a needing blood - and it clicked that he was a vampire. His body language was telling her he was not going to attack her and he was in a defensive posture.

She then figured that he drank the boar dry that was left infront of the bridge. He explained he only feeds on animals- even though he included Kobolds but she was going to ignore that.

It was to the point where Astarion had used to the tadpole to let Ari’Lore see a little within his mind, she had stopped being mad. She decided to believe what he was telling her is true.

After he asked to have a small drink of her blood, she had to think for a moment to think.

Ari’Lore decided to trust him let him drink her blood without threatening him. She succeeded on the first persuasion check to tell him to stop, which helps with the story situation, that he proved that he wouldn’t drink all her blood.

Next morning, they talked about how he should eat, and they agreed on “no innocents”. To her, he seemed to be more honest compared to before the camp event.

I did like how Huntress Wizards eyes looked so I used theat style and I suppose the Farmworld Ooo style too

She was her parents’ only child who didn’t die in a miscarriage. Her father was 36 and her mom was 34 when she was born.

Family:

Father: Kyron Montalena

was a retired sailor to a longshoreman to stay closer to his love Lilspira, and their future daughter. Ari shared the same skin and hair color as him and had freckles just like him. He would take his family out to the park every so often and sometimes get a treat. He would read stories to Ari every night and even reread the books that she loved. He was killed when he was 44 years old, when Ari was eight. Her mother suspected it was Bhaal cultists because of the horrific state her father was killed, that he was missing a hand.

Mother: Lilspira Montalena

A bookstore owner in the Brampton district, that held the Montalens’s home on the upper floor. She was an intelligent person who loved to sing. Ahe lived in heapside before meeting Kyron, and they decided to make her dreams come true of owning her own store. She was a reading tutor to children and adults, as she taught Ari how to read as well.

Her and Ari found comfort in each other as they went through the grief of losing Kyron. For the first year, they had slept in the same bed as a way to comfort eachother, Ari’Lore did it more for her mom so she wouldn't do anything drastic, and Lilspira needed it to remeber she had a daughter she could still care for. Ari started to sell newspapers to help her mother with finances, as a small way to help, even as little as it was. She started to become sick and knew it was going to get worse. And she knew she had to give her daughter up. She couldn't give her up to her friends from Baldur’s Gate because they were to couldn’t afford to feed another mouth, and she didn’t want to let Ari be alone in the orphanage. She decided to give her up to friends who lived in Asbravn, a small town far outside of Baldurs Gate. She died when she was 46, when Ari was twelve.

Foster Parents: Oswin and Tilly Clovermouse: An elderly Halfling couple from Asbravn. They were old friends and pen pals to Ari’Lore’s parents. They had their own café and bakery, and they did have kids of their own, they were already adults when Ari met them. Oswin and Tilly started taking care of Ari weeks before her mother succumbed to her sickness.

Birthplace: Baldur’s Gate, Lower city, Brampton District

Job: Difficult to have a definite name for her job, since she mostly traveled around the land helping people. And the most she would ask for in return would be a place to sleep and a simple meal, like a nice bowl of gruel.

Phobias: Giant sea krakens (since it’s in game) and centipedes freak Ari’Lore out. If she came across a giant centipede she’d faint. Also, porcelain dolls mildly creep her out.

Guilty Pleasures: drinking, taking baths with fancy soaps, and dancing even if she isn’t good at it

And maybe a little bit of smoking…she prefers hookah.

Hobbies: She likes to read books, cook, practice sword fighting techniques, and obviously - adventuring.

Oh boy, good question

I would say one of the most traumatic experiences Ari’Lore had would be the day her other teammates and her mentor was killed. She got arm thrown out of socket and fractured, and she was nearly strangled to death. And seeing other people ahe was close with being killed wrecked her.
