Fate

When I was young, I believed in fate,

I went on a date.

It all changed after that,

I learned that life was not candy and hat,

I learned that people were not so great,

That’s what happened when I learned about fate.

I once had a dream, to become a math teacher,

It wasn’t a big deal, no astronaut or preacher.

I once had a dream, to beat fate and win life,

I once was down bad and broken with strife.

I once knew about God and I think he went to a better land,

I once knew about the Lord and with me he did stand.

I once had faith in people and mythical things,

I once had people on my back and lovers with wings.

I once had people who cared and I was so young and full of love,

I once loved animals, all the birds and dove.

I once talked to people about what I wanted from life,

I once thought I’d be happy, child and wife.

I once knew about people in the world and about,

I once was happy and had so little gout.

I once drank the water that came out of the spout,

I once went through life even through drought.

I once went to Japan, not really but in my mind,

I once went to China, not really but I did find.

I once went to Russia and found some hope,

I once went to Greece and found out I was a dope.

I once went to Yemen and learned about heaven,

I once went to Uganda, and met a girl named Fonda.

I once went to Belize, and watched a magical show,

I once went to Canada and ran in the snow.

I once went to Mexico, and saw giant wave,

I once went to Jamaica and was the star of the stage.

I once went to Cuba, and saw a fight, I got a punch,

I once went to Paris, and I had a nice lunch.

I once went to Kenya and learned the past well,

I once went back to my house, and it was nothing but hell.
