Today I cried a little bit because I remembered that when Beethoven conducted his ninth symphony for the first time he got a standing ovation and one of the sopranos had to turn him around to see the audience.

“I did see Dustin Hoffman’s version of Hook, I thought I would do it… Taller. The thing is that, you know, I’ve seen various Hooks before and they’re always clowns, they’re always buffoons because ‘he’s not a real threat.’ And J.M Barrie’s Captain Hook is a really -dangerous- guy. And he’s dangerous ‘cause he’s real. He’s cornered. And he’s a wounded animal. He’s in pain all the time from his stump. So, if he suffers other people are going to suffer even more.”

Jason Isaacs on Captain Hook [source]

And that is why I think Jason Isaacs is the best Captain Hook. He plays Hook according to the way J.M Barrie intended. And he does a darn good job at it, too.

Also, he’s ridiculously attractive- as Captain Hook was meant to be.
Not that it’s at all important, of course. *shifty eyes*
(via oldrowley)
Oh he’s lovely, and good, and I love the video he made of the behind-the-scenes stuff. I just love him all over!

I think it’s important to have villains who are both nice and human.
Especially nice. Polite. Empathetic. Thoughtful.
Because none of those traits translate directly to good. And a lot of them are easy shields against the description ‘bad’.
