Each planet's favorite drink after water, coffee, or tea. I had a lot of fun considering what differences there would be.

Eshenali float is kind of based on this type of juice. It's chewy instead of fizzy.

Similarly, I took some cues from orbitz for Bubbly.

On modern day Laranth, specific types of cacti are cultivated specifically to be drunk from, so it's not uncommon to buy a cactus and just stick a straw in it. Otherwise, you can get it in a glass bottle (reusable!)

Goo Pack is consumed by pinching the jelly in one's beak and letting it dissolve in the mouth. It comes in sweet and savory flavors.

Sweetwater is also semi-solid as it's meant for consumption underwater. It can be sipped through a straw like a thick milkshake, though. The most popular brand shapes its packages like fish!

Sucralites go crazy with shimmer. It's not too carbonated but it WILL be full of edible glitter and confetti. And sugar.

Nectar is consumed 2 main ways: mixed into hot water or melted over ice, depending on the weather. You can also pour it into a glass over ice + add water, but this isn't as common.

I had to design some letter systems from scratch here; it was fun! I also forgot / lost my original Santornan alphabet so I guessed.

OLD ART REDRAW

I decided to redraw a page from my old webcomic, FunLand, to test my skills a little and see what a FunLand reboot would really look like. This was a fun challenge; detailed breakdown of the changes I made below.

My notes in no particular order:

I kept the page composition mostly the same to try to maintain the "redraw" of it all. However, I changed the direction Ki and Liberty are walking in the top 4 panels so that they follow the way you'd read.

I also added shadows to help indicate the time of day. Back then I loved drawing skies, but I think the shadows help a lot.

I also made Ki and Liberty's silhouettes bigger and easier to parse. Less scribbly, too. I tried to telegraph their actions a bit more clearly too (Libby runs out of steam after a few hours because she isn't used to walking all day like Ki)

You might have noticed my "shape language" is overall much rounder. Art style evolves a lot over 11 years!

Speaking of art evolution, I decided to make Liberty noticably taller and Ki noticably chunkier. I want them to have more differing body types. I also gave Liberty full lips, which I hadn't done in the original for "style reasons."

I also chose more saturated colors for this page. I understand why I had muted tones before, but I like the way this looks more and find it easier to "read."

I pulled closer to Liberty's face in panel 7 to give her more of a reaction shot, and added a little extra detail to support it.

I added more signs of wear and tear for the FunLand gates, partially because Gorn and partially because I wanted it to be more obvious that it's not abandoned, it's actively an evil place.

I added more emphasis on shadows in general to try to give more dimension and a sense of scale. However, I made Ki and Liberty bigger in comparison to the gates, partially because I think I didn't know what I was doing before.

I still didn't draw whatever they carried the food in. They could be carrying food in their pockets, I don't know.

I kept Pleiades (the little animal) in for the redraw but if I were to reboot FunLand, I'd probably cut him out. He serves no purpose and sucks to draw. Plus he's a Momo expy.

I went on a little vacation to visit some wineries + cheese...eries... And I made this joke at pretty much every place we visited. (Referring to the wheelchair! No drunk driving occurred on this trip!)

While I work on other things, here's something I made a couple months ago (?) when I was playing a really bad $1 switch game about bento boxes.

It's a Sucralite lunch! Complete with fruit flavored cigarettes and a floral soda.

Was thinking about this and went ahead and made a chart of what albinism and melanism looks like for each species! [Kokoro disqualified due to lack of skin.] I may update this in the future with other atypical colorations (vitiligo, chimerism, uncommon markings, etc) but for now, take this!

Some explanation/exploration under a readmore because, you guessed it, it's kinda long!

Notes:

- it's common for albino Santornans to have big, blotchy markings, which are also blue. It's also common for them to be immunocompromised and to have vision issues.

- albino Laranthians are very rare because they usually die in infancy/early childhood due to being easy for predators to spot. The same tends not to be true of melanistic Laranthians.

- interestingly, both pure-white and pure-black are otherwise naturally occurring phenotypes for Zairs. The way to tell the difference between them is albino Zairs have teal eyes rather than black and have no markings at all. Similarly, melanistic Zairs are "black-on-black" and thus missing markings. Albino Zair fur is also thinner than regular white fur.

- albino Sucralites have milky white, holographic eyes due to their blood. Melanistic Sucralites have black fur; their eyes are a dark version of what color they "would" have been and are often almost opaque.

- Albino Lunestrians can easily be distinguished from Abyssal Lunestrians (that is, Lunestrians ancestrally/ethnically from the bottom of the ocean, with a phenotype of very light green skin and straight white hair) by their pigmentless skin allowing their purple blood to show through. The tips of their antennae are usually pure white. Melanistic Lunestrians are a dark green/teal with black hair (which is otherwise not naturally occurring).

- Atraxans and Eshenali look fairly similar here because both have scales with red blood beneath, both presenting as a very pale pink or white in some spots. Albino Atraxans have white or even translucent feathers.

- only melanistic Eshenali and Atraxans will have pure black eyes. Eshenali can possibly have pink eyes normally.
