sam and bucky are in a situation. a bad one. one that neither of them are sure they'll make it out of. there's so much gunfire that sam's ears hurt, but bucky isn't paying attention to any of his own physical pain. all he feels is desperation.
he has to get sam out of here alive. no matter what. so he falls back on what he knows. what he'd done for years.
he grabs sam with his flesh arm and marches forward, practically dragging sam behind him, angled just right so he's out of harms way. bucky clears the path, unthinking about who is in his way or how much damage he's doing to them. it doesn't matter. it's them or sam.
sam, who is shouting at bucky but can't do much more than hold up his shield defensively. bucky's barely listening. it doesn't matter what sam's saying, anyway. bucky's going to get him out.
