So, in SPN 13.03, Missouri has a vision of her own death and rather than try to do something to avoid it, she faces it so Dean and Jody will go straight to saving Patience.

Wraith: Well then, I guess it’s time to, you know… Scream. Missouri: No, there’ll be none of that. I’ve seen how this turns out. I run, you catch me, I die. I stay, I die. But this way my people, they’re going to murder your ass.

In SPN 15.03, Rowena uses her prophesied death at Sam's hands to power the spell needed to close the fracture leading to Hell.

Rowena: Yes, Samuel. To perform this spell, I have to die. And it has to be you that kills me. (...) I wish there were [another way]… I do. I don't care about anything enough to take my own life. Not you, your brother… not even the world. But I believe in prophecy. I believe in magic. And I'm here, and you're here, and everything we need to end this right is in our hands.

And in SPN 13.10, Patience has a vision of Jody cradling Claire's body to her, and hauls ass to warn them about Claire's death.

Only, her vision was only a fragment of what happened... at the end of the episode Kaia's dead, and Jody's holding Claire to console her.

Plus, of course, Castiel weaponizing the deal he made with The Empty, saving Dean's life in SPN 15x18. He knew it would happen, the entity wanted him to make him suffer by taking him when he'd forgotten, when he was truly happy - and instead, he chose. He had agency over the moment. He used it to Become, instead of fading away.

All 4 were written by Berens. I'm sure that has nothing to do with anything at all.

Anyway, might be interesting to keep this all in mind for The Winchesters, I'm just sayin'.

Two of the biggest burdens Buffy had, the two things that truly kept her trapped, that doomed her to a life of endless pain and ultimately death…was her being the only chosen one and the Hellmouth. She couldn’t escape her calling, and she couldn’t leave the Hellmouth. But then came the scythe…the Slayer’s scythe that is the reason they could awake all the other slayers. The reason Buffy is truly no longer the only chosen one. No longer alone in her fight. And she says she was able to get it because Spike gave her the strength to go claim it. Because he helped her. Because he believed in her. And then there’s the Hellmouth, the Hellmouth that Spike destroyed, that he closed. That he stood on top of refused to leave until the job was done, even at the cost of his life.

ITS YOUR WORLD UP THERE. NOW GO!

Don’t you see? Don’t you get it? Buffy’s free. Buffy’s not trapped anymore. All the responsibility isn’t solely on her anymore. She can live her life and not have to endlessly guard the gates of hell. She can live in the world now. Go and see the world and what it has to offer.
