Now we know that Joven likes pumpkin spice lattes, which makes sense given that he loves Halloween and all that.

This was an Instagram story made on the 2nd of November 2016 (ty @smosherindahouse for telling me about it) and was only available for 24 hours. Now it’s avilable forever.

I only made this tumblr post, you know, 24 days late. But I did post the above YouTube video on my YouTube channel, Stelia22, on the of release, so that’s something.

I only squealed, you know, 50 million times when this happened. So soon after Sohinki and Joven admitted that they had held hands together before too! It also only inspired me to, you know, make another 2016 Jovinki compilations vid, even though the moments in THAT video are from way too many months ago (https://youtu.be/FGO8ZQ3_kOU).

Poor Sohinki got rejected right at the end though. Still, Wes shaking his head as though they were docking right in front of him (see Pretty Pretty Princesses (What’re Those!?) from 4:19-4:29, or alternatively said Jovinki compilations vid at 6:57-7:37 for full context of “Docking”) was absolutely hilarious. Also, #Jovinki, because this is definitely the second time (at least!) that they’ve held or clasped hands together on camera, which, if I remember correctly, is more than anybody else has ever done before. Like, ever.

This weekend I was told a story which, although I’m kind of ashamed to admit it, because holy shit is it ever obvious, is kind of blowing my mind.

A friend of a friend won a free consultation with Clinton Kelly of What Not To Wear, and she was very excited, because she has a plus-size body, and wanted some tips on how to make the most of her wardrobe in a fashion culture which deliberately puts her body at a disadvantage.

Her first question for him was this: how do celebrities make a plain white t-shirt and a pair of weekend jeans look chic?  She always assumed it was because so many celebrities have, by nature or by design, very slender frames, and because they can afford very expensive clothing.  But when she watched What Not To Wear, she noticed that women of all sizes ended up in cute clothes that really fit their bodies and looked great.  She had tried to apply some guidelines from the show into her own wardrobe, but with only mixed success.  So - what gives?

His answer was that everything you will ever see on a celebrity’s body, including their outfits when they’re out and about and they just get caught by a paparazzo, has been tailored, and the same goes for everything on What Not To Wear.  Jeans, blazers, dresses - everything right down to plain t-shirts and camisoles.  He pointed out that historically, up until the last few generations, the vast majority of people either made their own clothing or had their clothing made by tailors and seamstresses.  You had your clothing made to accommodate the measurements of your individual body, and then you moved the fuck on.  Nothing on the show or in People magazine is off the rack and unaltered.  He said that what they do is ignore the actual size numbers on the tags, find something that fits an individual’s widest place, and then have it completely altered to fit.  That’s how celebrities have jeans that magically fit them all over, and the rest of us chumps can’t ever find a pair that doesn’t gape here or ride up or slouch down or have about four yards of extra fabric here and there.

I knew that having dresses and blazers altered was probably something they were doing, but to me, having alterations done generally means having my jeans hemmed and then simply living with the fact that I will always be adjusting my clothing while I’m wearing it because I have curves from here to ya-ya, some things don’t fit right, and the world is just unfair that way.  I didn’t think that having everything tailored was something that people did. 

It’s so obvious, I can’t believe I didn’t know this.  But no one ever told me.  I was told about bikini season and dieting and targeting your “problem areas” and avoiding horizontal stripes.  No one told me that Jennifer Aniston is out there wearing a bigger size of Ralph Lauren t-shirt and having it altered to fit her.

I sat there after I was told this story, and I really thought about how hard I have worked not to care about the number or the letter on the tag of my clothes, how hard I have tried to just love my body the way it is, and where I’ve succeeded and failed.  I thought about all the times I’ve stood in a fitting room and stared up at the lights and bit my lip so hard it bled, just to keep myself from crying about how nothing fits the way it’s supposed to.  No one told me that it wasn’t supposed to.  I guess I just didn’t know.  I was too busy thinking that I was the one that didn’t fit.

I thought about that, and about all the other girls and women out there whose proportions are “wrong,” who can’t find a good pair of work trousers, who can’t fill a sweater, who feel excluded and freakish and sad and frustrated because they have to go up a size, when really the size doesn’t mean anything and it never, ever did, and this is just another bullshit thing thrown in your path to make you feel shitty about yourself.

I thought about all of that, and then I thought that in elementary school, there should be a class for girls where they sit you down and tell you this stuff before you waste years of your life feeling like someone put you together wrong.

So, I have to take that and sit with it for a while.  But in the meantime, I thought perhaps I should post this, because maybe my friend, her friend, and I are the only clueless people who did not realise this, but maybe we’re not.  Maybe some of you have tried to embrace the arbitrary size you are, but still couldn’t find a cute pair of jeans, and didn’t know why.

Joven fell silent for Sohinki so that Sohinki could tell the joke resulting in the very awkward hug Joven gives him in the first picture (seriously, these guys are kings in the art of awkward hugs. That’s some crazy both contortions Joven’s got going on, and let’s not forget the very awkward hug Sohinki gave Joven during Christmas in July).

In the bottom picture, Sohinki actually let out a small chuckle afterwards. He sounded really surprised at the physical affection. I was too: this was only 10 minutes after Joven smacked Sohinki’s hand away during Sohinki’s hand-holding-attempt. Also because Joven doesn’t normally do stuff like that with Sohinki. Flitz and Wes definitely, but with Sohinki? Not nearly as much. Maybe Joven picked up that Sohinki’s more open to physical affection so he’s tapped into that in his own time, or maybe my mind’s just spinning right now and I’m too busy squealing over their cuteness.

You read some scenarios in fanfiction and you can’t believe that something like that could or would actually happen in canon (or maybe I’m just a sceptic). Like, for instance, stories about Person A comforting person B on a plane by - well, I’ll let you guys watch the video (you can watch it here , go to 3:43). Because today (or rather 11 days ago), that became a reality for #Jovinki. Or rather, it’s the day we knew that it had become a reality at some point in their lives. I squealed so loudly my mum thought something really bad was happening to me. But it wasn’t: this #Jovinki moment was something that was once again well beyond my own dreams of happening. This is a fantastic era of Jovinki to be in and I’m loving every second of it. Looking forward to see how else they surprise us next.

Also, Flitz and Wes were all over it too, just like they (and Mari) were here during the punishment for Escape the Slaughterhouse Game Bang. Joven may have denied it after Sohinki initially told his story, but at 5:55 he actually does admit that it happened. So yay!

Also I’m apparently expected to write a fanfic about this. Which I will gladly do (follow me on Wattpad @Stelia22 if you haven’t already). As soon as I research planes.

8 seconds of glorious awkwardness in hugging: a guide by Joven and Sohinki =D

All of the hugs were so adorable! Really shows how much they genuinely love each other. I agree that Joven and Sohinki’s hug was super duper cute. And adorably awkward. It also lasted 7-8 seconds =D

Definitely not a useless rant. I think you get to the heart of the fear of overthinking ships quite well and relate it to current situations at hand. It’s definitely applicable to any fandom and/or pairing. But like you’ve said, the Jovinki/SG situation is just a little more complicated than most others. Good memory is VITAL, come to think of it (or having entire folders in your bookmarks tab dedicated to them like I do). Not just that: you also need an over-analytical mind able to make links at the drop of a hat. Jovinki also has a long learning period, a strong contrast to most popular pairings in life (to anyone who doesn’t already know and is reading this: it took me nearly a YEAR of trawling through SG vids to even get an IDEA of what Jovinki is like). Their statistics during the early part of Smosh Games are heavily against them (I’m still discovering just how heavy it really was). Top that off with easy-for-”casuals”-to-misinterpret-it-as-them-hating-each-other and you have a recipe for obscureness that is pretty much unmatched.

But I actually found a comment saying that they forgive Sohinki for the Mr Platinum thing and that Sohinki really does love Joven. So that’s a plus =).

I feel like I inhale the same chemicals and wonder whether I’m delusional too. But what I find helpful is rewatching the moment and whether I would react in the same (shippy) way if that moment happened between a pairing I didn’t ship. May or may not work for you (or anyone else who reads this) but it’s food for though.

So do I wonder whether I’m going overboard? Absolutely. Do I do it anyway? Absolutely. Because...I think secretly, all of us go overboard with shipping in one way or another. And we all find happiness in it one way or another. Of course, whether we’re open about it and the happiness it causes us (eg. YT comments, writing, vids, etc.) or not (keep everything in your head like I did for a year) is a completely different story.

Obviously, just by looking at my feed. You can see I ship Jovinki like it’s my everything. This fandom, this ship has actually made me happy. Let me find happiness. And to be honest. I realized my observation skills have been stronger because of this fandom. For example. A good friend of mine @stelia22, we would discuss and may or may not over analyze Smosh Games videos. Like we write stories, metas, theories. So many things. And I love doing it so much.

But I’m have a fear. Because the I feel like I’m being so biased on things to the point where I look like a delusional idiot who sees things people don’t. Like especially in recent videos. SgA videos to be specific, me and Stelia can find so many Jovinki moments. But I then go to the comments. They either bash that Joven hates Sohinki or Sohinki hates Joven. And like to be honest. I do ship Marhinki, as a brother-sister relationship.

For example, in Christmas in July (Bonus Vlog) on the SgA channel. Joven says he HATES gifts, yet he loved the gift Sohinki gave him, Sohinki hugged him, people pinpointed that Joven doesn’t like hugging, and rejected Sohinki’s hug. Then people ship Weshire because Joven was the one who hugged Wes. But did you notice? In the What To Look For In 2016. JOVEN WAS THE ONE WHO HUGGED SOHINKI!

Anyway, back to the Christmas in July one. Mari is Sohinki’s secret santa. Shipper are going insane. And Mari said, “That’s because I’m trying to make you gay!” This might be interpreted that maybe Mari has a boyfriend and maybe is letting Sohinki down easily. Or, Mari sounds like a big sister teasing her little brother.

I don’t know what I’m saying anymore. I’m all over the place. But maybe I can sum it up.

The fandom/ship I’m a part of is complicated. Unlike other ships, like Stelia said. Its hard to find, but you just have to scratch the surface, dig a little deeper, have a good memory (Because there are a lot of reprises and recurring moments). And I always want to yell at the comments, saying “WHY CAN’T YOU SEE WHAT I/WE SEE?!” but then I think, maybe I’m the insane one, maybe I scratched a bit too deep, to the point where I inhaled the chemicals inside the soil while digging for gold and I get poisoned and get delusional. And I see things that aren’t even there in the first place. And then I start to think, is being insane a good thing? Having crazy theories a good things? Because there is this saying “It’s something so twisted, insane, absurd thing in the world, but it might work.” But hey, that’s just a rant. A USELESS RANT! Mate, I started shipping Jovinki in the middle of 2014 - over a year before this happened.

And a few weeks earlier, Joven posted the bottom picture on his Instagram.

Interesting pic from Sohinki’s Instagram, don’t you think? This would have been taken May 2015, which is around when Joven’s birthday was.

Sohinki legitimately called Joven “Lil Joshy“. Here’s hoping that he’ll call him that again one day! Also, that makes me wonder whether Sohinki made that cake for him. And now I’m hoping that Sohinki will film a birthday surprise for Joven like Joven did for him.
