“ hey , ” said back . chocolate hues moving from phone's bright screen to look at them . shifting back in her seat while a big smile opened when she saw the other . she already had this dance one to many times with stevie , pretending being like nature when it came to them . stevie was sweet , too good for her own good , too good to realize when someone was beyond fixing . “ is that so ? or did you remember these are my favorite type of apple and decided to treat me ? ” eyebrows raised , moira bit her lip to hide the teasing smile . “ of course i want one , c'mere . ” patting the seat next to her , inviting them to join .

"it's pretty nice of you to act like i can remember things," said stevie. "i don't even know what day it is today. i barely remember my own birthday." they were exaggerating, of course. hoping to brush it off, maybe even make moira giggle a little. they took out an apple and gave it to her, readily sitting down next to her.

nicki was heavily regretting signing up to help out with the music for the sandton social. she had been on the verge of finding someone to cover for her an hour before the event started. surely, the events committee would understand why she wouldn't want to be there. nevertheless, nicki showed and was finishing setting up. "another victim to false adverstising." she said, pointing to a small table of water bottles, cheeses, and crackers. "you'd think with all the donations sandton gets we'd be able to afford better snacks."

the disappointment was clear on stevie's face when their eyes landed on the snacks table. they were stunned silent for a moment, before saying, "ah... i'm so thirsty and hungry right now. i love a good cheese cracker with water combo!" they tried to look on the bright side. the part about them being sooo thirsty and hungry was true, anyway. hunger and thirst made even the plainest food and drinks taste so much better.

stevie knew that going to the sandton social would be risky business. but they didn't expect to get attacked. when the other person's arms wrap around them, an embarrassing, undignified squeal leaves them. they struggled in the other person's embrace, trying to break free. "just go take my wallet! take it, take it!" they said, fully assuming this was some kind of hold-up situation.

"hey." stevie's hands were shaking slightly. they often tried to avoid talking to people, yet here they were, making the first move to speak with moira. actively seeking her out. well, look, they just had to, okay? stevie recalled that moira seemed to care about jordan a lot, and hannah had been moira's roommate. surely, stevie thought, moira must be in need of some emotional support. deep down, they believed, she was a really sweet girl... though they knew that she probably wouldn't appreciate a pity-filled question. so instead of asking her how she was, they played it cool. "i stopped by a shop to get some snacks. thought to get some organic apples too 'cause they were selling them for really cheap. i think they're gonna go bad soon." they showed moira the apples, still fresh-looking and bright red. "you want one?"

normally, stevie would avoid any event with social in it. but the word refreshments in the flyers piqued their interest. any chance to get free or cheap food, they would grab. too bad they were struggling to find the refreshments in question. they let out a deep, heavy sigh, knowing they'd have to... well, socialize.they'd try to do as little of it as they could. they hesitated for a moment, before asking someone near them, "do you know where the snacks are?"

[ ruby cruz , nonbinary , they/them ] - it looks like stevie marino is late to class once again . how do they expect to get their degree in anthropology by skipping class ? it’s a wonder that the 22 year old made it to their sophomore year . then again , i heard that they were + observant which may give them a pass with professors , but they are also - timorous so maybe not . i heard they were blasting sugarcoat by natty before class . all i know is that they remind me of pale hands slipped inside denim pockets, a shoe crushing a plastic tiara beneath it, wide blue eyes absorbing as much detail as they can.

stevie comes from a pretty well-off family. they grew up as jordan's childhood friend. their mom was a pageant queen back in the day and wanted stevie to follow in their footsteps.

stevie participated in beauty pageants even as a child.

stevie had to act and look super femme when they were younger, which they absolutely hated. reference of what stevie looked like before rip:

instead of going straight to college, stevie took a few years off. in those years, they traveled, worked, reinvented themself. they came back looking the way they do now — a lot more androgynous, frumpy clothes.

i guess there wasn't much backlash from their peers, if only bc a lot of them couldn't even recognize stevie anymore.

that's pretty much stevie's goal. they have the opposite of main character syndrome. they have npc syndrome. their goal: no one perceives them, no one talks to them unless it's absolutely necessary ijbol

despite their antisocial nature, stevie has a heart of gold.
