At the beginning of last week, I did my first short and small road trip since I live in the USA. The very first road trip was a ¾ year ago Los Angeles - San Diego.

There are two videos about the road trip on Youtube (only in German). The first part can already be seen and the second part is visible on Wednesday morning (German time).  

I uploaded another video to my "private" Youtube channel. But it is only a small driving video from San Diego and shows downtown from different sides.

It is supposed to convey what I have learned to see and love every day. In the next time comes more of it.

This year is at 2.9 Labor day. This is celebrated all over the USA, takes place every year on the first Monday in September and is the same as May 1st in Germany = Labor Day.

There will certainly be many events, some museums lure to this day with free entry or heavily discounted tickets (at least here). Many Americans also use the day with their families. Soon I will tell you what experience I have gained. The next big event after Halloween is Thanksgiving on 28.11 = a kind of harvest thanksgiving.  I am looking forward to finally getting to know these celebrations. Now I start to plan the first visit to Germany, but it will be very small, I will not visit all the people, but only a very small selection.

Something else about the job offer. I pass on the contact data of the prospective customers because I am quasi only the mediator.

Answers to your questions

Currently, there is nothing new to report. I drive the day or night over for Lyft and enjoy the area. Every day I look forward to coming along the Pacific or into the "mountains". Downtown at night is also nice to look at. There are many great corners here where you don't know what you should have. From September 3rd I will be working in the German Preschool for 3 months. If I can still drive for Lyft, I'll have to find out. But I think that it will be very difficult, from the financial point of view, to make a profit.

I published a new video on my Youtube channel, with answers to your questions.

In the past, I have been asked questions here on the blog or on Youtube, among various videos. I go into these in detail. It's difficult to ask for answers to anonymous questions in the blog, so I prefer to go into it on Youtube or here in the blog in the future. I am happy to encourage emigrants, to support them and to be able to help with my experiences. I wish you a lot of fun and success with the adventure in your new home. (Video is only in German)

It is important to note that everything I write or say is based on experiences. It can be different for everyone. Everyone has a different starting position, perception and idea of everyone. It is, therefore, possible that some things do not coincide with one's own experiences.

Emigrating is and remains an adventure

In the last few weeks, a lot has happened that you could see in the videos 32 and 33 on my YouTube channel, and so I seldom found time to add anything to the blog. Emigrating is and remains an adventure, which I like very much. Straight lines are too boring for me, and I am happy to learn from mistakes.  But at the moment everything is going well again.

Three more weeks until the preschool starts.

I had only thought about coming to Germany, but I quickly got that out of my head, because I actually intended to do this in September. But as compensation, I will make a small road trip of 3 days. I have the car and the money for the trip too. For the trip I will make a video with the "Best off" of the trip. But before I go on a trip, I will be busy and work. There will also be a "Question-Answer" video on my YouTube channel where I will answer all the questions I've been asked in the blog or on YouTube. I thank you for your support and ask. I also feel a bit torn. On one page I would like to please as many people as possible, whereby it is my life and I don't have to please anyone with what I do and do. This also includes the topic of going to another state in order to be better off financially. But to be honest, I like it here and I don't do it because of the money. I don't care about that at all, but make sure that I can finance myself and that the fun remains with all that it does so far.

I also love to be independent, like now. I work, have no direct superior and can work when, where and how I want. I love to take a break somewhere and sometime as I want. In an office job I wouldn't have the freedom anymore. The concept doesn't work out quite as well with preschool, but I only have to work 5 hours a day, that's fine again and afterward, I'm free again if you understand what I mean.

Nevertheless, I will still look at other states, but not for financial reasons, but rather out of curiosity. I like the countryside which I could get to know here, through which driving.

Still, something to the Blog. Tumblr was sold to WordPress, what will happen in the future, I don't know yet. However, it may be that I have to move my blog. Since the blog and YouTube is and remains a "non-profit" project, I don't want to invest any money for it.

I will inform you here or on YouTube if I have to move my blog.

Heights and depths

it runs now to some extent with driving, there is already again the next problem.

By the check scam of last month, where I now with $200 in the minus with my current account, the credit institute closed me the bank account. That is now already good 2 weeks in such a way. Lyft tried to deposit my first earnings into my bank account, which didn't work. So it is not possible to balance the account in order to continue working with it. I had to react quickly and opened a new bank account with Chase at the beginning of this week. I immediately informed Lyft of the new bank details and received the earnings for the first two weeks. The problem now is that I now have to wait for the bank papers and the card that I can work with the account. This means that I can transfer money and withdraw it. I have already brought my credit card to the limit to be able to refuel. Normally you shouldn't do that if you only have one month. This doesn't have a good effect on the credit score, which you should build up here to rent apartments or buy cars, houses or other things later. The weather is still very fresh on the coast, but very good in the interior. I am currently looking for new accommodation with more privacy and fewer problems. What's new is that I'm applying for other jobs in IT and education ("back to the road" so to speak). The next two weeks I will tell you more about this in a new video.

Until then, I will continue to enjoy my time in California and try to go to the sea and watch the waves as often as I can. With all the frustration, annoyance or worry it's a place where you can let your soul dangle.

San Diego is becoming more and more sympathetic to me.

With time, where I drive around here, I like the city more and more, from the scenic aspect...

Yesterday I thought about making a video with all the hotpots you should have seen. By that, I don't mean the sights, but rather places where you have a good view of certain things, like beaches, cities or whole valleys. Where you can watch and enjoy the sunset. The question was whether I should move on to Florida or not? But I think with what I see here, I'd rather stay here. Only flat terrain would be too boring for me.

On the upper picture, you can see approximately how old the area around Del Mar, north of San Diego, is. A very interesting contemporary witness. You can see this when you walk on the beach to the south at the Pacific. I will definitely take a closer look at this area and record it in the video.

I'm doing relatively well, but I'm tired from time to time. But that's normal for the beginning. I still have to get used to driving, it's only the beginning of the second week. Since the summer holidays are here, it is difficult to get enough passengers in the morning. The day after tomorrow, the 4th is a holiday. I think I'll go into it soon and tell you how I felt about it. I will drive anyway.

I just make a video of what has been recorded on different days to report about them and that or what I see on the way, perhaps with a view of the "Hotspot" video. Let yourselves be surprised.

Expensive knowledge

Once again, everything comes out different from we thought. The job I thought I had turned out to be a scam and cost me well with all $150. I am now even more careful than before. But in the next video, I'll go into more detail and explain what happened (only in German).

My DL has now arrived, Juhu, but what to do with the good piece?

I have now forged a plan B for myself. I now try my luck in another state. It's stupid because of the Driver license, because now everything is double and triple and it causes additional costs again, which I definitely don't have, but maybe I have at least the possibility to earn money. Of course, I don't have money for the rent in June and July because of this scammer incident. Looks really hopeless at the moment. I have, since the expensive realization, sent out again quite a lot of applications, but mostly we know the answer already - no feedback on applications...

Everything different from expected

There's a lot of news... I'm fine, I'm still in San Diego and I didn't end up on the street. I will comment on the news in a video next week on Thursday. Until then, I know more if everything is really as it looks now. Until then, I wish you a nice weekend, enjoy the nice weather in Germany and the free time. The picture was taken with my drone, which I could finally fly again. You can find the "Best Off" of the video here on Youtube, for those who are interested in watching it. I am sorry if I have prepared one or the other care. That was not my intention and was not so planned. Sometimes life is very adventurous and it shows that not everything is safe or self-evident. After 3 month US, to back?

Now 3 months USA is over, I got to know a lot, love a lot and not like a lot. Well, since I still don't have a job, I have to pull the ripcord. Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford the rent this month and therefore I will have to fly back to Germany. I'm trying to get money for it in different ways, which I can pay back at the end of June. The blog here still goes on, because I plan to emigrate again at the end of the year. This time even better prepared than now. In Germany, it will be difficult, because I don't know how I will do it yet. Should I register again or not. Should I work as a freelancer, but should I have everything taxed via the USA? Or is there a problem if I register again in Germany for 6 months? Questions about questions. You want to do as little wrong as possible and pay as little as possible.

I can have the salary run through my girlfriend's bank account if there are problems with the transfer to the American bank account. It went a bit stupid because exactly in May, my mobile phone contract was canceled and my bank account was closed. Why so late have I already reported about it? But it has the advantage, that I could make my car driveable again and still until the end of the year so that I can drive around and sell afterward. So it remains exciting. Fact is now, that I should be to 01.06. From my accommodation out. In the next videos, I report how it happened to me. I think that I will make it summarizing. Also, the fail, for the time being, belongs to the emigration. Important is perhaps only that one does not give up, and continues to work on it.

I've been in the United States for two months now. In the middle of this week,    I will record a video and make among other things a summary of the planned and/or reached of the past month. That's the way it is at the end of every month. Thank you for the lively interest, criticism, and suggestions for changes and enlargements. The US Driver License

As already reported in the last video, I completed on April 22nd the first part for the American driver’s license. As in Germany, that was the theoretical part. The picture shows the current driving license with a passenger who has a valid American driver’s license. Here the driver License is called. When I applied for my driver’s license, I decided to add RealID to it. This means that the driver's license is also valid as ID and that I only need the DL for flights within the USA and no passport or green card. I still always take these with me. At https://infosandlinkstoemigrate.tumblr. (only in German this time)  com you can re-register or re-register your driving license (only in California). On May 15th the practical test will take place after which I will receive my driving license by post and can then officially drive a car. 

The picture shows the practical test, what the driving instructor has to fill out. The test is not from me so all Personal Information was removed. On the left, the bold print is obligatory to know to not fall through before driving. More on this probably in May. Job Technically it goes up and down. I get a lot of inquiries but mostly only as a freelancer. Handicap here is the English knowledge and the still missing driving license. I'm running out of money. I am currently living on the back burner and hope to get a job every day, despite my handicap. During this time I was shown a new possibility (thanks also for it) how to transfer money legally from Germany to foreign countries without great loss. Transferwise is the name. There is also a lot in the “Info and Link" section of the blog.

Every now and then with a short personal experience report. (Currently in German. The links are mostly from English pages except for the links from Facebook) And there is a new video of me on youtube (only in German) Check it out!

It's going slow

tomorrow, Friday, I'm starting on my first job. As I mentioned a month ago, there was a job as a mechanic at Lyft. Now I can work there tomorrow from 6:30 to 14:30. 4 days (from Friday to Monday) a week per 8 hours to mid-June. That's a start to securing my future for the next few months. I hope of course that everything goes well and that on Saturday you don't mean that I don't have to come back. The whole thing will take place in downtown (about 6.6mi from my accommodation). However, there will still be applications for IT, have some interested parties. With the job now, I have health insurance and pension insurance. That was very important to me because I didn't like to fight my way through all the insurance stuff (there's 1000th as with the banks). The foot's already in the door. I look for jobs on different platforms and providers like Linkedin, Monster, Indeed, etc. to name just a few. With some job offers Recruiting companies are behind it which have again bandwidth and pass the curriculum vitae on. Most of the time I registered and published my revised curriculum vitae. I'm now starting to write down the companies to me all so I can “not make available"; my traffic jams when I need them when I have the right job. Otherwise, I run the risk of still getting 100terte job offers(exaggerated) by mail and calls to freelance projects.

What's new: My Youtube videos will be rebuilt and redesigned. Some are related to topics and then may be slightly longer than the normal videos, which exceed 10 minutes. I'm currently creating an intro for it. The blog has been adapted for mobile devices (thanks to a friend here in San Diego for the hint) so that it looks like using a PC and the links can be seen at the end of the blog. Furthermore, a separate section with important data on emigration in abridged form will be added. The English blog version is up to date and the posts will be shorter in the future so you don't have to read so much. Maybe I'll split the entries by topic, like work, driver's license, apartment, and life. But I will try that a little bit and see if I get any feedback from the readers. The survey can still betake until the end of April. Only for those who haven't made it yet.

There is something new again

Post-Part I

There's some news to report. But let's just start where we left off. I sent on my private Facebook profile, personal contacts to the April Fool, where I claimed that I would break off the whole emigration adventure and come back again. In the last Youtube Video, I resolved the whole thing. The option to end the whole thing nevertheless only comes into question if I should not be able to gain an economic foothold. Although I would like to prevent this, even if some people would be very happy about a return, understandably. I reported in my last blog entry about the website and app “Meetup" and that I will test them. The service is free of charge if you don't form your own group or event or if you plan and hold it. I was now at the first mentioned “Event" called “GermanStammtisch" in a restaurant in SanDiego. There were nice people with different backgrounds, who can speak German or want to learn it. For me as “newbie", a chance to make contacts and to get the first experiences live from other emigrants. I found out a few things that might take me a little further in my career and possibly simplify my new life. I can recommend every immigrant or visitor for a certain time, this kind of community pages or apps, because it simplifies the former toa foreign area and you meet one or the other helpful like-minded person.

The experience reports of those who have already emigrated are, of course, based on their objective perception and do not have to agree with the same result and experience, since various factors play an influential role. I spontaneously registered for another group from the mentioned site. This one is about the English language. The group meets for just over an hour a week every Thursday in SD Towndown. A lecturer takes care of the whole matter and helps one with language difficulties. The focus of the group is to speak English and learn in a relaxed atmosphere.

There is a job fair in “San Diego"; where you have to register in advance. Who wants to know what the whole thing is called (Repeats itself monthly) writes me here briefly. You go there with your resume in print form and meet entrepreneurs from different professions. Which representatives of certain professions are on the spot and which positions are offered can be found on the organizer's website, but without further details on the vacancy, before registering for an audition. The procedure is similar to the one of holding an interview with the representative of the company for a certain field in which you are interested, comparing it well with a job interview, and giving a summary of the employer's representative is interested. Since you are not the only one who imagine yourself there, you learn at the end whether you are taken or not.
