I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind
#and then gets to live with someone who Loves her!!#instead of her parents!!#someone who shows her like unconditional love#god#matilda#thank queue king of sunnyvale

Did Nick ever regret bringing Ziggy back from the dead?
No <3
He's congenitally crazy for Satan, but no, he was sincere in his love for her to the degree that he was capable and he didn't want to live in a world without Ziggy. It wouldn't have worked if that wasn't true. And even when he threatened her life at the mall he instantly walked it back and tried to protect her. We can debate how genuine he is capable of being but I think he never regretted her being alive and around. She's his "one good thing" so to speak.

guy who is definitely not about to fall into a surprise midday nap with an aftermath worse than a hangover: it seems like a really good idea to lay in bed and get cozy under the blanket as part of my plan not to fall asleep. I do not know why.

love it when stories reverse the “love conquers all” trope. when love is what dooms the characters, as if to say if only they weren’t so attached, and they did not love, then maybe they would’ve won, while simultaneously saying that if this was true, and the character did not love, then they wouldn’t be human. they would be nothing more than a monster, and what kind of life is that? what’s the point in anything at all, if you love nothing?
