I always saw Gwyndolins character and backstory as never being one particular gender but being symbolic for transgenderism as a whole.

My only problem with transgender Gwyndolin deniers is not that they have to be trans per se but that many of them outright deny the almost collective transgender symbolism they represent. An implied intersexuality that can be interpreted in many different ways as well as that alienation (the fact that they are the only remaining deity with Anor Londo) that many transgender people possess is able to be such a comfort to many. However, these people will just excuse it with the lore itself rather than what it could reflect within reality. Gwyndolin having that relationship with Gwyn does disprove the transgender theory if you choose to interpret that way but it leads to an even larger gateway that many transgender, particularly children, have with their parents. That their real self is shut away, dismissed or repressed all together. Many people could say that Gwyndolins entire motif being that they an illusionist could create that harmful stereotype that many transgender people, mainly women, have. But I feel as though this would paint transgender people as a whole a shade far too niche, that they are liars about their identity when in reality the reason trans people often mask themselves in a way is due to fear. No, I don’t believe Gwyndolin made themself an illusion out of fear but it does have some connection in a way. Gwyndolins symbols of a more feminine biased androgyny are so strong I believe it is a slight factor within their design. Such as the short hair with the illusion of length with his veil. The dreaded dark sun that covers their face and despite their dress being graceful and gentle the metals that take up his accessories have that masculine bulk around them. Gwyndolins story changes rapidly depending on how you interpret it but even if you believe they are a cis male, their connection to the transgender existence and experience is undeniable.

people still think that Gywndolin was forcibly raised as a girl instead of accepting she’s just. You know. A transwoman.
