CHERIK WEEK DAY 1: REINCARNATION

Charlotte died three months ago. Erika sits idly before the disused chess set, numbed by unshifting grief. The cat's lithe little body intwines around her ankles.

The creature seemed simply to appear one day, and she refused to leave. She chirps, glass-blue eyes wide and gentle, and leaps onto the table, pawing at a white queen. Erika won't admit that she appreciates the company.

"It's funny," Erika says, her cheeks pink. "You remind me of her sometimes."

Erika is getting too old and too foolish. She swears that, for a moment, there's a glimmer of understanding on her soft face.

Hi! I love your soccer AU so much!! I was wondering what Charles' relationship with his step children looks like after the reunion in DC? Does he speak and see them at all, or only when he is with Erik? Do they consider him to be their dad? :)

AAAA thank you!! I wrote an epilogue here for all the silly billy nonsense these two get up to 10 years after the events in DC <3 Including what happens to all the kids as they grow up.

TL;DR - Charles sees his step-kids on holidays as he and Erik begin trying to co-parent more.

Charles and Erik see each other at least once a month "to catch up and play chess" (we all know that's not just what they're doing), so sometimes Charles will see the twins if they accompany Erik. He and Pietro reconnect and Wanda has a little more time to forgive Charles for everything.

Lorna goes off to college on a soccer scholarship pretty much immediately, so Charles sees less of her, but as a peace offering she sends Charles/Jean tickets to come see her pro games.

And yes, by the end of the epilogue, they're all on good terms with Charles - even Lorna calls him Dad sometimes :)

another western cherik au question. any specifics for their backstories? erik getting from germany to america or charles getting there etc. also. for oxford im not sure whether or not they even offered genetics courses though its probable charles could just. do his own research but the field was still in its infancy. however. this would make charles even more of a leader in his field. charles could get a psych degree from oxford at the time period though. with some of the first courses being offered in the 1870s. which would be funny. because early psychiatrist. they were something else !!!! okay infodump over sorry

HELLOOO sorry for such a late response on this! :3 So my friend actually came up with a whole backstory for Erik - he immigrates from Germany, marries Magda, and ends up owing money to one Sebastian Shaw. When he's not able to pay his debts, Shaw murders Magda and their child, you know, classic Erik angst. Erik eventually meets Emma Frost and ends up running with her gang. Since we're modeling it after Red Dead Redemption 2, Emma is basically the Dutch Van Der Linde and Erik is Arthur Morgan adjacent hahaha

Charles we have given less thought to - I think that's really interesting stuff!! We currently have him modeled after Albert Mason from the games, a wildlife photographer from the big city who has 0 survival skills. He meets Erik because he's trying to take some photographs of wolves and nearly gets eaten lol.

We imagine that Charles' father pressured him into becoming a doctor or something similar and he left home to pursue his art. But he's very sheltered given that he comes from a rich family. I really like the idea of him being an early psychiatrist bc you're right things were BUNK back then??? LOL. Basically 0 ethics omg. He'd be a lil pioneer in the field.
