#I love tv but reading was my first love lol#I would miss shows like 1899 and arcane but books...... books are BOOKS#I would probably also just stop watching tv altogether because aside from clone wars/star wars rebels I was never that interested in kid tv#¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all those posts that are like "why am i researching currency debasement in the 1860s for a fanfiction no one is going to care" are full of shit, i just DNFd a fic for being obviously incorrect about the history of plumbing
#somebody just kept using foil/saber as if they were interchangeable in a fanfic where the character was a master fencer#(i'm an epee so i don't really have a dog in this fight but i AM a pedant)#like if this were a fencer with Maybe One Hour of experience then it would actually be an interesting bit of characterization#but nobody with longer than a week's worth of fencing experience is going to use those words interchangeably#fanfiction#fanfic#fencing#if they really wanted to switch it up they would use the word 'weapon' or MAYBE the word 'rapier' if they were particularly geeky#they would PRIMARILY call it EITHER a foil OR a saber OR an epee though#(also the tips are not sharp for the love of god!! this is a SPORT!! your fencing character CANNOT FIGHT DEMONS WITH HER SABER!!!!)

It always pains me how much the girls would have accepted Rumi if she had just come out as a demon. Zoey's line, "Maybe they are nice demons?" alone is enough to prove this. They care about Rumi so deeply that it wouldn't have mattered. They love her enough that the first thought after the 'why do you have patterns' isn't 'get away', it's 'why did you lie?' They only raise their weapons when she lashes out.
Of course, this isn't to put the blame fully on Rumi; she was told by someone she trusted, someone she thought loved her (which Celine did in some ways, I'm tired of people fully villainizing her, but that is another entire conversation) that they wouldn't. It's the effect of her guilt, but still.

anyways i just love the way kpop demon hunters stayed true to its roots in korean/asian culture, especially around the core theme of community vs individualism
the fact that it's not a single chosen one but a group of three
the fact that the honmoon is not powered by the hunters themselves but by the energy and love of the fans
the fact that gwi-ma turns people into demons by promising that he is the only one who can help them when he is in fact reliant on his army of demons to collect souls for him
the fact that "your idol" is about surrendering yourself to a single higher power while "golden" is about soaring to new heights together
the fact that gwi-ma preys on people's individual insecurities and shame to get inside their heads while rumi, mira, and zoey set them free in the end by encouraging them to embrace their differences and reminding them that they're not alone
the fact that you can see the audience cheering individually and even pushing into each other to get closer to the stage during "your idol"
while they're linking arms and cheering together and hugging during "what it feels like"
i have not seen the live action lilo and stitch but it feels like that movie sits on the opposite end of the spectrum from kpop demon hunters as a case study for how to tell a story in way that is culturally authentic and still resonates with a broader audience
and i think given that the core theme of the movie is all about community over individualism, the ending, particularly as it relates to rumi and jinu's budding romance, is really the perfect culmination of that broader theme
rumi and jinu's connection has all the hallmarks of that all-encompassing, all-consuming, borderline co-dependent first love where you keep your relationship a secret and sneak out of the house to meet up and feel like the other person is the ONLY person who really gets you
i'm the only one who can understand you, i'm the only one who will love you is the kind of thing that sounds romantic when you're 16 until you get older and realize how toxic it actually is and i love that the movie counters that in "what it sounds like" with rumi realizing that she had that love and support all along from her girls, and later, from the fans who continue to cheer them on through their comeback
it's about connection and sisterhood and love and sharing your fears and lifting each other up and becoming stronger and better together
and as compelling as i found rumi/jinu and as much as i would like to see their relationship explored more in a sequel/series, i just really love that this movie, which is clearly targeted at young women, ends on the message that romantic love is not the end all be all, that friendship is just as important if not more so than a romantic partner, that single women can lead successful, fulfilling lives, that true happiness and freedom start from within
it's crazy that this message still seems revolutionary in 2025 but given the current state of the world, it feels more necessary than ever

Ever wonder if rumi's attachment/intimacy issues aren't just from hiding such a large part of herself, but also because deep down she was always afraid that her patterns wouldnt go away when the honmoon was sealed, and she would be sent to the realm of demons herself. She cared about her girls so much she didn't want to get to close to them, just in case, so they wouldn't be as upset?

Okay concept:
Im not convinced rumi has ever had a friend outside of huntrix for obvious reasons, so her concept of what is socially acceptable to say and do is HIGHLY skewed, but also Zoey just doesnt care about what's socially acceptable. Shes never been enough for anyone and she knows shes too much most of the time, so why bother trying?
So yeah feral!zoey and socially awkward!rumi are far too often on the exact same page in an unhinged, scary way
And SOMEHOW mira is the civilized one out of the three of them and she is holding it together by her fingernails
Like Zoey has an outlandish, maybe even violent suggestion and rumi is a little TOO down for it and then there's Mira who would absolutely love to punch the sleazy reporter about to do their interview but that would OBVIOUSLY be a BAD idea, or at least thats what shes repeating to herself like a mantra
Mira: someone has to be the voice of reason between the three of us and it cannot be me right now
Anyway long story short its an industry known that the huntrix girls are stupid talented but nobody ever wants to collaborate with them because theyre just so fucking weird and intense
#prev tags:#i think these girls personify the concept of let no one else into what youve got going on over there#for the worlds sake#theyre not toxic theres just no one who can match their freak#theyve found each other and the world can breathe easier now#because they can be obsessed with each other and leave everyone else out of it#kpop demon hunters

Zoey loving turtles and all Ocean life so whenever they have a fight near the assets of some evil corpration who destorys the enviorment(Zoey has memorised all of them) she just happens to do A LOT of collateral damage. Mira and Rumi of course realise this after a while and Zoey comes clean and says how sorry she is . How she is ashamed of abusing her powers like but she just cares so much about the ocean
Mira and Rumi immediately go"Oh my god baby no. We love you! If you want to be an eco terrorist we absolutely support you" and and Zoey just beams and go "I have so many ideas!|" And then Celine gets very alrmed and stars leaving them a lot of voice mails : " Girls I just found out that a Oil Platform that was nearly finished at the shipyard was destroyed by what looks like and I quote "lightsabers". I understand that it must have been a huge battle but you need to be more careful" "Girl was is this I am hearing about every single Whaling boat in Tokyo being sunk just when you have a concert there ?"
"So a three star Michellin restaurant who specializes in serving turtle, whale and shark meat was just burned the ground. Anything to say? I know it was you Zoey" "If you think letting the paprazzi catch you making out with each other is going to distract me you are dead wrong. We are going to talk about this girls. No about the lesbianism, I am proud of you and I love you . We are going to talk about the terrorism part"
#kpop demon hunters#if rumi figures out how to teleport the others with her it's so over for every whaling ship in existence

AU where Tobias is trapped as a social bird like a crow instead of a solitary predator. Bonus: Does he create the Crow Air Force by accident?
Yet another objectively excellent AU idea that has me stumped. Any fellow fandalites have suggestions about Tobias the Corvid?
