caught up with To Be Hero X. that frightening thought that Little Johnny and Big Johnny were probably used to bring down a great hero. Ghostblade was the trigger. and it's going to happen again. the unsettling feeling creeping from Lin Ling's and E-soul's arcs, now sinking deeper and taking over: that these heroes are not actually heroes. they're products, for consumption. chess pieces, to be moved or discarded. weapons used to wage war. by humans who have gotten too comfortable with playing at god.

Once when I was a kid my dad told me to “stop being a you-know-what”. And we’d done the whole song and dance enough times that I knew he meant “bitch”, so I told him: That’s cheating. You know what you mean, and I know what you mean- you’re just stepping around it so you can pretend you’re on the high ground. So if you’re going to call me a bitch, at least have the balls to actually say it.
And it’s been about fifteen years since then but I’m just now figuring out that that’s the same feeling I get hearing shit like “grape” and “unalive”.
If your audience knows what you mean, you might as well actually say it. Otherwise you’re just fucking hiding

While the K-drama of Marry My Husband is clever and elegant, the Japanese version I feel is a bit more straightforward, but also has a bit more magic woven into the story. It's both gentler and more intense. I like how it's unafraid of showing that it can get violent and bloody, to fight for a sense of self, for freedom, for love and happiness...
