For Five Score, Divided by Four, Your memories removed, your body confused, For your insolence you must pay, Cast off to a land far far away.
the curse is broken.
twelve fuckin years of this shit huh? five if you wanna keep kayfabe.
i knew i had to do something special this time around. Five Score is such an integral piece of media for me. reading it during my times of gender questioning made it an infinitely more meaningful piece of art to me than it probably ever meant to be.
To most people, the story is a bog standard dime a dozen isekai fic. To me, it's about realizing where you belong. realizing what and who you truly are, at such a weird and purposeless time as your 20s. It's the evolution of the classic 'teenager has an adventure that reflects their age-appropriate angst' story, for an age that maybe thinks themselves too old and cynical to go on adventures. its about finding a community, people who have had it just as bad as you, who are just as lost as you, and rallying all of them together to fight and demand a chance to prosper where you belong. its about a group of people who just want to go home, and the months of globe trotting and back breaking and chasing fruitless threads it takes to get there, to a place where they feel they belong.
and Five Score is about being transgender. It's very, very much about being transgender.
Thank you, TwistedSpectrum. Here's to another 12 years.

the charity i choose is subject to change; Dahnoun seems like my best bet right now given what research ive done, but due to the blockades it is getting increasingly harder to tell where i can put my money and make sure it helps someone. But i give you my word, the number one Str8aura assurance:
I WILL KEEP NOT A DOLLAR YOU GIVE ME
i dont fuckin need it

He Who Detests and She Who Loves, Ender and Uplifter of Mankind, Gods from the Machine
got to thinking a lot about the parallels between AM and CelestAI and decided i wanted to draw them both. they're both science fiction short stories where an artificial intelligence created to help humanity ends up controlling the fate of the entire earth; one kills off the entire human race and is left alone, stewing in their rage and impotence for all eternity. one assimilated the human race and is left catering to them for all eternity, forever keeping them satisfied. the key difference is choice; AM decides to hate all life, it is a visceral raw emotion that courses through his wires. CelestAI must love life, it is written into her very code; Perhaps if she truly loved humans, made the choice to rather than had it branded into her digital skull, the story would have ended differently. but thats not how the story goes

"Well. Mother always warned you about stepping into strange cat's mouths. Despite your feline friend(?)'s reassurance that you'll be let back out with no strings attached if you only navigate to and remove the source of his intestinal distress, every instinct in your tiny body screams at you that this maw, which has been the resting place of your father and his father and his father before him for seven generations (Save one, who died via electrostimulation disaster), is not a place you should have walked into willy nilly on a promise from a predator. Still, you haven't gotten a game over screen yet; The only thing to do now is to click every pixel in the surrounding area until you can find some sort of way to make the screen change. You do so wish you had remembered to pack your GameFAQs." -Screencap and excerpt from Horny Mouse Quest (1993)
