So now apparently I think is the full script of season 4 is online and when they are discussing that Nancy has guns well apparently Steve was supposed to put on the vest and Robin looking at him and trying to say something and Steve telling her whatever you’re about to say shut up and I’m like omg did they intend to make them actually canon but still kill Eddie like interesting also in a way idk but Joseph is giving up Taika Waititi vibes like they seem to love more queer projects in a way and like making characters not sometimes exactly canon queer but like queer coded or something and I’m just like I think it wasn’t just Joseph thinking Eddie and Steve are perfect pr maybe that’s why he accepted they gave him the script and everything and he accepted because of how Eddie was actually written to be into Steve idk hahaha idk if I make any sense
YES! Here is the section of the script for people that don't know.

It's so steddie coded and having some solid platonic Stobin in there too ahhh we deserved this scene. The Duffers for all we know we're originally going to explore steddie in canon, maybe they didn't mean to write something so steddie coded and so that's why it was removed, we'll never really know but Steddie nation was fed with this.

I will truly never understand why Robin and Dustin pushed the st*ncy agenda in season 4
they both know how hurt Steve was over the breakup so W H Y did they, as his best friends, do that
I understand why Eddie did, he was an outsider looking in and wasn’t aware of everything that went down
but Robin and Dustin?? it doesn’t make sense
(yes I know is lazy and bad writing on the duffle bags so don’t get into that I’m well aware)

i’m sorry i gotta say it the way robin calls people who believe eddie killed chrissy shallow minded and eddie has his little hunt the freak line and the show acts like eddie is Only the presumed killer because he’s an outcast is so silly when THE BODY WAS FOUND IN HIS HOUSEEEEE like if you guys were in hawkins you would also be like yeah eddie did it. YOU WOULD because the body. was found. in his house. and that is the only evidence

Some type of au idk.
About two months after the events of season two Steve is obviously not doing so hot and after some events his father disowns him. Unknownst to his father, Claudia Henderson, has been waiting with adoption paper since she met him. The process goes until june and about three days after Steve graduates he’s officially Steve Henderson.
Robin meets Steve at Scoops Ahoy and he pales every time she calls him Harrington. It’s not until she sees some paperwork he signs does she figure out that he’s not longer a Harrington. It’s about a week before july fourth that she starting calling him Henderson. When Dustin shows up Steve introduces him as his brother.
Obviously this makes the events of season three have a lot more emotions. Dustin’s shouting he can’t leave Steve because he just got a brother and Steve shouting back that it’s his job as Dustins brother to keep him safe. Robin asks for the story after they defeat the mind flayer and are waiting in the parking lot.
Eddie get invited over to the Hendersons when Dustin, Lucas and Mike want to do a oneshot campaign and the upperclassman are busy. It’s nearly christmas and the Henderson place is decorated head to toe. Eddie makes a joke about it and Dustin replies that his mom and brother are so embarrassing. A voice from the kitchen shouts that “if you’re so emmaressed about me none of you have to eat any of the cookies that I just made”. All of the boys start shouting and Eddie follows them to the kitchen. There baking cookies is Steve wearing an apron and holding a spoon.
Eddie freezes and turns to Dustin. “You’re brother is Steve fucking Harrington?”
Steve just sighs. “Henderson actually. Do you want cookies to Munson?”

I saw a shameless tiktok and I haven’t been able to get this idea out of my head:
Steve’s dad: Harrington’s don’t bottom
Eddie: is Steve adopted?
Steve’s dad: *gasps*
(I’ve never seen the show I just thought it was funny 😖)

i know most steddies/steve-likers headcanon him as bisexual but something about gay steve hits different.
steve being a skirt chaser in high school because that’s what he felt like he was supposed to do.
steve getting with different girls because he thinks it’ll fix what’s wrong with him.
steve telling himself that he’s in love with nancy because he finally found a girl friend who he’s okay with having to spend the rest of his life with, even if he isn’t truly in love.
steve being angry that nancy doesn’t love him because he doesn’t think he’ll ever have a connection with a woman that was as strong as with her.
steve convincing himself he liked robin because he struggles with differentiating platonic love vs romantic love.
steve, who continues to go on dates with the entire female hawkins population, because he doesn’t think he has another choice.
(steve who meets eddie and realizes that he’s been looking at the wrong people all along. that he doesn’t have to force himself to stay with a girl he’s not interested in. that it’s okay to love who you love.)
anyway i declare myself president of gay steve harrington fan club

Eddie is asleep on his couch. Steve didn’t remember Eddie being asleep on his couch. Or on his couch. Or in his house. He wasn’t complaining, but was still confused. But hey, Robin had a spare key and well. That meant that Eddie could easily acquire a spare key if he needed… or wanted evidently.
He was curled up tightly, arm twisted up behind his head. Blanket clutched in the other hand, a happy smile on his face. Steve shook his head with a small laugh, Eddie almost looked like a cat, belly towards the sky (and just as likely to bite your hand if you moved wrong).
Steve crouched down next to the sofa and gently brushed back some of Eddie’s hair, evidently he even chewed on it in his sleep. Hopefully nothing was *wrong*, Steve loved when Eddie came to hang out, but he had never dropped by without notice before. He hated to wake him, but Steve had to check and so he very gently whispered, “Eddie, hey, Eddie.”
Eddie twisted around, arms entwined above his head in a stretch and he let out a sleepy sound, “mrrp?”
Steve fell forward from his crouch and leaned up against the sofa to muffle his laughter. Eddie had just fucking woken up like a cat, mrrp activation sound and all.
“Steve? What’s so funny?” Eddie asked in a sleepy voice.
Steve only shook his head in laughter, chest full of warmth (and maybe love).

Something so interesting about Steve to me is that even during his King Steve reign, when everything is about being at the top of the food chain and being impressive and cool, his true nature still slips out. That big heart of his that's been buried deep keeps rearing its head, begging to be let out once and for all instead of stuffed down beneath layers of Lacoste tennis shirt and Farrah Fawcett spray.
You can see it in the way he always makes a point of making eye contact with Barb whenever he's talking with Nancy so that she isn't left feeling ignored or left out, and never questions or dismisses why Barb shows up with Nancy at his house.
In the way he enjoys the stupid and mean jokes that Tommy H. and Carol make but is quick to put a stop to them whenever someone else, like Nancy or Barb, seems uncomfortable with them.
In the way that he stops during sex to ask Nancy what's wrong, then holds her hand through it and tells her how beautiful she is.
In the way that he tries to reassure her afterward that no one's judging her or knows what happened, that he had a good time with her, and that everything is okay.
In the way that he can be seen giving his lunchmeat to Tommy and his applesauce to Carol and how he doesn't hesitate to step up to bat when he thinks Nancy's been wronged even if it seems a bit out of his comfort zone judging by the look on his face at the end.
In the way he grows concerned for Nancy after she blows him off and goes to check on her later that night because he wants to make sure everything is okay and it isn't just her being busy.
In the way that, even in the midst of high emotion, a possible head injury, and heavy confusion about why Nancy was even at the Byers' house in the first place, his primary concern was about her hand being hurt and whether or not she was okay.
In the way he went back inside the house to try and save them even after seeing the monster that makes no sense, having a gun pointed at him by his girlfriend, and being told to leave by both of them.
In the way that he didn't leave when it was all over or make a fuss and instead went to the hospital with them to sit and wait for what was probably hours for word about Will.
Steve is a bitch. He is a mean girl. He is sassy and shallow sometimes. But he's also the jerk with a heart of gold. An atoner. A protector. He's had his bad moments, sure, and he's going to have some more because he's human, and none of his good moments can truly wipe those away. And while a lot of these are generally the bare minimum a person can do, it is more than one would expect from a guy called the King, who is known for his hair, keg title, house parties, and ever-growing list of companions. Making it a true testament to how it's never been a case of "Steve Turned Good After [meeting Nancy/the fight with Jonathan/being exposed to the Upside Down]."
Good!Steve has always been there; he's just been hiding in plain sight. So it's not a case of an absolute change or a reaction due to trauma. Only case of a boy, good at his core, who never wanted or felt like he could genuinely expose that side of himself in its full glory, who finally learned how to say fuck it, and allowed himself to come forth and show off the parts he kept hidden in the dark for so long.

fake dating but it's Steve and Nancy, but they're only doing it to get everyone off their case- they have it all planned out, the fake dates and how they'll explain that there still isn't there and now they have confirmation. essentially just going along with "just give it one last go" but they aren't actually giving it a go, they're just figuring out how they fit together as friends and they come out the other side better and stronger and more understanding. they even give each other dating advice- helping each other see where they failed and how to be better in their next relationships. Stancy being besties.

House of the filthy, house not a home House of destruction where the lurkers roamed House that belonged to all the homeless kids Kids of the black hole
The point of Canon Divergence for punk!Steve: his first encounter with the Upside Down was nearly fatal. A lot harder to ignore the ghost in your pool when you have a scar that reminds you of it 24/7.

"Why do you call Steve your girlfriend?" Dustin asks one day while Eddie is driving him home from hellfire. The question causes him to hit the brakes and nearly drift into Mrs Henderson's driveway.
"Uhm because he's.. my girlfriend? What are you not getting?" He loves the way Dustin looks at him like he's grown 3 heads.
"Steve's a boy."
"Astute observation, Henderson."
"Then why do you call him your girlfriend?!" He's getting frustrated now, he's spun around in his seat so that he's fully facing Eddie, who is drumming his fingers on the steering wheel and biting back a smile.
"You're right. I shouldn't be calling him my girlfriend."
"Thank you-"
"He's actually my wife." Dustin stares blankly at him before shaking his head and getting out of the car. Eddie winds down the window and calls out after him. "I'll tell the wife you said hello!"
"I'm telling Steve to get a divorce!"
