I finished this up! I actually do like this design. If i get better at 3d modeling, i could make this punk.
This is Ruby, btw. Or like, the idea for. They'd be small. Maybe I could do one more around being able to shift their form for versatility. FOR NOW PRETEND THIS IS RUBY. ruby rep.
I need to continue with the conlang, I just am kind of at a mental block with it. Ideas arent flowing. I'll post as soon as that's changed!!!!

I like the idea of them being a solar system. They could utilize the star for energy to fuel their minds. The diamonds could prospect for a system that has a good star, a nice large variety of planets, and maybe some other factors, such as resources, and location.
MAYBE I COULD WRITE IN A TITULAR GREEN DIAMON !!! I'd just need to figure out what sphere of influence she'd have. Blue is diplomacy, yellow is war and construction, red is research, and white is law. Let me chew on this. If anyone sees this and has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!!
DIAMOND STRUCTURES!!!
I was mentally debating what the Diamonds' "brains" should look like. The original idea was a planet with moons, but what if they were more? Would all the Diamonds be in one solar system, or each have their own star? Would they be like a ring world? A dyson sphere? Would they be a neural network spread across multiple orbiting bodies?
They can be so much more than just one planet. I mean, these creatures actively span countless solar systems, actively exchanging resources between places who knows how far apart. It doesn't feel like a stretch to assume they have some megastructural capabilities.
So, this is me asking really anyone who wants to contribute: what would the Diamonds look like? Their giant, incomprehensible minds. What structure would best suit a supermassive supercomputer AI?

I"ve been working on this passively ever day btw. Trying to get past creative block, and I reached deep down to grasp the hands of 8 - 12 year old me. It's been a great partnership.
I had another idea: modular biology. As in like, some gems have consistent, flowing connected parts like we do, but some are more modular, especially those who do rougher jobs, such as quartzes. This mainlt came along from trying to brainstorm a ruby design I liked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My current idea for rubies is some sort of geometrical quadrupedal design, as they are meant to be protectors, and like living walls. Having four legs helps to push back and stand youe ground against foes. That's also why the toe thing is there, to stab into the ground. I also wanted to add arms for wrestling. My brain keeps saying "NNNOOOOO IT'LL BE TOO HUUUMMMAANNNN" but like, girly, ir's not THE END OF THE WORLD IF IT HAS ARREMMMSSSS.
Tumblr media
This was me also messing with designs and stuff, perhaps for some sort of planetside recon gem. I've also been messing with different organ designs, and lemme share what I have down.
Eyes: can either be not-a-spherw and pupil-less, being basically compound eyes, or have a pupil/something similar. Many gems with rougher jobs have the simpler compound eyes, while more observant gems and higher-ranking gems have pupiled eyes for better fine-detail focus. Will clarify, recon gems can have both.
Ears: Could be as simple as multiple thin membranes that capture different frequencies, cones with membranes and fluid, fluid, etc, as well as possible complex disks to help capture and focus soundwaves. Been using whales, humans, lizards, and other creatures to understand how life on earth gathers sound, and i HIGHLY recommend researching it is so COOL same with sight
Nose/Tongue: Would probably only be used by those more scientifically inclined, it would be the same set of polyps or whatever you wanna call them. A wall of tiny fronds that identifies trace amounts of stuff. Useless to most gems.
Touch: My friend and I have brought this up before, not all gems would be able to truly feel. For instance, we had this idea that rubies wouldn't have any feeling in their arms, relying solely on propioception. This is so they can swing their arms with no fear of pain. To help them not break their arms, they can also increase arm density, which not only intensifies the swing, but stops their arms from exploding on impact. Again, science and recon gems, as well as perhaos higher rank gems or diplomats, would possess more keen touch sensation. I saw this one artist who had some amazing illustrations demonstrating cultural nonverbal communicatjon utilizing the tendrils located all alonf a species' body. Kind of intimate from a human POV, but regular and important for the aliens. I thought that was cool.
There's also echolocation, which would be under hearing, as it utilizes sound waves. I was thinking of some other types, maybe some sort of minor electrical output to detect a space, maybe for boring gems (as in, like, mole gems) since eyes wouldn't be useful. On the same vein as echolocation, "tremorsense," being the detection of movement through touch rather than hearing. I've been tryijg to learn of different ways to perceive the universe, and it all comes down to usefulness. Would this be a practical thing to observe? Is it better left to mechanical instruments?
Anyways, that's all for now. I never gave up on this, and it is far from dead! I just didn't have any major points significant enough to make a post on, and waited to make a post compiling small points. じゃあ

Would it not be the most epic ever to have beautiful artistic architecture, showing the splendor of the Diamonds, the brilliance of the Gempire, the authority of the upper classes. Have cool architecture????
I love when buildings have love sewn into the fibers of their existence. We need some love fiber buildings! Memorials! Ancient sites! Places people travel to complete those spiritual journeys!!
Tosses hair. I love architecture.

Staring at Xiaoma interacting with Bonobos made my brain expand. I need to overcomplicate the creation of Gems even more!!!
Specifically, with body language and signals. With bonobos, pulling your arms back, baring your chest, and "smiling" is a sign of submission. They have a greeting call. There's so much random little things.
With Gems, how would I write body language and such for creatures with such a variety of bodies? (Hint: I'm already prepared to make it complex and have a lot to do with class and gem type).
Something I've always found interesting is the anthropomorphization of animals, as seen in human media. Making animals perform actions that make humans feel comfortable and communicated to, such as hugs, nodding the head, smiling. Another one is what I will call canimorphization. Canine morphization. Where dog traits are expressed onto an animal, such as tail wagging, head tilting, or chasing in order to play. A good example is lizardfolk (the dnd kind) being portrayed as wagging their tails when excited. That thang isn't a dog!!
I'd love to do little doodles or short animations or something showing human-gem interactions. Stuff where a supplicant human engages in gem body language, and where a supplicant gem engages in human body language. It would be super fascinating to flesh out, and make them even more ✨️ alien ✨️
So, looks at list. Language, architecture, machinery, designs, types, class, instruments, arts, culture, methodology, way of thinking. Throws body language on top of the stack.
ITS FALLING RUN AWAY AAGAHBSBhsjnsns. .... 🦟

This is the final design that I feel good about for Quartzes. That I feel solid about.
So!!! They have a long body that can curl, but is thick for strength. Their short limbs is also part of this point, being shorter for stability. They have ridges along their back to help anything that may be sitting on their back to stay on, or for extra grip, or defense. There's a multitude of reasons. They also have an eye at each end of the body, for a good sense of general vision.
Different Quartzes might have different defining attributes, beyond color. Maybe Amethysts have larger back ridges, whilst Jaspers have longer legs, etc.
Now, to design 28638363727 more gems I'm satisfied with!!!!!

Hopefully tomorrow, I can spend time cementing the alphabet. I've spent way too long lolligagging on it.
I'm also thinking, how would people feel if I wrote some short excerpts from different parties? There's mainly the Discolored (an undercover rebel group), the Ruby Moonstone Band (a homeworld operative), and the Sunstone Incident (a corrupted fusion on earth). But!! There's also all the projects I mentioned before. What better food for worldbuilding thought than writing a short story from the perspective of the project's development??
I ask like I actually want permission to post these. I'm gonna post them anyways, no stopping me tehee. Visual medium (art) can only convey so much!! Actually, maybe that is something I could publish to AO3, for archival reasons?
In the same boat, I'm going to be recording established information on my website!! On AHEM https://strangeverse.uwu.ai AHEM, if you scroll down to the projects button, then SUAU button, and then to the very bottom of the page, I will be recording concise and formatted information on the SUAU there. Stay tuned for updates!!
also, for everyone who isn't infesting my brain, the Discolored are a roaming group of rebels who stay on the outskirts of gem society. They pilot a pirated ship, which they have made changes to, and pose as merchant gems. Their leader is a bismuth, with the other members being 2 amethysts, 3 rubies, an aquamarine, a peridot, and a lapis. The Ruby Moonstone Band is a group of five rubies and their moonstone. The lead ruby was rewarded a moonstone for their diligent efforts. They do mostly mercenary-type work for other gems. The Sunstone Incident refers to )what started this entire AU!!( three gems who were in a corrupted fusion after the Earth Civil War. Composed of a sapphire, ruby, and rose quartz, they were caught in the fighting, and abandoned. Synopsis is, Ruby and Rose Quartz' gems are fused together through natural processes, and when Sapphire stumbles across these two after reforming on the battlefield, she tries to help them. In a last desperate attempt, she fuses with them, which ensares her inside of the corrupted mind, thus making Sunstone!!
Seriously, should I post the shortstories to AO3-

Alright, I'm going to focus in on specific colonies to build on. I've been so broad that it stifles my ability to think of good designs.
So, let's make 5 colonies!! 5 places of settlement the Gems will develope and use.
English nickname: Lillola. This planet is a huge terrestrial planet. The gravity is on the heavier side, and this planet's core is almost entirely solid, with only the very center being molten. There is no life on this planet, which spins slowly. It's proximity to its yellow star finds the day side cooked with heat, and the night side frozen and desolate. The atmosphere is thin, almost nonexistent, and water has not been found on the surface. This planet is incredibly still, with a lack of natural formations, tectonic activity, erosion, etc. It's been chosen by the Gems for raw resources, to be slowly chewed at overtime.
English nickname: Sorthagax. This planet is a gas giant, with the actual base of operations being installed across Sorthagax' multitude of moons. Similar to Jupiter, this planet possesses a thick atmosphere, followed by a superdense boiling ocean, and finally, the tiny core. The gasses on Sorthagax are valuable for whatever reason (can be developed on), which is why the Gempire is harvesting from it.
English nickname: Rotthak Belt. Not a planet, but rather an expansive asteroid belt surrounding a blue star. A safe enough distance to not turn Gem ships to slag, there are valuable rare materials on these asteroids that don't exist on most planets in such concentrations. The task is to establish a web of harvest ports, and export everything efficiently.
English Nickname: Piwoga. A tiny terrestrial planet, made out of crystals never before observed by Gemkind. This is the only planet orbiting a red dwarf, and it is close enough to stay at a pleasant 20° Celsius. The planet spins so fast that the day night cycle is only around 10 hours, and the gravity is hardly present. The objective is to study these strange crystals, and this planet.
English Nickname: Earth. A medium terrestrial planet, with oceans, and life. This planet, which was initially slated as a zone for kindergartens, is now the subject of study, thanks to the unique biodiversity, as well as the emergent culture of humans. The objective is to study the wildlife, and the human population.
Details on each of these will be fleshed out as I work on them. I've been taking another brain break, but staring at an unusual Pokemon has inspired me. If anyone has any ideas for what to add, please do share!

Testing hello.
Hiii!! So, some stuff. PICTURE TIME!!
Tumblr media
I've been teying to work on accessories and possible iconography. This is super simple and basic, but great groudnworks. Also, don't know fi it was mentioned, but a final design idea has been cemented for the Diamonds. By that, I mean their massive planet brains. They have a large central planet, which also is able to house gems yay!!! There are two orbital rings that spin whilst around these planets, these could be multiple things. Vast storage, further housing, amplifier for signals and such, docking and setting out. Main thing is the rings are purely gem-centric, intended for the use of the small guys, not the planet brain. Then, there are these smaller planets, "moons" if you will, that orbit the main planet brain. These are utilized possibly for multiple purposes. I like to think of them as addons that slowly appeared overtime, and can keep beinf added on. With that, they might literally just be that: mental add-ons. They possess multiple crystal arrays that have corresponding arrays, transmitting powerful and swift messages between the two. Since the planet needs to orbit to not crash into or fly away from the main brain, these arrays float, and migrate slowly across the surfaces. The orbits are patterned out in such a way that a collision would never occur.
Tumblr media
Okay now to pay more attention to the iconography. The whole reason I explained that is because the whole circle with X is meant to symbolize the planet brain and its rings, and the outer ring is the "moons." Broad iconography would be very planet-centric, since it is these little floating orbs that provide them with everything. Planet-centric, sun-centric, etc etc. I also wanted to keep the diamond cut into 4s, because it is not only just really compelling and I like it, but also another thing to stay true to the show. This can also help with other iconography, such as rank. Squares would help show building, thanks to their "slottability." Not all buildings are square, but squares are a pretty universal starting point for a building.
It was also at this point that I realized classifying gems utilizing real examples was useless. Why? Well, Sapphires and Rubies are both Corundum. They are the mineral corundum. So is Garnet, and Topaz, and Alexandrite. So fun. There's more, like Beryls. Emerald, Aquamarine, Bixbite, and Morganite are all Beryl. Don't get me started on Quartz. So, basically, it's a useless endeavor!!
Instead, what I may do is keep the broad strokes, like Quartz and Beryl and Corundum and Feldspar etc etc, and have them be general "benefits." For instance, a pale blue Beryl, aka an Aquamarine, is blue thanks to iron impurities. I could build off of the attributes of Beryl, while also adding special attributes to Aquamarine that can help me choose where gems should be. For instance, heating up an aquamarine apparently makes it a deeper, richer blue, so I could do multiple things: have bluer aquamarines be an obvious mark of working in hotter locations, make aquamarines tolerant or intolerant of heat, etc etc. Also adding iron attributes. ALSO, AFTER RESEARCH, METAL GEMS MIGHT PROBABLY BE A THING. First off, Pyrites exist in the canon universe. They are verbally mentioned by Blue Diamond, I believe. If Pyrite exists, I will extend and say that Iron is crawling around, fight me (pyrite is fool's gold). Also, because metals are minerals.
I'm getting off track. I also want to design accessories, potential "clothing," consumables, and other stuff. Beyond just ships and weapons, I want to explore more domestic gem life. Those funky wristbands are just shots at that. There's plenty of written stuff. I was thinking of stuff that temporarily alters energy flow in the gem. Think a mind-altering drug. Maybe a glue for quickly patching a gem crack or cut, or prosthetics for gems who can't express enough energy to have a proper lightform (stares at peridot). I largely want to delve into this stuff because I feel that Gems would largely be battling themselves, not other people. They would struggle with their supermassive empire. They would struggle with rebellions, or discontent. Because of this, they'd probably be more diplomatically inclined than war-inclined, like we are shown in the show. Maybe they ARE, in the show, but since the show orients around survivors of a violent civil war, we only see the war side.
I have another post coming on Gem lightform designs. Stayyyy tuuunnedddd

Hello, hiiiii!!!
I HAVE BEEN; quiet. Reason? Well, I do a lot of my worldbuilding stuff in bursts. The reason being: I know myself. I tend to run up against a wall and begin to struggle with new ideas or concepts.
And, actually, this break has helped me have some GREAT breakthroughs! I know nobody feels any sort of despair or harrowing sadness when I suddenly say that I am completely revamping something!! :)
So, with the language. I realized I was going about the lines wrong. What do I mean? Have you ever LOOKED AT A MUSIC SHEET. It's a bunch of lines with notes on it, depicting the time a note is held, and the pitch of the note. Also can have extra stuff like 3/4th time and such. So, yeah, I can do so much more with my language. Also also, while working on another world, I realized how one can come about the basic words for a language: NAME STUFF. Name of this country? Oh, it's Fleeble Glorp, which means Cool Rock in Yarpnip!!! So, that's also out of the way.
On top of this, I finally found a way to classify Gems and stuff. I am a stickler for organization, and Gem society would be too. Luckily, I have deescovered a method of sorting Gems, and hopefully naming schemes will materialize soon. I'm so excited.
Yet another also, I have tons of ideas for their society and technology and stuff. I finally settled on how their "biology" works, and I'm like,, im like the static energy in a spring. LET ME AT EMMMMM!!!!
I don't have any cool pictures this post, just raw enthusiasm. Prepare for more stuff!!
OH im also posting silly stuff on https://strawject.uwu.ai/#gemgug, part of my ultra cool website. Just for fun, and because I find the ultimate freedom of website creation sillyfun.

Gemglyph Brainwaves
OMG it's me again!! So, I've been bubbling and boiling. @multiversetravelingjournalist had some brainwaves I really liked, although trying to put verbs in a tense that isn't relative to time is like trying to think of a new color for me (I don't understand it yet :(
For multiple points they made, the Gem (lightform) and Gem (little crystal thang) being two separate words was great. I am endlessly appreciative for that idea (I feel like I've been staring at the word 'noun' for far too long now). Also had me thinking of how to do the background hum in a way that makes me feel certain about stuff. Maybe as a way to mark formality, importance, stuff like that, depending on the word type being used. Reason for this is because the hum is more like a slider than something worthy of a character. In Steven Universe, Gems address their higher-ups possessively. Example: My Diamond, my Emerald, my Hessonite, etc. So perhaps possessiveness shows a sort of fond regard, I'll-do-stuff-for-you kind of thing. So like, if a Gem regarded a ship as 'my ship,' that means the ship is of high value to them, so they want to put effort into it.
There's also a few other ideas I jotted down. Honestly, I'm posting these because I don't see the harm in it. Hearing if ideas are good or bad from more experienced langconners is great. Idea #1: Gems ALWAYS specify the amount of something. If they do not know exactly, they give a rough guess, followed by a word for "roughly" "around" etc. Why? Because they are little AI computer people and they are technical in their existence. Idea #2: The whole background pitch thing could be used not just for formality, but for length of time, too. Like, when speaking about a noun, formality would be used. When stating a verb, the pitch can be used to indicate how far forwards or backwards this is occurring, or if it is actively happening. Idea #3: (look at images posted below) Certain characters can overlap to kind of make double-toned "new" characters. This idea came from Japanese, with characters like きゃ. Idea #4: Building off of idea 3, bell tones, which endure for a solid moment, are ALWAYS overlapped by another character. This is just there because it can be.
Tumblr media
This is meant to be the alphabet (again, still in heavy workshop). I finally sat down, listened to tones online, and compiled a list of them that seems good. Then I doodled down basic place marker characters. Each 'instrument' got a different 'genre' of characters. The little flip thing in the top right means it changes which side its horizontal orientation depending on which side it sits on. The big symbols above the lines are the bell tones, and the lines are me actively struggling with the sustained tones. I know, I'm great.
Tumblr media
This is a substance-less mock sentence, to demonstrate the idea of how writing could work. Each word bounces to the other side of the line, there are double-tones, and it ends with a big dot. Dare I say, a period.
Anyways, I need to step out of my brain for a second and think of actual words to help form the base of this language. My head has just been clogged because learning the fundamentals of language construction is still sending me for a ride. This is cool kid, signing out! (if anyone has suggestions please PLEASE-)

Gemglyph
So, on top of redesigning and everything, I am also redesigning gem language. It always came off as kind of weird that Gems were just... fluent in English. Only reasonable explanation I could think of is Gems introducing English to humans in the show. I disagree. Let's add a language barrier.
So, Gems in my AU produce sounds through their gem. They produce low humming, and more high-pitch rings and dings. This composes the basics of their spoken language. They also have a written form, although it's a lot more uncommon, and often written in sacred locations, to announce names, locations, place wards, etc. Gem religious ideas is something I also will maybe get into.
Tumblr media
They also commonly utilize technology, although technology is interfaced directly through the mind (since their gem is technology), so there is no visual component beyond the ergonomic designs marking it as a usable computer. This was partially inspired by when Pearl piloted the Gem Warship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving on, here's some of the iterations for Gemglyph I've had. The primary idea is that it moves along a fixed line, similar to music. The fixed line changes depending on the background humming, and notes are marked across it. A sentence ending would be marked by a harsh line cutting across the central line. This could allow sentences to be written in multiple artistic ways, such as spiraling, squiggles, you name it. Also, I just like the look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a lot of listening to sounds, since I wanted to make sure the noises I was selecting weren't nonexistent or impossible to hear the difference from. After that little experiment, the alphabet changed again. There were also suggestions to change how notes and lines look, to make it less muddled and confusing.
Tumblr media
The language is presently heavy in workshop, and could probably use more notes to add more letter variety. For now, however, this is where it is. Suggestions endlessly appreciated, I've never made a conlang before. I'm also creating a list of base words, and trying to figure grammar. It's great.

I sincerely apologize for the last two posts, I even double checked that the other art was on my normal blog. I wish I knew why it kept posting there. The intent of the blog is for my Steven Universe AU, and I am kinda hating whatever force in the universe that is causing this stuff to mess up.
Anyways, sorry for not posting about the SUAU, I've been really busy finding a job, among other things.
Developements soon!!! And maybe cool concept art!!!!

Omori
THIS GAME, man. Right up there with Everything Everywhere All At Once for me. It's the kind of thing where I had heard about it a long time ago, when it had come out, and wrote it off. Also the kind of thing that I got into when I genuinely needed it most.
I already had a lot spoiled for me, which I won't really go into, so as to not to the same to others, but MAN. MAN. This game tore me apart in ways I wasn't expecting.
Small side tangent, I remember, when I was first asking people to refer to me as Sunny, people would joke about this game. I wrote it off and was like "eh, sure." Now??? Let me tell you, very convincing argument for their being a greater force at work (god(s)).
BUT, so. Sunny. He's a shut-in for four years because something AWFUL happened to him a while ago. He uses escapism in a dream world of his own imagination to cope with everything, repressing the memories. Even with that brief synopsis, I was not expecting to relate to Sunny so much. Perhaps never a shut-in, but I socialized because I went to school, and homeschool was never an option offered to me. I would always daydream and imagine a better world, one that was superior to the one I was stuck in. I imagined and imagined, because it was the only way to stay afloat. And on days where I wasn't waking up at 6 am for school, I was sleeping in until the afternoon, dreaming lucid dreams of strange places (which a lot of my stories are actually based off of!!).
Also, his destructive self-hatred, coming from the same thing that honest-to-god was designed to protect him. And not killing it, but embracing it. Like it's never gonna go away, but it doesn't have to be the way that it is.
Also also, his being unable to really emote, or speak, or all of that. I drew up having freakouts and being told I would say rude stuff, so I fell into not wanting to talk a bunch. I went to conversation therapy, but talking often never felt like I was actually.. yknow.
SO, why write this now? Because I made an art piece! It's meant to be of Sunny and Omori, and self-hatred. Although, of course, interpret it however you want! <3
Tumblr media
I HIGHLY recommend this game. It reminded me why I keep waking up each morning. Lots of love, and peace.

Asteroid Outpost
So, a compilation of ideas. Two new gems, which would run this facility, and the facility itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are pictures of Morganite, a gem who specializes in zero-gravity environments. They are often sent out in groups, where they bring a device to recall where the outpost is, and a device for scanning asteroids for materials. They are incapable of anything but standard feeling and hearing, as it isn't needed for their job. Once Morganites come across a suitable asteroid, they push it back using a rigid arm that attaches to it. Sometimes, the rigid arm is too big, and they need to fuse to push it back. They propel themselves through five spindly limbs on each side of their spherical body, which utilizes basic electron high-energy propulsion (or magic, your choice), where it is then parked into the station.
Tumblr media
An asteroid harvesting outpost is modular, able to be added onto and changed depending on the circumstance, or even dismantled and recycled for use elsewhere. There are different docking segments, to fit different sized ships, there is storage for gems, in case less or more Morganites and Pearls are needed at a time, processing in case materials need separated or refined, and the extruding asteroid attachment segment, where asteroids are tied down to the outpost, and broken down.
Tumblr media
Asteroids are broken down and harvested by Zircons, which are equipped with two of the propulsion limbs, three long, nimble arms, and a laser, which they use to chisel at the asteroid. The hands can also hold machinery, or be used to hold the Zircon in place.
Both Morganite and Zircon are large compared to the standard planet-side gem, not limited by gravity, and needing to move large objects with little resistance.
Tumblr media
This is a picture of multiple Zircons working on chiseling a tethered asteroid, held together by magnetic links.
Tumblr media
This is a full show of an Asteroid Outpost, with four modules. Two are ship modules, to fit larger trucker-esque ships, one is the asteroid attachment facility, and one is unspecified. There are morganites moving an asteroid, Zircons working at an asteroid, Zircons helping to prepare to chain down the incoming asteroid, as well as ships parked and leaving. There is even a tiny little Pearl in front of one of the ships, performing minor maintenance.
This is a long one, and I want to also expand on perhaps there being a regional manager of multiple facilities. Until then, ciao.
