hello mr j, i'm looking for advice on befriending small cats - there's a kitty in my neighborhood who i very much want to pet, and she seems curious about me, but she won't come closer. i've watched her grow up over the summers and i fed her treats as a kitten. i was wondering, what can i do to make a shy cat feel more comfortable? much love to you, kofu, maru and landlady <3

Hi J-San, Kofu-San, Maru-San, and Landlady. It appears I'll be grieving alongside you for a bit - while I didn't lose a family member, I am losing a furry friend soon. One of my grandfather's ancient cats (18 years old!), Cinnamon-chan, is being put to sleep tomorrow. She's been really sick since her last vet visit, and unfortunately, there's nothing more we can do for her. I'm going to miss her a lot, even if she was a bit cranky and never really liked me. In her memory, here's a photo of her from last month when she was still healthy and happy.

oh...we hope you could have enough time with Cinnamon san...we think she loves you!!

We grieve with you, Miss Landlady. I lost my grandmother, and while she wasn't my mom, she meant the world to me, and i can barely think about her without crying.
