Quite interesting!
Best way to round of first day back at work? Definately by watching some Qi! Must have learnt more watching that than through all of high school. Wouldn't it be a great idea to hire comedians as teachers??

No but seriously, Benedict Cumberbatch is a name too English to exist.
Was he raised by Charles Dickens? Every time you say “Benedict Cumberbatch” an Irishman dies.

Rambling I know...
So, I am going to start work again at my old job tomorrow. Can't say how incredibly much I wish I didn't have to do that. It's actually a pretty good job in my line of work, with great coworkers and a not to heavy workload. I should be happy. But since when did that ever make it so?
It's crazy really how easy it is to just let the years pass by without really having anything to show for them. It is also crazy how you realize this and somehow still find it impossible or at least really hard to change things. Going back to the same job after a couple of months of unemployment (and trying to figure out how to get out of it) inevitably feels like a failure... Ironic I guess since finding work is never regarded as failing, but rather the opposite.
So I guess even though it's hard knowing that I might be in the wrong place in my life at the moment, what I really don't want is to revert back to the same tired basically unconscious zombie I usually am when I work full time. You know, when you get home and just crash on the sofa in front of some dull television program and then go to bed and work again in the morning. Rather pointless isn't it.
Just need to remember to keep thinking and trying...

Talent.
People like Benedict Cumberbatch (who seem to be “good at everything”) aren’t just talented. They’re diligent.
All of us are born with something that we’re better at than other things. It doesn’t have to be something artistic. It can be logical, linguistic, mathematical, emotional, domestic, etc. Whatever it is, it’s something you have an inclination toward.
But talent isn’t everything, and running on talent alone will get you nowhere. You have to be willing to work at something for a long time. Years, maybe. But if you care about it enough, it’ll be worth it. You’ve gotta have heart. There’s got to be a reason for what you’re doing. Passion. Joy. Talent’s not the only thing that matters.
A person can have a lot of talents, but can be mediocre. Talent is not admirable. Diligence is admirable. Heart and attitude are admirable. Talent? It’s a blessing, but it’s nothing to look up to. How a person builds off of their talent—that’s something to look up to.

I’ve been reading ‘How to leave Twitter’ by Grace Dent which is enormously funny as all I do is spend my entire time on Twitter. Having a book that’s about Twitter is great ‘cause I can actually read a book about Twitter, tweet about it on Twitter, then just get back to being on Twitter. It’s basically I live on Twitter

Please say I'm not the only one!
As I was watching the second series of BBC Sherlock I kept thinking about the theme song, and how it reminded me of something, of another song... Just the other day it hit me! Doesn't it sound a lot like the chorus of Romantic Balcony by Micheal learns to rock?? Ok, it's a different key and style (and almost sickly sweet, I know) but still...

The people around you are mirrors, I think to myself. The dog is paddling in the lake. I watch her lap at the water. You see yourself reflected in their eyes. If the mirror is true, and smooth, you see your real self. That’s how you learn who you are. And you might be a different person to different people, but it’s all feedback that you need, in order to know yourself. But if the mirror is broken, or cracked, or warped, I continue, taking another drag, the reflection is not true. And you start to believe you are this… bad reflection.

Huh?
Am I the only one who finds the new mini-series about the sinking of the Titanic slightly confusing? What with the jumping back and forth in the timeline, I almost thought they might throw in an alternate universe or something.... Liked the look of the thing but watching it happen four times instead of one feels a bit overindulgent.

The french lieutenant's woman.
Certainly a captivating read. Impossible not to se myself in her desperate search for something to define her, be it shame and ostracization or the love of someone unattainable. Must say I have a rather less romantic life story though...
Anyway, which ending did you like best?

High expectations always leaves me disappointed, whatever the situation. Should just lower them alltogether. Or?
