to be completely honest, the last two weeks have been different. i think it's good to come out of your comfort zone and explore a different environment. being in eindhoven really has opened my mind about what the world still has to offer. i felt like i was truly at home but the fact is i knew it wouldn't last. i've really really enjoyed the two weeks i've spent here in this wonderful city with the people i was with. we treated each other liked we were family and looked out for one another. even when we led our own journeys we always came back together and left as one. i wish i could say more but i would be repeating myself and frankly it's better if i verbally tell my story but even in any other languages it won't be able to fully describe how gratifying this experience has been to me and i truly hope to have it again

my highlight of the festival. has to be working on the waterfall swings. just the joy of seeing peoples faces and reaction at the amazing work of an artist satisfies me. taking photos of the swing at work gave me so many opportunities to capture the moment.

LightUp Is an artists’ collective that uses video-projected light to ‘bodypaint’.
I got to pretend to be an artist and draw children and students and turn them into illuminated paintings each day between 9-10 and 4-5. #AMc

working at the silent cinema, the name seems exciting but more relaxing as you indulge yourself in the short films made for the viewers pleasure

Eindhoven - Day 6
today was good, although it was slow, we had a lot of work to do. kids from school came to visit the festival. so we had to do what we did on Friday  what i noticed today was how some of the kids didn’t react the same way the adults did on Friday which was interesting to see. i gradually moved to the silent cinema and then the waterfall swing which i enjoyed working at. the idea and function of the swing alone i find amazing. the waterfall can be programmed to create water patterns and shapes which looked amazing. the kids were all excited to get on and try it out eventually most were soaked. i had a go myself and got drenched. it was a fun expereince. i hope to work on the swings again this week.

Eindhoven - Day 4
Saturday we started late at midnight, half of us came early to see some of the Djs play. Lunice was amazing. having seen and heard of him for the first time i was really impressed. because of the gigs only the light bar and the two main halls were open for people. i started at the silent cinema then after my break ended up working at the bar. it was an interesting job and i did eventually enjoy doing it but it was a very messy jobs. i ended up with beer all over my cloths which wasn’t a pleasant experience. the night was long but in the end i enjoyed the music.

Eindhoven - Opening night
Friday was good we were given a post each to guard and make sure each installation we were hosting was was kept protected and that people weren’t in any arm which is pretty simply to do. i was given the chain driven 3d mirror, the idea was to place the thing on the persons head and allow them to walk around the device while they see a image of themselves in the rotating prism. this installation was quite popular and kept me busy, a lot of adults seemed to have enjoyed trying it out. what surprised me was how amazed they were by the installation  after my break i was moved to the silent cinema which was also busy we had to give head phones to people so they cold watch the short films that were being projected on the screens. i found some of the shorts enjoyable to watch but some were too short and other too abstract to make sense of. in the end seeing the same repeated films numerous times became tiring. I then moved to the laser forest which i found amazingly inspirational  the space was dark with a few lights and poles with lasers at the top. each pole creates it’s own sound when you hit or shake it. being in a very calm ambient space felt really relaxing. overall my expectations of the festival were met and so far i am enjoying the experience.

Eindhoven - Day 2
today was a little more productive, although there weren’t many jobs for us to do we managed to spend some of the time doing our own work and helping out with a few things. we were given our t-shirts and crew cards ready for opening night of the festival. we were given a break for a few hours which i spent looking around and writing in a lovely cafe in the shopping section near the station. tomorrow is a late start so hopefully we’ll make it til morning.

Eindhoven - day 1
today was good we got to meet some of the workers and help out doing small jobs like screwing legs on tables ready for the festival. although it was slow and felt like 3 days we were treated very kindly and enjoyed seeing some of the unfinished installations.
I also got to know the group of people i would call friend for the next 13 days. and so far they're great. lets see what tomorrow has to offer.
