Some math notes from last semester because I really haven’t taken any new book and here are some extracts from my book titled “the exact opposite of a growing perpetuity” that I’m currently working on. This book is so close to my heart and I hope it goes well.

Is there anything you would do differently in college? Anything you wish you new earlier or things you wish you did but didn’t?
3 things I screwed up and would have done differently in college:
I would have shadowed someone in my target career (in my case, a doctor) way before I was on the verge of graduation so I’d have discovered earlier that medicine wasn’t what I wanted to do. This would’ve given me time to change majors. As a transfer student, I had half the time as other students to catch up on acquiring research opportunities and internships so I laser focused on those two factors instead of seeking practical exposure to the actual day-to-day life of a doctor. When I completed shadowing, I realized I disliked the actual delivery of medical care. Key lesson: Make sure your abstract vision of your post-graduate career aligns with the reality of it– gather data.
I would have attended more office hours and closely engaged my professors. As a science major, I didn’t see the value of professors outside of lectures and grades. It was: syllabus, midterm, final, and on to the next class. I kept in touch with only 2-3 of 30 professors from undergrad which I now consider a loss, but I fixed that in graduate school where I kept in touch with nearly all of the professors who have helped with job opportunities, letters of recommendation for additional degrees, character references, and overall insightful meetups and conversations years after graduation. Key lesson: Leverage the knowledge and network your professors have, they’re decades ahead of you in experience and expertise.
I would have been single at the start of college. Long story short, I very briefly tried to maintain a long-distance relationship while cramming classes and trying to ace them in my pursuit of getting into medical school. This made me a sub-par boyfriend and a sub-par student because I couldn’t dedicate enough my time and energy into doing either one particularly well. The relationship made me stressed about harming my grades but the pursuit of grades made me stressed about neglecting my relationship. She and I ended the relationship a few months into the semester but the stress that negatively impacted grades and my social life was something I wish I could redo. There’s no right or wrong answer to this, many people can maintain a long-distance relationship successfully in college and would gladly choose that route, but I would have been happier if I hadn’t done that. Key lesson: Evaluate your relationships as you adjust to a new environment and transition into a critical phase of your life.
3 things I did well and would totally do again in college:
Socialized, a lot, especially with people outside of my major. It’s easy to make friends with people in the same major because of shared classes, but the most valuable insights I got were from people in other majors pursuing other career tracks: law, business, engineering, performing arts, academia, etc. because it tipped me off to more career options I hadn’t been open to. I didn’t just stick to the pre-med students. It’s how I eventually realized I wanted to pursue business over medicine. When it came time to switch, I had a huge network of classmates who had already walked that path and who could help guide me. I made friendships that I’ll treasure for a lifetime. Key lesson: Get out of your dorm room and befriend people outside of your major, they will provide valuable perspectives and opportunities, they are your future network.
Followed the money AKA chose my head over my heart. I had a choice between two universities: 1) my dream university at full price (no financial aid) or 2) my not-dream but still incredible university at full tuition (100% financial aid). I chose the latter, got a great education, and graduated from a top university with $0 student debt which gave me the flexibility to pursue another career track when I changed my mind. If I had eaten the $100,000 in undergraduate loans from my dream university, I would have felt pressured to continue on to medical school because of the high salary to pay back that debt. Financial stress limits choices. I eventually attended my dream university later for graduate school anyway but it wouldn’t have made a difference in my career if I hadn’t. Key lesson: M.I.A.M.I. = money is a major issue, never make financial decisions using emotions and take student debt seriously.
Trusted my gut and resisted pressure from my parents. Here’s a formula for you: Asian parents with a strong desire to have their child become a doctor + my multiple medical school acceptances including one from an Ivy League university = insane pressure from family to pursue that path. External pressure clouds judgment because it imposes other people’s opinions and voices above your own. In the end, I trusted my gut when it clearly told me that medicine wasn’t the right choice. I pivoted to business, became very successful in my career, and now I’m a Strategy Lead for a trillion dollar big tech company living my best life. Key lesson: You have to live with the consequences of your choices after your parents pass away so choose what’s best for your long-term happiness and trust yourself.

I spent my day reorganizing my desk yesterday and I also managed to film a desk tour video for you guys! The last desk tour video that I filmed was about a year ago and so much on my desk has changed and will change. I'm thinking of doing a desk tour every year. I have the link to the one I did before on my bio if you guys are interested in checking it out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, today I will be spending the day completing some book club assignments on wattpad and filming a pack with me video! I am thinking of dividing the video in 2 or 3 parts so that I don't bore you with its length and as such.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also here is a monthly spread of the previous' month July and here's how it turned out! I got a 4.0 GPA this semester and I had a 3.8 in the other two before it and it was supposed to increase to 3.86 as a cumulative GPA but they placed it as a 3.87 yay to rounding up grades haha. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think my new feed will turn out just the way I wanted it to if not more and I'm really hoping it works out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do any of you guys have tumblr? Comment down below your usernames if you do and let's follow each other on there x ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [stationery used] : erich krause retractable 0.7 ball point pen, vs pink planner stickers, sticky notes off of ali express and daiso + some stickers i printed myself, stabilo pastel highlighters and some pilot retractable gel ink pens in the .7⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [tags] : #study #studyblr #studyhard #studyinspo #studyinspiration #obsession #stationerylove #studysupplies #planner #bulletjournal #bujo #books #bookstagram #studyaccount #studymotivation #showmeyourplanner #stationery #bujoinspire #bulletjournalcommunity #alevels #cbse #plannercommunity #planneraddict #lettering #calligraphy #planwithme #planets #studygram #studylove #students
