I think it’s important to follow one or two people on Tumblr whose whole deal and vibe you hate because it expands your horizons and also gives you something to complain and be completely unrelatable about

🎼My boy builds bear dolls
he makes them all day
And it’s not just for work
And it isn’t for play
He’s made one for himself
One for me too
And one of these days
He’ll make one… for you🎶

Hey friends, just another reminder that your Spotify subscription funds war. This is the second time that Daniel Ek - CEO of spotify - has invested millions of Euros into AI defence company Helsing via his investment company which he was able to build thanks to the success of spotify. The wealth he has created through the money you thought was supporting artists is now being used to manufacture AI drones for war.
The need for weapons manufactures is complex, and not something I'll discuss here. But there are two things to keep in mind here.
Firstly that this is an investiment not a donation, meaning Daniel Ek is profiteering from war. The timing of this investment is by no means coincidental. We are literally on the brink of global - potentially nuclear - warfare, and this man's priority is how to profit from it.
Secondly, this is someone who has insisted that paying artists more is not possible. This is someone who has been fightng tooth and nail to pay artists less and less. From the fake artists scandal, to the dodgy deals with labels, to the decision to straight up not pay smaller artists, to the increase in AI music in their most popular playlists, Spotify has always been about paying out as little as possible to artists while offering a sub-par service to consumers. And now, those savings are being used to literally kill people.
What can you do to help?
The simple answer is cancel your subscription. Shifting to another streaming platform is a pain, but far less painful than having your limbs blown off by a rogue AI drone. Personally I recommend Tidal, but Apple Music, Deezer, and others are all available. Do some research and figure out what works best for you.
How can you better support musicians?
Again the simple answer is buy their music. Buy CDs and vinyls, or download music from iTunes (yes it still exists) or Bandcamp. Many musicians also use Patreon as a way to support them. If you're using Android, I highly recommend the app CloudPlayer which lets you stream the music you own from Dropbox/OneDrive/Google Drive.
Not only does buying music better support your favourite artists, it also frees you from a dependency on a tech company who could at any moment change the service they provide you. They can hike up prices, deny services, alter the quality or straight up go bankrupt and you'll lose everything. Buying that music means you own it, forever. As long as you back it up and keep it safe, it will always be yours, and without a continuous subscription. An album on iTunes or Bandcamp typically costs about €10.99 or there abouts, so you could be buying a new album every month for the price of your spotify subscription and honestly I think it's a better deal.
Don't let your love for music fund someone else's love for war and money.

I was thinking about how I have grown to value mandatory voting over a system that allows allegedly more freedom. Because in country, mandatory voting means I just have to send in a ballot. It can be empty or filled with the write in ballot "pickle farts" if I want.
If I go to the voting station all I have to do is get my name checked off. I don't have to vote if I don't want to.
But it means it is much more difficult for the government to try and suppress voters. Because voters have a legal obligation to go to the polls, so you can't restrict them or try tactics to dissuade them.
Voting polls are open long hours with access to food and water being a fairly standard staple. You don't need any form of ID, you have to be given time to go vote in work hours without penalty if you cannot do it after work hours.
Every now and then a politician tries some small way of voter suppression but it isn't as easy. And so I have learned to appreciate it.
But when I googled, out of curiosity, if the USA had ever had anything like that I was met with a barrage of websites talking about freedom and justice and the absolute liberty of Americans. I thought an eagle was going to bust out of the screen.
Going through some of these I noticed they were think tanks connected to billionaires, one of them was funded and created by the Koch brothers.
Gotta love how often the American "freedom" is actually used as a way to further deny actual freedoms, both linguistically and politically.

I wish they could invent a medical device that temporarily transfers your symptoms and pain to the doctor treating you and it worked like a shock collar. “I think light exercise would-.” and then bam they’re rolling around the floor clutching their stomach in agony and dry heaving.

Too many people will pass around "always trust your gut!" and "your intuition never lies" content when actually your "intuition" isn't immune to either propaganda, bigotry or trauma reactions. Which is important to be aware of actually
