CHAPTER 3 UP NOW!!
loveisland!au
episode 3
loveisland!matt x loveisland!scarlett

You wake up to the familiar hum of the villa, soft light filtering through the curtains. Matt's still asleep beside you, one arm flung over your waist, his hair tousled and mouth slightly open. You smile to yourself, careful not to wake him as you gently wiggle free and head to the dressing room.
Down by the pool later that morning, Matt, Dylan, and Ian sit on the loungers eating their breakfast.
“I’m telling you,” Dylan says, pushing his hair back, “this whole setup messes with your head. Like, you go from zero to obsessed in two days.”
Matt chuckles. “Facts. I thought I’d just chill the first couple days, but now I’m already in deep with Scarlett.”
Ian nods. “I’ve been vibing with Sadie. It’s early, yeah, but when you know, you kind of just… know?”
Matt stretches his arms. “It’s weird. I feel close to her already, but then Wyatt comes in and suddenly I’m overthinking everything.”
Dylan leans forward. “That’s normal, bro. You like her, but this place tests everything. Just stay real with her.”
Ian adds, “And don’t let the ego get in the way. If she wants to explore, let her. If it’s real, she’ll come back.”
Dylan adds, “Also, is it just me or does the villa mess with your brain even more when new people come in? Like I was chill with Olivia and now Kayla’s here and I’m second-guessing everything.”
Ian nods, swirling his coffee. “For real. It’s like emotional whiplash. But at the same time, it forces you to get honest, you know? About what you want, who you’re drawn to.”
Matt stares into his cup. “Yeah. That’s what’s throwing me. I didn’t expect to feel this strongly so fast.”
Dylan claps him on the back. “Hey. If it’s meant to go the distance, it will. Just don’t hold back what you’re feeling.”
Matt smiles faintly. “Yeah. I just don’t want to mess it up.”
Ian nods. “Then don’t. Just be real. That’s what matters most.”
Outside on the bean bags by the pool, you're lounging with Layla and Olivia. The sun is strong, but there’s a breeze, and your hair blows gently around your face as you sip from your watter bottle.
Layla stretches her legs out. “I swear, every day here feels like a week.”
“I know,” you say, adjusting your bikini strap. “But also… it kind of feels like we’ve known each other forever?”
Olivia grins. “Honestly, I needed you two. This place would be hell without you guys.”
You laugh. “Same. Like, I didn’t expect to connect with people this fast. Especially not with girls. Usually I’m guarded.”
Layla nudges you. “You’ve got a good vibe. No wonder Matt’s obsessed.”
You roll your eyes. “Okay, don’t start.”
Olivia leans in, her tone softening. “Real talk. You and Matt are cute. But Wyatt’s into you too. Do you know what you want?”
You sigh, playing with the edge of your towel. “I don’t know. Matt makes me feel safe, like he knows me inside and out. But Wyatt’s… fun. He me feel excited.”
Layla shares a look with Olivia. “That’s hot. But don’t lose yourself in either. You’re the prize.”
“Thanks, girls,” you say, genuinely touched. “I really mean it. Having you both here makes all this less overwhelming.”
Olivia shrugs. “That’s what we’re here for. Girl code.”
Layla smirks. “No matter how cute the boys are.”
Just then, Kennedy walks past, glancing toward the daybeds. “Uh… Scarlett?”
You follow her gaze and your stomach drops. Matt is down near the daybeds… with Kayla.
They’re sitting close, her hand brushing his arm as she laughs. Her glossy lips are parted in a flirtatious grin, and Matt is smiling, more polite than flirty, but he isn’t moving away either.
Layla raises an eyebrow. “What’s that about?”
Olivia shades her eyes. “She’s leaning in. Hard.”
You watch the way she tilts her head, the casual way she touches his knee, the toss of her hair.
Matt laughs at something she says. It’s not the same laugh he gives you. It’s softer, more measured.
“I don’t know,” you mutter. “But I’m not loving it.”
Kennedy says, “You gonna say something?”
You shake your head. “Not yet. I’ll wait and see if he brings it up.”
Layla gives your shoulder a squeeze. “Just don’t let her shake you. You’ve got something with him. She’s just talking to him.
“And flirting” you grumble.
“You guys are open though, you're exploring Wyatt too. He’s gonna be talking to girls as well” Kennedy tries to reason.
“I know” you sigh “doesnt mean i have to like it”
Later that day, Wyatt finds you in the kitchen.
“Got a minute?” he asks, his voice low and smooth.
You nod, gesturing for him to follow you to the couch
He settles in beside you, his shoulder touching yours “You looked a little off earlier. Everything okay?”
You shrug. “Just... trying to balance being open with not losing my mind.”
Wyatt watches you carefully. “This place messes with your head. But for what it’s worth, I think you’re handling it better than most.”
You glance over at him. “You think?”
“Definitely,” he says. “You’re grounded. Real. It’s refreshing. And yeah, I know you’ve got something with Matt, but I’m not gonna pretend I don’t want to be in his spot.”
That catches you off guard.
“I’m not trying to start drama,” he adds. “But I like you. And if there’s even a small chance you feel something too… I’m here.”
You’re quiet for a moment. “I definitely want to get to know you more. You make me…excited”
“Really?” He gives you a big smile.
You laugh softly. “Yes really”
He grins. “Good. Because I’m planning on sticking around. Just… remember I’m an option. A good one.”
You smirk. “Noted.
A loud ding echoes through the villa.
“TEXT!” Layla yells from the deck.
Everyone gathers as Layla reads it aloud.
“Islanders, it’s time to expose the truth. Head to the fire pit for ‘Dirty Laundry.’ #SpillIt #TruthHurts”
Soon, everyone’s changed into their challenge outfits, girls in bright bikinis and boys in matching colored shorts. The challenge area is bright and colorful, with laundry baskets, clothing lines, and props everywhere.
“Islanders! Welcome to Dirty Laundry! One at a time, you’ll hear a juicy secret. If you guess who it belongs to correctly, you win a point. If not be ready for a consequence. Let’s stir the pot!” Ariana grins
Everyone laughs nervously as the first secret pops up on screen: “This islander once ghosted someone and ran into them at their friend's grandma’s funeral.”
Kennedy steps forward. “That has Dylan written all over it.”
Wrong. Bubbles blast her.
“It was Layla!” Ariana reveals.
Layla cringes. “I panicked! I didn’t know he was a grandson!”
Laughter erupts.
“This islander once got dumped because their ex found out they were secretly DMing a celebrity.”
Matt guesses Olivia. He’s right. She shrugs. “It was a one-time thing!”
“This islander still sleeps with a stuffed animal.”
You guess Matt, and you’re correct. He grins sheepishly.
“It’s a pug. Don’t judge me.”
You smile wide. “I’d never.”
“This islander once got kicked out of a club for dancing naked on a table”
Laughter erupts.
“I’m guessing… Dylan?” Olivia says.
“Correct!”
Dylan bows. “What can I say? I wanted to dance with less restraints.”
“This islander ghosted someone after a third date… and then ran into them at a family wedding.”
Groans and cringing follow.
You laugh. “Layla.”
Layla gasps. “Okay, yeah, that was me. It was my cousin’s old roommate. I nearly died.”
“This islander’s biggest turn-on is being told what to do.”
Wyatt steps forward with a smirk. “Scarlett.”
Your eyes widen with a blush. “Oh god”
He winks. “Just a guess.”
“Well you are correct!” Ariana cheers.
Matt stiffens next to you but stays quiet.
Later that night, you and Matt find a quiet spot up on the balcony, away from the others. The sky is deep blue, stars just starting to peek out, and a warm breeze flows through the air.
You sit beside him, your legs tucked up beneath you. “So… I wanted to talk.”
He turns toward you, brows furrowed slightly. “Yeah?”
You take a breath. “Today was kind of weird for me. Seeing you with Kayla.”
Matt exhales, rubbing the back of his neck. “She pulled me for a chat. I didn’t want to be rude.”
“I get that,” you say honestly. “But it still didn’t feel great to watch. And you didn’t even tell me. I know I’m doing the same thing with Wyatt, but I’m trying to be upfront with you”
“I’m sorry,” he says quickly. “I didn’t mean to upset you. I should’ve told you it happened instead of letting you find out that way.”
You nod slowly. “I’m not mad. I just… I want to be honest about where my head’s at.”
Matt meets your gaze, his expression is unreadable. “Okay.”
You fidget slightly with the hem of your dress. “I really like what we have. I feel something with you that I haven’t felt in a long time. But I also feel like I need to be fair to myself. Wyatt’s shown interest, and I owe it to myself to see if there’s something there too.”
Matt stays quiet for a long moment, just watching you. “So… you want to explore both of us?”
You nod, slowly. “I don’t want to hurt you, Matt. I just want to do this the right way. I came here to be open and find something real, and I’m still very interested in you. I still feel like we’ve got something special.”
He looks down for a second, then back up at you. “I get it. And I’m not gonna lie, it stings a little. But I respect you for saying it. For being honest.”
You reach for his hand, lacing your fingers with his. “I want to keep getting to know you. I’m not pulling away, I’m just trying to stay true to how I feel.”
Matt gives a small nod. “Okay. Then I’ll be real too. I want to keep getting to know you. But I want to try and talk to Kayla more.
“That’s okay,” you say softly, even though it hurts to hear. “I just want you to be happy”
He squeezes your hand. “Let’s just promise to talk to each other. Even when it’s messy.”
“Deal.” You smile. “You’re still who I want to be sharing a bed with though” You reassure him.
“I couldn't agree more” He smiles as he leans over to wrap his arms around you in a hug.
For a moment, you just lay there, bodies intertwined, letting the quiet settle around you.
Later that night, the girls are gathered around the dressing room table unwinding after a long day.
Layla fans herself with her hands. “Okay, can we all agree today has been emotionally exhausting?”
Olivia lets out a loud sigh, leaning back in her chair. “I’m still not over the challenge. That was chaos.”
Kennedy twists her lip treatment tube. “It was revealing. Literally and emotionally.”
You laugh, putting your hair into a bun. “Wyatt’s got a way of making things more complicated than they need to be.”
Sadie arches a brow at you. “Is that a bad thing or a good thing?”
You shrug. “Depends on the moment. He’s definitely intriguing. But I still feel like Matt’s where my head’s at. Mostly.”
Kennedy gives you a side eye. “Mostly?”
“I mean… I want to keep things open. I don’t want to make promises I’m not ready to keep. But Matt makes me feel something real.”
Olivia nods slowly. “You’re navigating it right. There’s no rulebook here.”
Layla nudges you with her shoulder. “Just make sure you don’t let a good thing slip away.”
You smile softly. “I’m trying not to.”
Kennedy leans in and whispers. “And if Kayla pulls Matt for a chat again?”
Your eyes flick toward Kayla. “It’ll probably be him asking her. He told me he wants to talk to her more” You roll your eyes.
“Really? After you told him about Wyatt?” Kennedy gasps.
‘Yeah, it just felt like the second I told him I'm interested in getting to know someone else he goes running to another girl. It’s fine that he's exploring, but the way he brought it up felt really weird. I dunno I’m probably just being dramatic” you brush it off
“Girl no you’re not. I would be upset too” Kennedy reassures you.
“It just came out of nowhere y'know? Like he didn't even tell me he talked to her, I had to bring it up” you sigh, realizing how much this actually bothered you.
“Well I’m here if you ever need to talk, or complain about Matt. I love shitting on men” she smiles as she reaches out to squeeze your hand,
“That means a lot. And I’m here for you too. We gotta stick together” You smile as you both stand up to walk into the bedroom together.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ bathroom, the guys are brushing teeth, fixing their hair, and sharing stupid jokes.
Ian squints at himself in the mirror. “Be honest. Do I look like I use too much gel?”
Dylan grins. “You look like a 2003 boyband reject.”
Matt snorts, rinsing his mouth. “Nah, you look sharp. You just need to stop checking yourself out every five seconds.”
Ian shrugs. “You never know who’s watching.”
Matt glances toward the hallway. “Scarlett’s been on my mind all day.”
Dylan leans on the counter. “You guys talked yet?”
Matt nods. “Yeah, she’s still figuring things out. Which… I get. But watching her with Wyatt?”
Ian nods. “It sucks, but you’ve got to give her space”
Matt sighs. “I know. I told her I was gonna talk to Kayla more”
“Oh shit really? What’d she say” Dylan raises his eyebrows as Ian's mouth drops open.
“She said I just want you to be happy” Matt quotes.
“My brother. You're in deep shit” Ian says, patting him on the back.
“Wait, what do you mean? She seemed fine” Matt starts to panic.
Ian and Dylan laugh as they walk out of the bathroom “Guys come back! What do you mean?” Matt raises his voice.
You’re already in bed, curled under the duvet, facing Matt as he walks over. He climbs in beside you, settling into the pillows.
He notices a look in your eyes, one he hasn't seen before.
“You okay?” he asks softly, brushing a piece of hair from your face.
You nod. “Yeah.”
He pauses. “Are you upset with me?”
You hesitate, then shake your head. “No.”
He watches you for another moment, unsure whether to push further.
“Okay, goodnight,” Matt says gently.
You give him a soft “Night,” but after a moment, you turn over, your back to him.
He stares at the ceiling, sighing quietly. His hand hovers, like he wants to reach for you, but he lets it fall.

episode two
loveisland!matt x loveisland!scarlett

You wake up to the soft light bleeding through the villa windows and the quiet rustle of girls moving around. The sheets are still warm, and Matt’s arm is slung lazily over your waist. You lay still for a second, eyes fluttering open as you shift slightly, glancing at Matt. His eyes are still closed, lips parted just slightly, the rise and fall of his chest is calm. His bare skin is warm where it touches yours, and for a moment you stay still, watching the way the light touches the side of his face.
"You watching me sleep?" he mumbles, voice thick with sleep.
You're caught. You smirk, stretching. "Just enjoying the view"
He chuckles, eyes still mostly shut. "Good answer."
You linger a moment longer, his hand trailing lightly along your hip under the covers.
"You’re warm," he murmurs. "I could stay like this all morning."
"Then how would you make me breakfast?" you tease.
"I didn’t even think about that" he dramatically gasps as you let out a soft laugh.
Eventually, you slip out of bed and head towards the dressing room. You change into a light pink bikini and put your hair into braids.
Layla’s sitting in front of the mirror, brushing her brows. “So how was everyone’s first night?”
Olivia groans. “Dylan rolls around so much. I swear he kicked me in his sleep.”
“He looks like the type to kick,” Sadie says, holding back a laugh.
“Ian talks in his sleep,” Layla adds. “Like full sentences. At one point he said something about a hamster. I was scared.”
You laugh, touching up your makeup. “Matt doesn’t snore. So I guess I’ll take the win.”
Kennedy raises a brow. “Did he try anything?”
You shake your head. “No, he was chill. We kinda just… talked a bit, then fell asleep.”
Olivia points her mascara wand at you. “So you’re into him.”
“I mean, he’s sweet,” you say, fiddling with a lip gloss. “We’re still figuring it out.”
“Yeah,” Layla says, “but the way you look at each other…”
Just then there’s a knock on the dressing room door.
“Room service!” Dylan calls from the hallway.
You all exchange surprised glances as all the boys walk in.
The boys stand there, shirtless of course, with breakfast in their hands. Pancakes, fruit, scrambled eggs, even some slightly burnt toast.
“For you” Logan says with a grin, holding a tray out to Sadie.
Matt steps forward and hands you a tray. “Hope you like pineapple. I sliced it for like twenty minutes.”
You grin and take the tray, your fingers brushing his. “Wow. Presentation’s a 10.”
He smiles. “You deserve a 10.”
You turn back toward the girls, suppressing a smile. Layla mouths, He’s obsessed with you.
—————————————————
After breakfast, the villa settles into a lazy rhythm.
The sun’s hot but not unbearable, and everyone sprawls out in swimsuits by the pool. Kennedy’s lounging in a daybed with sunglasses too big for her face. Ian and Logan are kicking a ball back and forth across the grass.
You’re lounging by the pool, sunglasses sliding down your nose, your legs dipped into the cool water. Matt sits beside you, feet submerged, knees brushing yours.
“You sleep okay?” he asks, tilting his head toward you.
“Yeah,” you say, sipping your water. “It was... nice. You didn’t hog the covers, so that’s a win.”
He smiles lazily. “I try to be a gentleman.”
You turn your head to meet his gaze. There’s something in the way he’s looking at you that makes your heart go faster. "So. Honest moment?"
He nods "Shoot."
"You were kind of nervous last night, huh?"
His eyes narrow playfully. "You clocked that?"
You nudge his leg. "Little bit. But it was cute."
He leans back on his hands, looking up at the sky. "Guess I didn’t expect to walk in and immediately click with someone. Kind of threw me off."
You feel his pinky brush yours, deliberate this time.
"Well... I’m glad you were thrown off."
Your phone buzzes next to you.
You gasp before exclaiming “I got a text!”
Everyone rushes over to you as you read it aloud: “Islanders, it’s time to test your connection with a cheeky challenge. Please gather at the fire pit. #KissAndTell #MysteryMatch”
—————————————————
The group heads over to a vibrant pink challenge setup near the fire pit. A circular platform, plush chairs, and Ariana standing at the head of it.
“Hello Islanders! Ready to get steamy?” Ariana says as everyone cheers.
“Each islander will be blindfolded and kiss three people, one of them being their current couple. Then, you’ll try to guess which kiss came from your partner. Let’s see who really knows their connection.” she presents.
Dylan starts. Blindfold on, he’s kissed by Olivia, Kennedy, and Layla. His grin widens with each kiss. When he guesses Kennedy as his match, everyone laughs, he’s wrong.
Layla’s turn: her blindfold is tied delicately, and she receives three kisses, Logan, Dylan, Matt. She tilts her head thoughtfully before picking Dylan. This time, right.
The laughter builds, each islander getting a turn. When it’s yours, your heart pounds. The blindfold goes on.
You sense the first kiss coming, light, cautious. The second one is confident, hands steady at your waist, his lips firmer, purposeful. The third has you melting slightly into it, a slow burn, familiar hands gripping your waist, deep enough to leave you dazed.
When the blindfold comes off, your cheeks are flushed.
“Alright Scarlett,” Ariana smiles. “Which kiss was Matt?”
You don’t hesitate. “The last one.”
Matt’s smile confirms it.
“Now… did you really think that would be it?” Ariana smirks as two new bombshells walk in behind her.
Everyone looks around. Two new islanders stride in, Kayla, with sleek black hair and heels clicking dramatically, and Wyatt, a tall brunette with a cocky grin.
“Islanders, please welcome the new bombshells Kayla and Wyatt! They’ll be participating in the challenge… by kissing everyone.” Ariana smiles as the bombshells stand next to her.
Groans, gasps, and cheers break out.
Kayla struts forward, picking her first target, Logan. Then Ian. Then Harry.
Her kiss with Harry draws out slightly, and you look over at Kennedy to see her watching with a frown.
Then Wyatt steps up. He kisses all the girls, then finally you.
You barely process the first kiss before his hand returns to your hip, pulling you in again. The second kiss is deeper, intentionally longer.
“You taste like trouble,” he murmurs as he steps back.
You blink, regaining your footing. You look over at Matt, to see him looking at you with a soft smile that doesn’t fully reach his eyes.
“I hope you enjoyed those kisses. That concludes today's challenge. Islanders, I will see you soon” Ariana says before leaving the villa.
—————————————————
The girls gather with Kayla on the couch as the boys head to the kitchen with Wyatt.
“So, Kayla,” Olivia starts “What’s your first impression of everyone?”
Kayla smirks. “Honestly? Strong vibes. I’m a fan of confidence, and Harry’s got that cheeky energy. Very sexy.”
Kennedy tilts her head. “Anyone else catch your eye?”
“Maybe Ian,” Kayla admits. “He’s grounded. But Harry's the one I felt something with, even just from that kiss.”
Layla exchanges a look with Kennedy. “And if he’s already forming a connection?”
Kayla meets Kennedy’s gaze briefly. “Then I guess I have to find out if it's strong enough.”
You smirk softly. “Well, you’ll definitely shake things up.”
Kayla laughs. “That’s the plan, babe.”
Meanwhile, over in the kitchen, the boys stand in a loose circle with Wyatt leaning against the counter, arms crossed.
“So, what do you think of the villa so far?” Logan asks him.
Wyatt chuckles. “Honestly? It’s gorgeous. But the girls... even more gorgeous .”
Dylan grins. “Got your eye on anyone?”
“Scarlett,” Wyatt says, glancing toward you. “There’s something about her. She’s got this energy that’s calm but intense. Makes you want to know more.”
Matt says nothing, just sips his water, eyes steady on Wyatt.
“Bold move,” Ian remarks.
“I’m not here to step on toes,” Wyatt says coolly. “But we’re all here to explore our options. It’s only day two”
Logan nods. “Fair.”
“Just trying to have honest conversations. See where things go.” Wyatt says.
As the boys keep talking, Wyatt makes his way over to you.
“Scarlett, mind if we have a proper chat?”
You nod and follow Wyatt toward the sunbeds. Matt watches as Wyatt puts his hand on your back, softly guiding you.
“I just wanted to say you are gorgeous. You’ve got this quiet intensity. It’s rare,” Wyatt says as you both sit down.
You smile. “Quiet intensity. That’s a new one.”
He grins. “I meant it as a compliment. You seem grounded. Real. And that’s rare.”
You glance at him thoughtfully. “Thanks. I try to stay true to myself. Even with all this going on.”
Wyatt leans forward a bit. “What are you really hoping to get out of this?”
“Something real. A connection that doesn’t feel like a performance,” you say honestly.
He nods. “That’s what I want too. Someone who matches my energy but challenges me, in a good way.”
“So you’re coupled up with Matt correct? How's that going?” he asks.
“It’s going really well. It’s still early though” you smile.
He smirks. “That's good to know. I’m definitely interested in you. And I’d like to get to know you more.”
You meet his eyes. There’s no cockiness there, just steady curiosity.
“I appreciate that,” you say quietly. “I’m open to exploring too, but honestly I want to focus on Matt right now.”
“I get it,” he says with a small smile. “But I’ll be around, no pressure”
—————————————————
The sun dips lower as the evening settles in, casting a soft glow across the villa. In the dressing room, the girls are gathered in front of the mirror, heels clicking as they move about in a flurry of hair curlers, perfume, and colorful dresses.
You smooth down your black satin dress and swipe on lip gloss while Layla adjusts her hoop earrings.
“Okay, can we talk about that challenge?” Kennedy says, brushing highlighter on her cheeks. “Because I am still recovering.”
“Same,” Olivia says, tossing her hair over her shoulder. “Also, Scarlett and Wyatt.”
All eyes turn to you. You pause mid-mascara. “What about him?”
“Come on,” Layla grins. “You two were in your own little world after the challenge.”
You laugh softly. “He’s nice. Really confident. I’m... intrigued.”
“But?” Kennedy prompts.
You sigh, glancing at yourself in the mirror. “I still feel something with Matt. I don’t want to ignore that just because someone new came in.”
Olivia smirks. “So you're in a triangle already. Love Island bingo.”
You roll your eyes, smiling. “I just want to explore it all properly. No rushing.”
Everyone finishes getting ready and heads down the villa stairs. The boys are already gathered at the bottom, watching. Matt’s in a white button-up and black pants, arms crossed loosely, eyes locking with yours the moment you hit the last step.
He straightens up as you approach, offering his hand without hesitation. You take it, your fingers slipping into his easily.
“Wow,” he murmurs. “You look amazing”
“Thank you. So do you,” you smile as you lightly squeeze his hand.
Together, you and the other couples walk toward the table near the fire pit, grabbing your small glasses of wine.
You lean toward Matt, your hand still in his. “Can we have a quick chat?”
He nods immediately, and the two of you break off from the group and head up the stairs to soul ties.
“Been a long day,” he says as he helps you sit down on the plush couch.
“Yeah,” you say, leaning into him. “I just wanted to check in. With everything going on, new people coming in…”
He nods. “Wyatt.”
You meet his eyes. “He’s nice. But I still feel something with you. And I want to keep exploring that.”
Matt exhales, nodding slowly. “I feel the same. I mean, if you want to get to know him, I get it. But… I’m not gonna lie, I don’t love the idea of losing this.”
You shake your head. “You’re not losing anything. You’re still who I want to share a bed with”
He studies you for a moment, then gently reaches up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. “Good.”
You smile, eyes flicking to his.
He leans in slowly, giving you plenty of time to pull away, but you don’t. Your lips meet, warm and soft at first, his hand resting lightly on your waist. But as you deepen the kiss, your fingers curl into the collar of his shirt, and his other hand slides to the small of your back, pulling you closer. He pulls you on top of him, your knees now resting on either side of him without breaking the kiss. Matt's hand moves to graze over your jaw. His other hand moves to grip you by the hip, pulling you closer against him as he groans into your mouth. You can feel yourself quickly heating up, his hands on your waist and the taste of him sending a shiver up your spine.
When you finally pull apart, both of you are slightly breathless with soft smiles on your face.
You giggle as you fall against him, laying on his chest as he wraps an arm around your shoulder.
“I’ve been waiting to do that again” he says softly as he moves his thumb across your shoulder.
“Me too” you smile “we should probably head back down there though”
He nods as he stands up, grabbing your hands to pull you up.
Together, you head back towards everyone else.
—————————————————
Later that night, the villa hums with quiet energy as couples begin settling into their beds.
Matt’s already in bed, shirtless, one arm propped behind his head, the duvet pulled halfway up. He watches the doorway, eyes lighting up the second he sees you.
You do a playful little jog toward the bed, your bare feet padding softly against the floor. You giggle as you hop into bed beside him.
He laughs softly, pulling the covers over both of you as you snuggle in close.
“Couldn’t sleep without you,” he murmurs, wrapping his arm securely around your waist.
You settle into his chest, cheek resting against his skin. “I bet you say that to all the girls.”
“Only the ones who kiss me like you do.” he says as you lightly slap his chest
“Night, everyone,” Dylan's voice drifts from the bed across the room.
“Night,” Sadie and Kennedy echo.
The lights dim until the room is dark, the only sound is the faint whirring of the air conditioner and the rustle of sheets.
Under the covers, Matt’s hand drifts to your hip, fingers moving slowly along your side. You shift slightly, meeting his gaze in the darkness.
He pulls the covers over both of your heads and then you're kissing again, slowly at first, sweet and unhurried. But it deepens quickly, your hand sliding up his chest while his palm rests on your cheek.
Your mouths move together, lips parting and reconnecting, breath warm between you.
Matt’s hand moves to the small of your back, drawing you even closer until your legs are tangled beneath the sheets.
He kisses you like he means it, like he’s been thinking about it all day, and maybe he has. You match his energy, your hand curling into his hair as the kiss turns hungry for a few more seconds.
Then, slowly, you both settle back against the pillows, still wrapped in each other’s arms.
“Night, Scarlett,” he whispers, his voice low and warm.
“Night, Matt,” you murmur back, your smile brushing against his skin.
You fall asleep like that, tangled together under the sheet, unaware of what's to come.

loveisland!au
episode one
loveisland!matt x loveisland!scarlett

You step out of the car, walking into the villa, your sandals clicking lightly against the tile as the fiji sun soaks into your bare shoulders. Your heart’s thudding hard in your chest but you try to keep your cool. Deep breath in, shoulders back.
The villa is massive, white and sleek and glowing in the light, all neon signs and beanbags and a pool so clear it looks fake. You blink for a second like you’re dreaming.
“Holy shit,” you mumble under your breath, adjusting the strap on your blue mini dress. You're the first person in, so you head over to the table and pour yourself a glass of champagne. Everything feels a little too perfect, like a movie set.
And then you hear it, the sound of heels clicking behind you.
“Oh my god, you’re so pretty,” a girl calls out, practically jogging over. She's blonde, bouncy, and already giving you a hug.
You laugh and hug her back. “Wait, stop, you’re literally stunning. I'm Scarlett.”
“I'm Olivia. It's so nice to meet you girl!” she says with a big smile
The two of you barely finish your intros before more girls come through one after another, all looking like they stepped out of a pinterest board. Layla has big black curls, winged eyeliner sharp enough to cut, and a major cool girl vibe. Sadie is tall and pale with freckles, already giving off sarcastic older sister energy. Kennedy shows up last in a two-piece outfit with cutouts and walks like she owns the place.
You’re all standing in a loose little circle, sipping champagne from plastic flutes and trying not to look nervous.
“So what are we hoping for?” Layla asks, flipping her curls.
“A tall man with nice teeth who actually listens when I talk,” Olivia says immediately.
“Someone that isn’t just hot but also has the personality,” you say, glancing around the villa. “but honestly… hot is a good start.”
“I'm trying not to get my hopes up,” Sadie mutters. “these men better not be giving frat trust fund bro.’”
Kennedy laughs, eyes scanning the upper terrace. “If he's wearing a chain and has a one-word tattoo on his collarbone, I'm walking.”
Just then, a familiar voice rings out.
“Ladies!”
You turn to see Ariana Madix walking down the stairs in a white jumpsuit and gold heels, practically glowing.
“Oh my god, she’s even hotter in person,” Olivia whispers to you.
You nod, starstruck.
Ariana stops in front of you all, smiling.
“Welcome to Love Island USA,” she says, her voice smooth and confident. “In just a little bit, five boys will walk into this villa, and tonight you’ll each be coupling up with one of them.”
You all let out a collective squeal, nerves flaring.
“You’ll get a few hours to chat with them, get to know them, and when the sun sets… the boys will choose who they want to couple up with”. She smiles, letting the tension hang in the air.
“Alright, I'll see you all at the fire pit at sunset. Have fun, and remember anything can happen in this villa.”
And with that, she’s gone.
You take another sip of your champagne. “Okay. this is real. This is happening.”
-----------------------------------------
The boys arrive one by one.
First is Dylan, brown short hair, tanned skin, and clearly loving the attention. He shoots you all a wink and flexes on purpose.
You glance at Sadie, who immediately whispers, “He seems like trouble”
Then comes Logan, tall, tan, with shaggy blonde hair and a laid-back surfer vibe. He seems quieter, chill. His eyes land on Sadie and don’t leave for a while.
Ian walks in next, gold chain, flirty smile, with a chicago accent. “Ladies,” he says, smirking, giving all of you once-overs. He's charming. and he knows it.
Harry comes in after that, a brit, more serious-looking. Scruff, sharp jawline, and sleeves of tattoos. You can’t tell if he’s shy or mysterious, but you know he’s the type that girls always go for.
And then… the fifth boy walks in.
Matt.
Your breath catches a little in your throat. He's got brown hair that falls perfectly across his forehead, piercing blue eyes, and a clean black tee that hugs his chest just enough. Not bulky, not flashy. Just… quietly hot. His gaze moves across the group until it lands on you. He holds it for half a second too long.
“Okay, wow,” you whisper under your breath, barely audible.
You’re not sure if anyone heard you, but matt definitely clocked the way you looked at him.
He makes his way over while the other boys mingle.
“Hey,” he says, stopping in front of you. His voice is soft but low, almost calm.
You blink, trying not to seem flustered. “Hey. I'm Scarlett.”
“Matt,” he says, offering his hand. you shake it, and he smirks a little.
“Hey everyone lets toast” Olivia interrupts raising her glass. “To a summer of love and friendship. We’re on love island bitches!” she laughs as everyone cheers.
-----------------------------------------
It wasn’t long until Matt was tapping on your shoulder and asking you for a chat. Resting a gentle hand on your back he guides you over to the cabana.
“So how are you feelin? I mean this place is pretty awesome” he says leaning back slightly against the plush couch. “You look stunning by the way” he adds, trying to hide the way he looks you up and down.
“Thank you Matt” you smile as you rest your hand on his arm “It's a lot, but I'm really excited for this summer”.
He smiles at the way your hand brushed against him. “I’m pretty excited too. Everyone here is gorgeous but you’re like… the best looking girl here” he chuckles leaning a little closer.
“Oh I don’t know about that. Everyone here is like way too pretty” you slightly blush as you let out a giggle.
He laughs with you, shaking his head. “They’re pretty, sure, but not as gorgeous as you. They’ve got nothing on you” he grins, taking in your features and noticing the way your eyes glimmer.
“Your trouble aren’t you” you tilt your head with a smirk.
He chuckles, loving the way you're playfully teasing him. “Trouble? Me? Never. I’m just being honest” he says trying to look upset but failing to control his smirk.
“So… tell me about yourself” you smile as you feel him shift, bringing himself a little closer to you.
“Well I’m 22 and I live in Boston. I’m a triplet, my brothers are Chris and Nick. Um I bartend, which is actually super fun. I love a good sports game, music, y’know stuff like that” he pauses for a second before continuing, his hand reaching out lightly to graze your thigh. “Anything else you wanna know?”
“What are you looking for here?” you decide to ask.
He leans back a bit and thinks about the question for a moment, tilting his head to the side as he looks over your features. “Well, I'm definitely not looking for a meaningless hookup. I’m just hoping I can find something authentic here if that makes sense”
“So you're looking for love?”
“I mean, yeah. I just want to find my forever person you know? And maybe I’ve already found her” he smirks, bringing his hand up to brush a loose strand of hair from your face.
“Shut up” you laugh playfully hitting his shoulder. He chuckles and pretends to grab at where you hit him, wincing dramatically.
“So what about you Scarlett. What makes you you?” he asks as his hand moves to your thigh. He can't help it, and he could tell by the slight blush on your cheeks that you didn't mind it.
“Well I’m 21 and I’m from Los Angeles. I’m a model, which has been my dream for like, ever. I’m really into music, I love going to live shows. I love fashion too, I’m a big thrifter” you say as you watch him listen with a small smile on his face.
“I could have definitely guessed you're a model” he smirks as his hand moves in little circles on your thigh “so what are you here for?” he asks, repeating your question.
“I’m just trying to find the guy that will sweep me off my feet”
He smiles, already thinking about how he can do that. He's never had any trouble with women, he's charming and has his way with words. But with you it feels… easier, like he doesn't have to try too hard.
“Noted” he grins and nudges his shoulders against yours. “You're so beautiful” he almost whispers.
“Stop it” you giggle shielding your face.
He laughs along with you but tries to bring your hands back down, wanting to see your face properly. “Stop what? Don't cover that beautiful smile” he grins.
“Youre such a sweet talker” you say as you rest your hand on top of his on your thigh.
He feels a flutter in his stomach feeling your hand on his. He's loving every second of this interaction, he's a little shocked by just how into you he is after such a short time. He's the one to usually be more nonchalant but something about you is making him feel weak.
“Oh come on, I'm just telling you the truth, I can't help it” he grins.
“Hey Scarlett, can I pull you for a chat?” you hear Logan say as he approaches you.
“Yeah of course” you say, giving Matt's hand a squeeze as you stand up.
Matt immediately feels a bit annoyed having to part from you already. ‘I’ll see you in a bit” he gives you a soft smile as you walk away with Logan.
-----------------------------------------
The hours fly by. You chat with all the boys, Logan's funny once you get him talking, Dylan is a little too much but not in a bad way, and Ian is honestly too charming for his own good.
But you just can’t get Matt out of your head.
After dinner wraps up and the sun starts dipping, casting the whole villa in soft glow, you and the girls drift toward the makeup room, some touching up their lipgloss, others sitting cross-legged on the floor, heels kicked off for a moment of peace.
“Okay,” Olivia says, looking around at all of you, “We have to talk. the boys. thoughts. now.”
“I’ll start,” Sadie says, holding up a hand like she’s in school. “Logan's cute. Like, in a chill kind of way. I actually feel like I can talk to him without throwing up.”
“He was definitely into you,” Kennedy says. “He barely looked at anyone else once he sat down with you.”
“True,” Sadie hums. “So... if he picks me, I wouldn't be mad.”
“Dylan is cute,” Olivia says, twisting a ring on her finger. “He’s flirty, but not too much. I feel like we clicked.”
“He was glued to your hip by the pool,” Layla grins. “He barely even flirted with me after talking to you.”
“Okay, what about Harry?" Kennedy asks, brushing through her hair. “He's... intense.”
“Intense hot or intense serial killer?” Sadie jokes.
“Honestly both,” layla says, laughing. “But I wouldn’t mind being stuck in bed next to that face, I'll be real.”
“Ian is my type to a t,” Layla admits. “He's funny and talks with his hands. I'm into it.”
“Yeah and he’s flirty,” Olivia nods. “Dangerous flirty.”
They all turn to look at you.
You blink. “What?”
“Don't play dumb,” Olivia smirks. “Matt. The eye contact. The quiet giggles. The touching”
“You guys were vibing,” Layla adds. “Don’t even lie.”
You feel your cheeks heat. “Okay... yeah. I like him.”
“He's so mysterious,” Sadie says. “Like, not in a ‘he has commitment issues’ way. More like... ‘he’s secretly a writer’ energy.”
“yeah, he’s sweet once you crack the shell,” you say, a little dreamy without meaning to. “We just… clicked.”
“He better pick you tonight,” Olivia says. “I’ll throw hands if he doesn’t.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “No pressure.”
“So final predictions?” Kennedy asks. “Who's picking who?”
“Logan's picking Sadie," Layla says confidently. “Dylan's picking Olivia. Ian… hopefully me.”
“I have no clue about Harry,” Sadie mutters.
“But Matt's picking Scarlett,” Olivia says like it’s already done. “No doubt.”
You chew your lip, heart fluttering.
“I hope so,” you say softly.
-----------------------------------------
You’re all called to the fire pit, heels clicking against the stone as Ariana reappears in a red dress.
“Alright, islanders,” she says, eyes scanning the group. “It’s time for our first coupling of the season.”
Everyone stands in a nervous little clump as the boys are told they’ll be choosing tonight.
You glance at Matt.
He looks back with a soft smile.
"Matt, you’re up first."
He stands up, hands in his pockets, standing in front of the fire pit as everyone watches him. The flames flicker against his face. He looks calm, but focused.
“i’d like to couple up with this girl because… she’s the only one i’ve really felt comfortable around since the moment I walked in. She’s confident, she’s funny, and I already know i’d regret not sleeping next to her tonight.”
He pauses, eyes landing on you.
“The girl I'd like to couple up with is… Scarlett.”
Your heart skips.
You walk over to him with a big smile on your face, one that matches his.
You stand next to him, shoulder brushing his.
“You good?” he murmurs.
You nod. “Better now.”
Logan chooses Sadie, says he loves how “real” she is and that she “doesn’t fake laugh at his dumb jokes.”
Ian picks Layla, calls her “firey in the best way.”
Dylan picks Olivia, says she’s “hot, obviously, but also cool as hell.”
And Harry is left with Kennedy, which she seems completely fine with.
Ariana steps forward again.
“Congratulations, couples. You'll now be sharing a bed with your partner for the first night in the villa. Make it count.”
You feel Matt glance at you.
“Do you snore?” he asks.
“Only if I'm bored,” you joke.
“Guess I better be interesting then” he smirks.
-----------------------------------------
Everyone heads towards the villa to get ready for bed. You change into a tank top and soft pajama shorts, hair pulled back, barefaced.
You slide into the bed next to Matt, the duvet cool against your legs. He's already laying there, one arm behind his head, shirt off, looking too good for someone you just met.
“I feel like this is the weirdest sleepover ever,” you whisper.
“Definitely top five,” he says.
You laugh, rolling onto your side to face him as he does the same.
He reaches under the covers and gently brushes his fingers across the back of your hand. You let him interlock them with yours.
“Night, Scarlett”.
“Night, Matt".
⋅˚₊‧ authors note ahhhh i love them already!! It's kinda hard to write episodes like love island because I feel like I leave sooo much out but I wanna make it as realistic as possible! If your watching season 7 rn I want their vibe to be like Charlie and Hannah, super touchy and playful with instant sparks. Butttt there will definitely be drama cominggg! i know love
"Yeah, I know love when it hits, when it feels like this" tate mcrae ft the kid laroi

the studio is dimly lit, the soft glow from the LED lights casting a purple haze across the room. the faint scent of weed clings to the air, mixing with the scent of chris’ cologne. he’s leaning back in his chair, hoodie loose on his frame, silver chain hanging around his neck. he’s got a joint between his fingers, his head slightly bobbing to the beat playing low in the background.
“aight, what’s up?” he asks, lips curling into a smirk as he exhales a slow cloud of smoke. “why you got that look?”
you bite your lip, holding your phone with your voice memos app pulled up. “i wanna play you something,” you say, your voice carrying a mix of excitement and nerves.
his brows lift, intrigued. “bet.” he leans forward, elbows resting on his knees as you airdrop the file to the computer. you press play, nervous to see his reaction to a song about him.
the song starts with your voice with a fire beat behind it, carrying the kind of heat that makes his grip on the joint tighten.
he said no lie, girl you’re looking sexy on a magazine but what you doing after the photos?
Looks like I’ll be in the covers with you practicing a new kind of promo
I said baby if you want I’ll give you something you can hold on You can feel for now, yeah
he grins, running his tongue over his bottom lip. “this about me?”
you roll your eyes, but your smirk gives it away. “just listen.”
as the song plays, he hears it. the way you've crafted every lyric around him, the way the melody wraps around your voice perfectly. when the hook comes in, he closes his eyes, letting the sound wash over him.
i know love when it hits, when it hits, when it hits…
his head tilts, nodding in time with the beat. “this shits fire, baby.”
you let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding. “i want you on it.”
his eyes snap open. “wait really?”
you nod, shifting in your chair, your knee knocking against his. “yeah I want you on a verse, it only makes sense since you inspire it, you should be on it.”
he exhales, his smirk widening. “say less.”
he leans over, grabbing his phone from the table. you watch as plays the song back listening to the open verse, lips pursed, eyes scanning his phone like he’s waiting for the words to come to him.
minutes pass, then he starts typing out bars like second nature. he mumbles under his breath, testing flows, his fingers drumming against his thigh. you watch, mesmerized. you love seeing him like this before, completely lost in the music.
“got it,” he mutters after 30 minutes. he looks at you, eyes glinting with something unreadable. “lemme test it out.”
you grin, sliding your chair back as he steps into the booth. he adjusts the headphones, clearing his throat before the beat kicks in. you lean forward, heart hammering as you watch him through the glass.
the moment he starts rapping, a slow grin spreads across your face.
we started off friends, how we end up here i don’t know, but i don’t see no problems…
We started off friends, how you end up here next to me
Honestly this shit is crazy
I said you’re my type Out in Mexico tonight
You said it was gon be quick Now we’re 12 months in so
Everybody needs somebody they can hold down
Girl stop acting like you’re tough and let your guard down
his voice melts into the track, his voice smooth and effortless. you bite your lip, warmth spreading through your chest as he delivers every line with that confidence of his. when he finishes, he pulls off the headphones, looking at you through the glass with a smirk.
you press the talk button. “one more take.”
he chuckles. “yeah?”
“yeah.”
he shakes his head, smirking. “say less.”
another take. then another. you both fine-tune the layers, adjusting the ad-libs, letting the track build into something bigger, something theirs. by the time you're done, the sun is barely peeking through the blinds, and you're slumped back in the chairs, listening to the mix.
New love, new plans, new script, yeah it's only the beginning but it's happening quick, boy
New nails, new hair, new tricks, new positions that I put you on and then I put you in like
chris exhales, running a hand through his hair. “damn.”
you lean your head back against the chair, eyes fluttering shut as you soak in the sound. “we did that.”
he turns to look at her, amusement tugging at his lips. “nah, you did that. i just made it better.”
you lightly hit his arm laughing. “shut up.”
he grins, pulling you into him, pressing a lazy kiss to your temple. “real talk, though, this gonna be the one. we just made a hit.”
you smile against his hoodie, fingers playing with the hem. “yeah,” you murmur. “we did.”
—
a week later, you're both back in the studio putting the finishing touches on the song.
“okay, hear me out,” you say, setting your computer on the console. “lets shoot a music video”
chris raises a brow. “right now?”
you grin, clicking open photobooth. the screen reflects the two of you, slightly grainy, the studio behind you bathed in purple LED light. “with this.”
he chuckles, shaking his head. “you serious?”
“deadass,” you say, already clicking through the filters. “just us. no fancy edits, no crazy production. just us.”
chris leans in, resting his chin on her shoulder. “i kinda love that.”
you beam. “i knew you would.”
within minutes, the track is playing, and you're moving to the beat—laughing, singing into the camera, wrapping arms around each other. you jump on his back at one point, giggling as he stumbles forward, still mouthing the words. the filters change—black and white, dizzy birds, mirror. in one clip, chris grabs you by the waist, spinning you around before pressing a kiss to your lips. in another, your belting the chorus while chris nods along dramatically, hand on his chest like he’s feeling every lyric.
when the song fades out, you stops recording, cheeks flushed from laughter. “that,” you breathe, “was perfect.”
chris grins, pulling you in. “everyones gonna go crazy.”
you laugh, shaking your head. “shut up.”
but when the video drops a month later, blowing up within hours, she realizes maybe he was right.
A/N: ok i love this song so much and I love tate and laroi. hope u enjoyeddd

Revolving door
"tried to call you off like a bad habit but I keep coming back like a revolving door" tate mcrae

the night is quiet, the only sounds filling the air are the faint hum of cars passing in the distance and the music your playing. you’re curled up on your bed, phone in hand, staring at the missed call from matt.
it’s been weeks since you told him you were done. since you said you couldn’t keep doing this, couldn’t keep letting yourself fall for him when he didn't want you like that.
but he always calls. and you always cave.
when the phone rings again, you hesitate, your finger hovering over the decline button. but you don’t press it. you let it ring. and then, as if on autopilot, you swipe to answer.
"hey baby," his voice is low, rough around the edges, like he wasn’t expecting you to pick up.
"matt..." you sigh, pressing your fingers to your temple. "you need to stop calling."
he's quiet for a second, and then—"you don't want me to."
it’s not a question. and the worst part? he’s right.
you squeeze your eyes shut in frustration with something softer, something you don’t want to name. "what do you want?"
"you know what i want."
your heart skips a beat. because you do. and despite everything, despite knowing how this ends, you find yourself reaching for your keys.
before you know it, you’re outside his house, your heartbeat pounding in your ears as you knock. the door swings open almost instantly, like he was already waiting.
his hair is messy, like he’s been running his hands through it, and there’s something in his eyes—something unreadable, something that makes you question your decision.
“i shouldn’t be here,” you say quietly, even as you step inside, even as he shuts the door behind you.
“but you are,” he murmurs, watching you like he’s memorizing every detail. “why?”
you hate that you don’t have an answer.
“you keep calling,” you admit, voice barely above a whisper.
matt exhales a slow breath, rubbing the back of his neck. “i know.”
silence stretches between you, thick with everything you don’t say. then, finally, he steps closer, his fingers ghosting over your wrist, a familiar feeling that you craved.
“this is a mistake,” you whisper, even as your body betrays you, leaning into his touch.
“then why does it feel like the only thing that makes sense?” he counters, his voice rough, like he’s just as wrecked as you are.
you should turn around. you should leave.
instead, you let yourself be consumed by him.
his hands find your waist, pulling you closer, and the second his lips meet yours, it’s over. you’re his, just like always. just like you swore you wouldn’t be.
he presses against you, guiding you toward the couch, his lips never leaving yours. it's desperate—like he needs you. his fingers skim your jaw, tilting your face so he can deepen the kiss, and you melt into him despite the voice in your head telling you to stop.
when he finally pulls away, his forehead resting against yours, you think—maybe this time will be different. maybe this time, he’ll ask you to stay.
“i missed you” he sighs running his hands up and down the side of your torso
your chest tightens, because you know he doesn't mean it. “you can't say that matt”
matt studies you for a long moment, something unreadable flickering in his eyes. his hand lingers on your hip, his thumb drawing slow circles against your skin, like he’s not ready to let you go. like he never is.
“i don’t want to lose you,” he admits, voice barely above a whisper.
it’s the closest he’s ever come to saying what you want to hear. but it’s not enough.
“then keep me,” you challenge, searching his face for something—anything—that tells you he’s ready.
his jaw clenches. his grip tightens for just a second before he pulls away. “you know i can’t.”
your heart cracks, but you don’t let it show. you simply nod, forcing yourself to stand up and head towards the door, to ignore the way your body screams at you to stay.
“that's what i thought. I shouldn't have come here” you turn before he can see the tears threatening to fall, before he can say something that’ll make you stay. because you both know how this ends.
just like a revolving door, you’ll always come back.
but maybe—just maybe—this time, you won’t.
before you reach the door, you hear it. his voice, barely above a whisper, but enough to make you freeze.
"please... don’t go."
your breath catches. you turn, just enough to see the look in his eyes—raw, unguarded. different.
he takes a step forward, then another, like he’s afraid you’ll disappear if he moves too fast. "i don’t know how to do this," he admits, his voice cracking. "i don’t know how to be what you need. but i—i can’t lose you."
your heart clenches. because this is new. this is something more.
so you take a step forward, too. "then try."
matt swallows hard, nodding once, like he’s made his choice. and this time, maybe he will be telling the truth.
A/N Hope u liked this one!! This is my fav song off so close to what
