The door closes behind him as he flops down beside you on the featherbed. Around you there are clothes strewn, makeup bags with its contents spilling, robes, trays of finished food that still haven’t been cleaned. You roll your eyes and keep staring at the ceiling. 

Outside, the wedding reception is in full swing. Booze all around, people dancing clumsily as the alcohol makes its way into their systems. 

“It’s so loud outside,” you say. You feel him beside you, mimicking your position. Hands on the stomach like a corpse in a casket. 

He lets out a dramatic sigh. “I know. Who the hell invited all these people?”

“It’s funny you found me here,” you raise a brow, glancing at him. Blond hair gelled back, a tired look in his face, very handsome. “It’s almost like we’re meant to be. Or you’re a stalker who’s obsessed with me.”

He stretches his arms back and grapples blindly for a pillow. He finds one and slams it in your face gently. You grumble and take it from him, putting it below your head. There. Much more comfortable than earlier. 

“Can we leave?” you ask, turning to face him. Your hair is starting to get smushed. “It’s not like the bride and groom are going to look for us.”

He snorts. “We should at least see it through.”

“My feet hurt,” you complain. You present to him the feet in question, still clad in high heels that are too complicated to discard. 

He scooches closer to you and rests his head on the end of your pillow. You move closer beside him. “Poor you.”

You glare. He laughs. “Let’s leave?” you plead again. 

He shakes his head resolutely. “No. The groom and I are close. He said he doesn’t want me missing his wedding.”

“Well the bride and I aren’t close. In fact, I hate that bitch. She made so much stupid decisions. Her dress, first of all, is too heavy. Then her music is too loud. Then she invited too many people – I really could go on, ‘Tsumu.”

“That’s too bad. I like the bride.”

“More than you like me?” you ask. His hands start gripping your waist. 

“Hm,” he pecks your lips. “She looked very pretty today.”

Your feet are throbbing. “‘Tsumu,” you whine in a last ditch attempt. “Let’s leave.”

“You can’t leave your own wedding, love,” he reminds you, lips already on your neck. “But I can tell you it’ll be about twenty minutes before they start looking for us again.”
