Okay i know it’s been eight months but you bet your ass I’m still thinking about the good place.

Jason, whose impulsivity had gotten him killed, sitting in the forest for basically a couple eternities (like a monk, lol) waiting for the not-a-girl that he loved to come back so that he could give her the necklace he made for her.

Tahani, whose whole life had basically been performative, finally learning to do things for herself simply because she wanted to, being completely independent and self-sufficient, and then spending her eternity actually, truly helping others and working up from the bottom to be an architect for no reason other than that she wanted to help others as she had been helped.

Chidi, whose life had been tormented by anxiety and indecisiveness, finally able to comfortably, confidently make decisions quickly and easily, and who decided he was ready to make the one truly irreversible decision even though he’d be doing it alone.

Michael, who had spent an eternity unsure of his purpose, around since the beginning of time and who had been listless and unable to truly experience anything new, being able to become human and truly experience everything for the first time with the kind of excited naïveté that had fascinated him in humans.

Janet, whose entire purpose had been to serve others, learning to experience emotion, fall in love, and carve a life for herself that included meaningful relationships and being on equal ground with people, and having a life outside of the service she’d been created for, with her own wants and desires.

And finally, Eleanor, whose selfishness had been her fatal flaw, learning to care about others to such an extent that she was the last of the group to move on, unable to go through the final door until she knew for certain that everyone she cared about and everyone who had helped her along her way would be taken care of. And that the last thing her essence did before returning completely into the universe was to inspire a selfless act of kindness in others that ended up helping her loved ones.

All for a show whose last line was ‘take it sleezy.’
