You know all those jokes about "Time can't read"? How everyone says that because he was raised in the forest and Navi did all the reading on his quest, he never learned how?

Yeah, that, except it's not exactly correct.

Y'see, during the War of Eras, Warriors actually taught Mask how to read and write. not perfectly, but enough to get him by, and he progressed naturally from there. Problem is? He learned to read and write in Warriors' Hylian, not his own. Poor man is a confused by his own eras' writing as he would be a foreign language, but the moment they step into Warriors' time, he's completely confident.

And Malon? When they were kids, she saw him writing in a "secret code" (actually just Wars' Hylian) and figured out how to 'decode' it, (which honestly was quite the feat, though she doesn't know that). So, now, as adults, she just writes to him in "their secret code" rather than bothering with the local language. Because she realized he doesn't actually know 'proper hylian' and is still struggling to translate it in his own head, but the "code" is easy for him, so she wants to save him the trouble.

Sometimes she writes something in their actual Hylian to give him a challenge, but never anything super important, just things like ''I Love You" or "try and read this, fairy-boy"

When Wars finds out he isn't sure if he wants to laugh or cry, because he's glad he could help but also did he screw Time up by teaching him the wrong language?

Meanwhile, Twilight just wants to know why his mentor can't read the language in their worlds, and why his writing is so....illegible. Like, is this another language or smth?!?!?!?!

thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.

a tiny rant

As someone who's played every mainline Zelda game (and most non-canon ones), I think it’s completely unfair for anyone in the LU fandom to expect that of others. Playing every Zelda game takes a huge amount of time, energy, and money. No one should be judged by how many games they’ve played, how skilled they are, or how much free time they have. Every fan who’s fallen in love with LU is just as important and valid as anyone else. The LU comic itself is a fan-created spin-off from the official Zelda series—it’s built on love for the characters, not a checklist of experience. So if you’ve never touched a Zelda game, have only read the comic, read fanfics, or played just one title—you are a treasured part of this fandom. I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to see the ideas, art, and stories you bring to life.

writing fanfiction is just. i’m being so creative and original. i’m plagiarizing everyone by accident. i’m a genius. i’m cringe. i’m too angsty. i’m too cheesy. this is not in character. it doesn’t matter that it’s not in character because these are my characters now. i love my hobby. this is the worst possible use of my time. i’m seeking validation. i’m projecting my own personal problems onto this story and i’m barely hiding it. i know so many words and i’m using all of them wrong. im on tumblr posting about it instead of writing it.

In other news, I rewatched A Life Less Ordinary for the first time in at least a couple of decades. It still holds up! Not complex, but fun!

no more first and only. give me the context of what made them know the next or one after was final and right.
